ABOUT TEST PATTERN

Don't touch that dial: Test Pattern tunes into television, movie, music and pop culture links, as well as gossip and idle chat from around the Web.

Every week, msnbc.com entertainment producers Gael Fashingbauer Cooper, Denise Hazlick, Paige Newman, Kurt Schlosser and Anna Chan weigh in on topics ranging from TV commercials to movie hype to the latest celebrity blunder. We're not ashamed to admit our love for bad TV or reveal what's on our iPods, and invite you to join the conversation via your comments.

• The Gobler Toys site has been around for years now -- it's a fictional toy company with a very entertaining Web presence. Don't miss their video about "Star Wars Toys That Never Were," featuring such hilarious toy concepts as Professor Greedo and the Trash Tub. (Via Metafilter.)

• In advance of Valentine's Day, you can now buy U.S. postage stamps customized with lipstick prints from various celebrities. My favorite is the pawprint from Benji. You can also order up stamps with your own lipmark on them. SWAK!

• Many of the "American Idol" auditioners have MySpace pages, and this Weblog rounds up nearly a dozen of them. Another reason not to audition for any national reality show without carefully hiding or grooming your online presence first. The masses will find you.

• Some folks just love the online games, and Scribble! is a neat one. (From the link, click on PLAY THIS GAME). You simply connect the dots as fast as you can, but it's somewhat addictive.

• My trip was to wintry Washington, D.C., not sunny Hawaii, but I'm still entranced by this interactive hula girl postcard. You choose what you want it to say from a list of words, and the dancer will act it out. (Via the Presurfer.)

Loved the hula girl.Brought back memories of pre-marital trip through the islands. Also helps forget cold and snow in Northeast.
That Star Wars link was terribly boring.
I loved the 'minutes to parsecs' converter! I want one!
The Star Wars thing was a crack-up!
Scribble is freakin awesome! very very addictive.
Hello Gael, I ran across this unusual promotion recently. It certainly caught my eye. The horror author is offering a chance to win one of his TEETH! You gotta see this to believe it. I don't know what an HTML tag is, but here's the link http://www.hauntedcomputer.com/ Just thought I'd share!
