Almost 'Paradise,' again

Posted: Wednesday, May 30, 2007 3:39 PM by Gael Fashingbauer Cooper

"Paradise Hotel" is coming back. No, really. "Paradise Hotel." Not to be confused with "Temptation Island" or "Bachelorettes in Alaska," but if you remember "Forever Eden" and its whiny theme song ("ForEV-er Eden, ForEV-er Eden, I'm never going home..."), you're on the right track. ("Forever Eden" was kind of a spinoff of sorts of "Paradise.")

As Andy Dehnart reports for us today, "Paradise" is scheduled to start a new season on FOX Reality Channel (where else?) in January. If you missed "Paradise" the first time around, well ... think of the nastiest clique in your high school and imagine then having a Spring Break party (filmed at this breathtaking Acapulco resort) that goes on and on for weeks. There's plenty of backstabbing and behind-the-back whispering, one popular couple clings to power and arbitrarily decides who's cool and in and who's lame and dorky. Still, the show was one major guilty pleasure for the dozens of readers who've written in to our reality TV column over the years, wondering what happened to the show and when it will return.

I always felt pretty embarrassed for the participants on "Paradise Hotel." It's one thing to one day show your children or grandchildren a tape of you on "Survivor" or even "The Apprentice," it's another for them to have to know that Grandma or Grandpa was the foul-mouthed bikini girl from "Paradise Hotel."

The question I have is if she is under 21 how is she even allowed to be in the club? In AZ you cannot even enter a club unless you are over 21, they card you at the door. If it is a restaurant/bar you have to leave by 10:00PM if you are under 21.
We rely on celebrities to serve as positive role models…especially for teens and minors. The press has been constantly throwing Lindsay’s illegal behavior in our face for the past few years and yet nothing is done. It really irritates me more to know that no action is taken against the clubs where they are serving minor celebrities. I am ashamed that we live in a very sad, pathetic and greedy society where money and publicity takes precedence over the law and the safety of our minors. The constant exposure of celebrities drinking, doing drugs and smoking is essentially glamorizing these life threatening habits. And now I recently read that the producers/directors are going to post-pone another movie Lindsay is suppose to be in while she is in treatment. ENOUGH ALREADY! She needs a good dose of the “tough love” treatment NOW. By not doing so, you are just sending a message that she can keep getting away with her unpredictable behavior and selfish attitude. Sorry, Lindsay, but the world does not revolve around you. As a matter of fact, it does not revolve around ANYONE. What happened to EQUALITY in this country??
I'm tired of reading about this person who spends more effort posing for the camera and flaunting inebriation than proving any real acting talent. She was a talented child star, she is not a talented young adult star. Maxim's Top 100? Please! Top 100 what? Nightclubbers? It's time to let this one go and give one of the other very talented actresses seen so often on tv and the movies the same chance this one had. She blew it.
*SIGH* Another "reality" show? Gee, I can hardly wait.
Just by reading all the comments on Lindsey, you'd think the "Big Wheels" in Hollywood would get the point. It is infuriating that they will hault a movie production for this out of control, spoiled, over-indulged child. Grow up Lindsey, enough of the "drama!" Get a real life cause we are sick of seeing your pathetic one as it is now!!
