'Pushing Daisies" still blooms, 'Journeyman's' journey ends

While we wait on news about "Moonlight," I wanted to answer some of your questions from the comments.

--"Pushing Daisies" will return in the fall on ABC. Pass the pie!

--It was announced this week that FOX has canceled "New Amsterdam"

--"Friday Night Lights" is coming back, but before episodes air on NBC, they will first be shown on a DirecTV specific channel, The 101. (I have had DirecTV for years and have never heard of this.) No worries, though, eventually you'll see them.

--"Journeyman" was canceled on NBC. This one hurts. I was just starting to get into that show, and who doesn't love Kevin McKidd? I may have to eventually rent "Made of Honor" just to get my Lucius Vorenus fix. Also, "Moon Bloodgood" is the best name in TV, bar none.

--"Prison Break" is expected to return in the fall, with filming moving from Texas to L.A.

--One Showtime-less reader asked if the second season of "Dexter" was coming to CBS (heavily edited, of course, as the first season was). I asked CBS today, and a spokesperson said there's no word on whether that will happen yet. I'd bet it will eventually, though.

Update: For the reader who asked in today's comments, yes, "Cane" has been canceled. I'm saddened if only because this gives me one less opportunity to enjoy the talents of Rita Moreno.

I hate that Journeyman was cancelled! Has anyone heard if Life will be returning?
Journeyman hurts. That was a smart show with lots of plot possibilities. I thought from the beginning, however, that it should have been on USA or TNT; it was just a little to thoughtful for a network show. Who knows, maybe one of those cable networks will step up and keep this show alive (it's production budget cna't be too high and the drama was mainly in the writing and not in CGI or other costly production efforts).

What about NBC's Life? I liked that show.
Has anybody heard about "Cane" on CBS? It's a great show with a strong Hispanic cast. I'm also bummed that ABC canceled "October Road".
i am REALLY upset that journey man was cancelled, the show was just great.  pushing daises should have been cancelled; it started out great but was crap before the season ended
That so completely blows that Journeyman was cancelled AND New Amsterdam.  I loved those shows.  Why is it that shows  that are intelligent, creative, thought-provoking and imaginative get the axe and garbage like Big Brother last for years?  Television is rapidly becoming completely vapid and catering to the lowest common demoninator.  There IS life in outerspace and they are avoiding us because they see the nonsense that we show for "entertainment."
Journeyman should have never been canceled- somebody really messed up. It was replaced with American Gladiator - looks like the frat boys are taking over the network. Mondaays with Chuck, Heroes, and Journeyman used to be a great night- now it's just trash.
I really don't know what I will do without Moonlight... but it's not over yet!!! Hopefully The CW will save Moonlight.. there's still hope!! I agree that Monday nights were great with Chuck, Heroes, and Journeyman.  I am completely disappointed.  What a great show it was- drama, comedy, action, mystery... what more can you ask for?  I loved Kevin McKidd.  I hope that another network picks it up because I would definitely watch!

Wait, what???  They canceled October Road???  That was one of my favorite shows!!!  I can't believe they are broadcasting more horrible gameshows but don't keep quality shows.  I am so disappointed!!!!
Are you kidding me?? I LOVE JOURNEYMAN! I've been waiting for it to come back on. Okay, Heroes ins't on, Journeyman is cancelled, now they're screwing up CSI.... there'll be no more good shows left!  Okay, all I have now is the Unit and Numbers..... unless someone knows something I don't??  That sucks about Journeyman.

My family loved Journeyman and I catch myself daydreaming about the possibilities. So many unanswered questions....
My viewing will shift mostly to the cable networks...  Journeyman, October Road, Moonlight, and Jericho, along with Lost, Chuck and Hero's where the shows I watched...  Only Chuck, Hero's and Lost left...  I guess I am done with CBS! and I am so SICK of reality shows... I refuse to watch at this point to even give there ratings.  I Live reality every day, I watch TV for an escape!
I was hope for 'journeyman' to come back too. It would have been fun to see where the show went and how they explained everything. I'm fairly sure 'Life' was coming back. I could be wrong, however. That is a fun show, too.
I really hate to see that October Road was not on the ABC fall schedule. I'm assuming that means it has been cancelled alltogether. That was a really great show! I related to it, finally a show where the chubby girl gets the hot guy! I also liked that it seemed to be a tale from every small town. It will be missed!
I totally agree about Journeyman and New Amsterdam. Intelligent shows getting cancelled but brainless reality shows live on. Journeyman especially was a good show with endless possibilities.
I really hate that Journeyman was cancelled.  Also bummed about Women's Murder Club.  Love Angie Harmon.  Never gave them a good slot.  Hope LIFE comes back.  Sounds like all we'll have to watch are reality/game shows.  BORING!!!  Guess it will be good to watch less TV.

I'm glad that Pushing Daisies will be back - it was the just kind of quirky show that network tv needs. I hope Moonlight is brought back - I love that show. I also like Chuck and Journeyman; New Amsterdam seemed like it could be pretty cool. Why oh why is there so much UNreality on?! (apparently it pays to be stupid)
I'm holding out for October Road to come back midseason like it did this year, I hope.
Journeyman was a great show with great twists and many possibilities...Shame on the network for cancelling it. I'll only have Chuck and Heroes to watch, if they make it back...And I loved The Unit, where is it?...It's to bad that networks cater only to nitwits and simpletons with their "reality shows" that only showcase how stupid people are really getting...
Shows like Journeyman and New Amsterdam have got to learn that they all can't be "Lost".  These shows, with a somewhat gimmicky nature (Time Travel, Immortality) can't go on forever without answering some of the questions their plots bring up.  It's great the first few episodes to learn a little more about how these gimmicks work, but eventually it become tiresome for the viewer to have to keep wondering and wondering how things work.  They need to answer some questions and bring up new ones to keep the viewers interest.
It's too bad about "Journeyman", it was an interesting show.  I still chuckle about the second episode where he got in trouble for having a modern-day $20 bill in 1995.
I am not a huge fan of any show.  I do not make my schedule around my tv.  However, I found myself trying to be home on monday nights so I could catch New Amsterdam.  From the first show I was hooked!  I can't believe its not going to be on again.
just found your blog.  I HATE that Tucker was canceled. The 6pm show that replaced him, is not worth my time!
I find the cancellations extremely unfair.  Due to the writer's strike none of the new programs had a chance to develop.  Journeyman, New Amsterdam, Moon Light, even Women's Murder Club, were something different and bright.  I'm sick of stupid reality shows,  we don't need another talent show based on dance, or Smarter Than a Fifth Grader, Howie Mandell, and especially that embarrassing Lie Detector Exploitive, Farce.

Anytime something different and interesting makes it to the air waves, the corporations don't give them a chance to develop legs and an audience.

Why is it that most of the innovative, fun, different shows, get the ax so quickly.

I guess I'll be watching a lot more Discovery, History, and especially Sci Fi Cable this coming season.
