Say cheese! I don't want your celeb life

I'll be the first to admit that I spend a great deal of time on the Internet looking at paparazzi pictures of celebrities. I'll also admit that I think 99 percent of this stuff is garbage and makes me glad I'm not a big shot star (at least not in my own mind).

The only reason I bring this up -- because by now I've learned that all of you who tirelessly read about celebrities actually hate reading about celebrities -- is because two noteworthy photos surfaced this week. One photo shows Britney Spears smoking a cigarette in a bikini as her 2 1/2-year-old son Preston stands nearby, getting ready to lift her smokes off of a table. This image was actually on the cover of the New York Post, teasing a story about how horrible a mother Britney is.

The other image shows Brad Pitt out for a cruise in a golf cart with his young daughter Shiloh riding on his lap. The photo is reminiscent of Britney again, who got more bad mothering heat for riding in her car with one of her kids on her lap.

Some will say Britney and Brad should know better by now, that they live their lives within range of long camera lenses and everything is fair game because they're celebrities. I'm not going to condone the actions being taken in either of these photos, but I think that's a little crazy. It's ridiculous to expect these people to be perfect at every turn when we, the people who feed on their every misstep, would look just as silly under the same microscope.

Regardless of Brad and Brit's parenting skills, who in their right mind would want to be a megawatt star in this day and age? Do the hotels and the boats and the cars and the houses really offset the lack of privacy that comes with being pursued 24-7?

Think about it as the helicopter hovers overhead as you stand there looking bloated in your bikini, your 2-year-old momentarily reaching for your cigarettes before a picture is snapped and sent around the world. Would it really be worth the hit record or the blockbuster movie?

the solution is very simple...it's a matter of supply & demand (as has been stated many times above).  If we, as a public, quit buying the rags that pay for these pictures that the 'stalker-atzi' take, there wouldn't be any money coming in to pay them.  They only make money because we, as a public, have decided that we cant take a single step or make a purchase without knowing what the 'stars' are doing.  i wonder how long it would take for all of those rags to go belly up if we all got a life & quit worrying what people 'up the payscale' were doing.  Come on, $5 or more for a magazine that is all about celebrities & what they're wearing, eating, blah, blah, blah.  That's a gallon of gas (or will be shortly).  Let's spend our money on more intelligent things.  Remove the demand & the supply will eventually have to stop.  If no one buys the mags, then the mags will have to stop buying the pics.  Common sense.
I am actually tired of all the celebrities in the news all the time. I honestly do not care where celebrities go, what they eat, and what they do. I have my own things to do and  my own life to live.
I am not addicted to magazine but I know everything about celebrities. What they eat, what they like etc. Do you know why? Whenever I want to watch tv I see a magazine title. Whenever I want to read a journal, I see lots of photoshopped photos of those celebrities. I just cant help myself thinking poor people out there when a celebrity says "I have 200 shoes" what is the point?
I want their money.  Take all the pics you want.
The celebs that are in the tabloids get what they deserve.  There are plenty of rich and famous people out there that don't have the issues of Spears and Hilton.  Those people only reap what they sew.  Take a performer like Maynard James Keenan, the lead singer of Tool.  He has a HUGE following, yet because of his refusal to do interviews to every magazine and TV show, he is able to shop at the grocery store unnoticed, and raise his son in a normal life.

Thats the way to do it...  and by the way, if you're looking for a 6 figure income the easy way... just release a sex tape. ;)
Celebs exploit themselves.  When they want us to see their personal lives,  they expose themselves.  When they want to be private,  they want everyone to forget about them.  These people thrive on attention.  Why can't they take their acting job as any other job?  Go to work, come home and have a quiet life.  Just think how awful it would be for a celeb to feel like one of us everyday people?  They couldn't stand it!  They want to be exceptional.  To answer your question  NO,  I am happy within myself and rest will come.
I saw a comical montage on VH1, complete with a silly song showing pictures of celebrities with food stains on their clothing.  It was funny, but it was also kind of a sad presentation that someone thought enough about stained clothing to write a song and piece together these shots.  See, they have stained clothing just like us everyday people.  Yeah?  So?  Why am I supposed to care?
AMEN!! to your post!!
I totally agree with M.Wilks. My husband is a police officer and not only does he not get paid what he's worth but he doesn't get any respect for what he goes through. Society has put the wrong people on a pedistal and I'm sick and tired of this football player and that baseball player being called heros (not to get off on a whole other subject.) You can have the millions. I have a mansion waiting for me in heaven and I'll be walking on streets of gold for the rest of my life. They can't take their possesions with them wherever they end up.
I agree with L. Taylor. Although I am glad I am not a celebrity. The media is a bad influence on people. My daughter is very beautiful and she has strangers acting like they are photographers and trying to post her picture on the internet. She for one knows what it is like to be famous, but disrespects the "vocation". Money does not buy happiness, these days it seems to buy problems. Everyone is out for a buck. I doubt the tabloids would vanish, there are too many bored people to buy them. Pitt is now suing for pictures the media took without permission. When I tried to sue for someone who posted my daughters pic on the internet, the police said they would not even take the complaint because I did not have a "copyright" on her picture. B s is B s and the media and the lax laws they operate under are B S!!!
I know it's not a big deal & not our business, but does anyone find it weird that Brangelina chooses not to have their natural born children in the U.S., the country that's been good to all of them ?

You said it best...Hands down...
This is for the poster Angela and likeminded persons:

People who say that celebrities shouldn't complain about the pictures/papparazzi/invasion of privacy because 'it's their job' are two bulbs short of a pack. THESE MEN INVADED AND TRESPASSED ON PRIVATE PROPERTY. THEY BROKE THE LAW!!!

Since when does what you do define who you are and erase personal boundaries? If I'm an accountant, does that mean I HAVE TO answer every tax question from every Tom, Dick, and Harry come tax season? Of course not. These people's vocation is to make movies or music or whatever. The roles that they play have no bearing on who they are or their real lives, which are just as flawed and complex as any of ours. Celebrities absolutely SHOULD be afforded privacy. The paparazzi takes it way to far. It's fine to click at an event or an outing for the 'job', but dangerously chasing people in their cars, invading family time vacations, bulbs flashing in these people's 2 and 3 year old children's faces, and the like is highly unacceptable. Celebrities already share their abilities with us, does this mean that they must cease being humans with the need for enjoyment, personal space, or downtime with friends or families? ABSOLUTELY NOT! I wish we would all stop buying the rags that sell this crud to stop the frenzy. Think about this: Would you like your lifestyle on blast for the whole world to see because of your job? What if our government suddenly decided that your every move, conversation, relationship, food preference, or trip to the loo is fodder for public consumption..Not so comfortable now, eh?
I can't feel sorry for celebs. Especially in this day and age, people know what they're getting in to when they go into show business, with regards to the paps! We are a media society and we're a society that likes to read/see images and stories that make our lives seem better. We like to see celebs tumble and stumble because they seem to have it so much easier than we do. And maybe they do. What in the hell do Heidi and Spencer do that warrants so much attention? Who are these people? And someone named Audrina who gets $5k for showing up at a nightclub? Come on!!!!  Heck someone can give me $500 and I'll show up at a nightclub. And who the heck are the Kardashians and why are we even remoting interested in them? What have they done for society that warrants so much press coverage?

I was listening to a manager of a celebrity who was asked why his client is never shown in a bad light by the paps. The manager said that people in Hollywood know where the paps are stationed; Mr Chow's, Ivy, etc... IF his client wants to be seen on tv or in the papers, he'll go to one of these places. If he wants a nice quiet dinner with friends, he'll go to places that are more private. These "stars" that show up at these places know the paps are there and then they throw a hissy fit when their pictures are taken? Stay home and eat dinner!!

With regards to Brad Pitt and Shiloh, golf carts can tip over very easily. He really shouldn't have had her on his lap. I don't think this is as serious as Brit having her children on her lap driving but Brad should think twice.

As for Brit, I do agree with people who say children grab at anything. Many mothers and fathers smoke so the pic showing her son going for a pack of smokes isn't really news-worthy.
