Va va voom! Female celebs who've got it all

On Tuesday, manly mag Esquire named Halle Berry its Sexiest Woman Alive, 2008. I certainly can’t argue with that. Not only does she always look great (how quickly she sprang back into perfect form after welcoming baby Nahla!), she’s talented and seems smart.

While there are many incredibly sexy female celebrities, and Berry’s right up there on my list, two in particular are tops in my book:

AP
Hayek always manages to look great, regardless of outfit.

Salma Hayek
The hair, the eyes, the voluptuous body, the accent! And oh, the intelligence and heart behind her work! Her role as unlucky-in-love Mexican painter Frida Kahlo in 2002's “Frida” (which she also co-produced) earned her a nod from the Academy for best actress. More recently, she adapted a Colombian telenovela and turned it into the hit “Ugly Betty.” In addition, Hayek not only speaks out against violence against women, but has also donated thousands to support anti-domestic violence groups and to build shelters for battered women in Mexico. Beauty and brains? Check!

Shirley Manson
The Garbage crooner not only has the looks and the body, but also the voice and the attitude. (Miley and Britney can learn some serious lessons from her on how to be a “bad” girl without getting all of the bad press, but Manson’s sultry, lovely vocals can’t taught.) She’s penned many of the band’s hits, including songs with a political edge on the latest album, "Bleed Like Me," that placed the group high atop the charts. Then there’s her charity work, which includes ambassador for the MAC AIDS Fund and PETA poster girl for a campaign against using fur in clothing. Yup, I’m bowing down to her, just as she commands in “Supervixen.”

One thing these two women seem to have in common is that they’re not overexposed. Their private lives are a bit of a mystery to me (save for the rare rumor of whom they may be dating), which makes them more likeable. I don’t have much to taint my ideas of them beyond physical attractiveness and their work, something that Angelina Jolie and Pamela Anderson can’t claim.

But what one person thinks is sexy doesn’t resonate with another. Which female celebs do you think are the hottest, and why? And don’t worry, we’ll discuss hottie male stars next week!

Dude... how is it possible no one has mentioned Scarlett Johanssen?
Most beautiful, no doubt, Angelina Jolie. My next picks would be Diane Lane and Michelle Pfeiffer. Both timeless beauties.
Shirley Manson has to be the most beautiful woman in the world.
Lisa Edelstein, Lauren Graham, Rashida Jones and Holly Marie Combs are also very beautiful.

Kate Winslet is a wonderful mix of classic beauty, talent, modesty and intelligence. She definitely earns the top spot on my list.
Shirley Manson is still fantastic ten years after she was the hottest chick in rock n' roll. I'm glad she is back on the scene as an actress now, but I can't wait to hear her back in the studio with the Garbage boys. Beautiful, intelligent, and talented. And that accent kills me!
I believe in looks, bankability and southern charm - Reese Witherspoon!
Ayeshwarya Rai and all three of the Corr sisters. Anne Hathaway's cute, too, as is Elizabeth Reaser.
Sorry folks, Catherine Bell belongs at the top of this list.
Julia Roberts.  I've had a crush on her ever since I saw "Notting Hill."  I know she's taken time off to be a mom, but in my opinion there's not a better combination of beauty and talent in the business.
Angela Basset
Julia Stiles... smart, beautiful, and not over-hyped like some of her contemporaries (pointing finger at Kirsten Dunst)
Thanks MB for Jewel. Thats always been my number one. But I can't beleive that no one has said Milla Jovovich. Ever since Fifth Element I've been facinated with her.
Mariska Hargitay, Jamie King, Michelle Williams
I definately agree on Shirley Manson, I'd say she's one of the best looking women alive. Megan Fox is so artificial and faux-sexy. I never saw any appeal in Catherine Zeta-Jones whatsoever. Halle Berry, on the other hand, is still gorgeous woman.
