How can we vote Samantha Harris off "Dancing"?

Every week, "Dancing With the Stars" votes off another celebrity dancer. A combination of judges' votes and viewer calls determine who goes home. But there's one "Dancing" participant who can never get the boot, and sadly, she's the one person many viewers would most like to see leave the show: Co-host Samantha Harris.

ABC
Does "Dancing With the Stars" really need Samantha Harris?

I came late to the charms of Tom Bergeron. The main "Dancing" host struck me as smarmy at first, but now that I have to regularly watch "Dancing" for work, Bergeron has really grown on me. It can't be easy to listen to an incomprehensible Italian-accented speech from judge Bruno Tonioli and respond quickly and wittily, yet Bergeron manages to do just that every single week.

Bergeron introduces the show, plays mediator between the judges and the dancers, and keeps things moving along. "Dancing With the Stars" is hardly brain surgery, or even "Masterpiece Theatre," but give credit where it's due. The show is enormously popular and Bergeron keeps it family-friendly and even somewhat funny.

On those rare occasions when someone's feelings get hurt or a judge goes too far, Bergeron's quick to leap in, smooth things over with a joke, and move the show along. He even says what the viewer was thinking -- recently calling judge Carrie Ann Inaba out for her constant flirting with former NFL player Warren Sapp. Bergeron is so deft at what he does, it's no wonder I didn't appreciate him at first. He just makes it look easy.

But after Bergeron has had the judges give their critiques, he sends the dancing couple backstage to find out their scores and then be interviewed by Samantha Harris. First off, is it really necessary that the couple leave the stage to get their scores? Would Cloris Leachman actually launch herself at Len Goodman if he gave her a 3 and she was still standing right in front of him? I think they should just leave the couples onstage to get their scores.

And secondly, why is Harris needed at all? She plays the part of the sideline reporter in a football game, sticking a microphone in the face of someone who's just performed and asking for their comments. Often the celebs and their pro-dancing partners kind of run roughshod all over her, especially Leachman, who seems to have no patience for Harris' awkward attempts at interviews. While Bergeron is nothing but smooth and unruffled, Harris often stammers and seems frightened of the dancers. Once in 2007, she gave out the scores before the judges did.

I know some Harris fans will write in and say "you're just jealous because she's hot!" OK, so she is lovely, and I'm kind of fascinated by the weird things the show's stylists do with her hair. She had kind of a Princess Leia cinnamon-bun 'do going one week, and an elaborately braided Civil War bride thing another week. I was also impressed at how blazingly fast she came back to the show after giving birth last fall, much to the disappointment of those who loved her fill-in, Drew Lachey. And she was raised in Minnesota's Twin Cities, just like I was -- another point in her favor. Plus she apparently played Dawn Wells (Mary Ann) in the TV movie about the making of "Gilligan's Island." So she's got that going for her.

But I don't think her role on "Dancing" is necessary, and I bet the show could be about a half-hour shorter if her backstage fumblings were cut out completely. "Dancing" fans, what say you?

You have my vote on this one - big-time!  The main issue I have is her voice - too low-pitched and hard to understand.  Yes, I'm approaching my sixties, but I'm not suffering from hearing loss!
How do we vote you off??No one is perfect.
Oh Please....please...make her go away.  Between the way-too-revealing dresses and her back-stage-blabbering it has become painful to watch.  I turn the channel after the judges comments.  I do not want to sit through the backstage BS with her.
She mumbles - I can rarely understand what the heck it is she is saying.
Ditto!!!  Thank god for Tivo cause when she comes on a due a boop click to her, boring!!!!  I like that they go back stage to be appreciated by the other dancers but please find somebody who is more coherant & interesting than her.  How about Kelly Monaco from Season I or the Mr Peterman(drawing a blank on his real name) runner up(Seinfeld guy,he is so funny!) or now we can get Cloris.  You can tell Sam did not get her humor at all!!!!  Bye Bye Sam, go birth some babies.  And the reason why she ran back so fast after giving birth cause she knew if she was off camera for too long she would be forgotten & replaced which we are all hoping it happens.
Samantha Harris has got to go.  I can't stand listening to her either.  I don't even think she's that pretty.  What's the big deal about her?  The woman can't form a sentence in her head let alone speak it out loud!
Samantha Harris adds nothing to Dancing With the Stars so she does need to go..........there is no reason for her even being there so lets vote her off....
Double OMG!! I thought "I" was the only one irritated by her fumbling at interviewing and the annoying way she cuts of the people trying to speak. I've see a few of the stars look like they wanna smack her. Like another poster here - I, too, hit the mute button and mumble profusely that she needs to go each time she speaks. I LOVE the fact that she couldnt' control Cloris. Too funny!
I have thought this same thing since the show began.  She is useless.  The backstage interviews are not needed.  I'd rather see more dancing than listen to her attempt to be witty!
Please get rid of Samantha. Tom or DWTS dont need her. This is not the right job for her. She can not handle the guest. Cloris proved that. Just let the judges give the scores while they are out front. Sorry Samantha you need to go.
I agree she doesn't add a lot to the show and doesn't give the contestants time to answer her silly questions.  I believe she replaced another women on the show after the first year.  What was her name and what happened to her?
Sure she's a knucklehead, but c'mon...this show is Dancing with the Stars and it requires absolutely no brain activity on the part of the viewer.  Who cares if the co-host is dumber than a box of rocks?  The whole show is!!

IMO, Drew Lachey was competent, but incredibly boring as a fill in.  At least with Samantha, you have the possibility of an entertaining trainwreck each week.  Leave her be.
How do we get this message to the right people?  Hopefully this poll will be forwarded to the people with the clout to oust her.  She IS pretty, but that's about it.  Drew was fun and that's what this show is except for pretty-girl.
The woman is a total idiot and says the dumbest things I've ever heard.  I mute my TV when she is talking.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one! She is clearly uncomfortable doing live interviews, and not just on this show, I've seen her doing the red carpet interviews and live interviews just don't seem to be her strength. Drew Lachey did a great job, or else just let Tom do his thing.
I agree, they should send Samantha packing.  She is very annoying and unnecessary.  I was thrilled when Drew took her place and wish he would come back to the show.  She may be a very sweet and lovely woman, but this is not her forte.
I couldn't agree more. Her interviews are boring & really make her seem dumber than a box of rocks. Get
somebody better to replace her!! I loved Drew Lachey
because he could relate to the dancers better because he went through the pressure & intense training himself

I was Drew back!!!!  She is a waste of space!
She is VERY annoying.  She needs to go.
The last straw for me was when we caught her rolling her eyes at one of the pros....either Lacey or Julianne..can't remember....how rude.

Tom all the way!!
Get rid of her.  She is nice on the eyes but once she opens her trap, she isn't as pretty.  Maybe if they just have her stand there naked and not talk.
Samantha is my least favorite part of the show. Whatever happened to the young lady that co-hosted the first season? She was lovely and did a much better job than Samantha does.
Samantha's role could easily be eliminated - there is no value added.  I think she is probably a very nice person, but she is not a very good interviewer and does not keep pace with Tom, who is always spot on.  I feel very uncomfortable and cringe when she opens her mouth.  She does not come off as confident in her role, hence the awkardness.  Drew was great but in the end, do we really need someone backstage?  I agree with an earlier comment - give the couples their scores right there on the stage.  At the end of the day, the show is fun and light-hearted and Samantha just seems out of place and out of her element.
I am so happy to read what I have been thinking and saying since Samantha started on the show. Her questions are ridiculous and I don't feel she is needed at all. When she comes on I mute or pause my DVR and then fast forward through her needless conversations. I say get rid of her. Tom is great and can handle it without her.
Samantha is alright. I think she does a great job and  we don't need 2 funny people. I hated when Drew Lachey filled in, talked about riding your 15 minutes of fame to the end.  Samantha's role is needed, if anything the producers should give her more time with the contestants when they come back to hear their scores.  Also, the show doesn't need to be so male-dominated.
Samantha seems to take the show/job way too seriously. We call this type of stuff "stupid fun" at my house because it's of no true importance but we all have a really good time. Drew was great as her fill in. He got it. Say, what did they do with the original lady?
I agree... There is no chemistry between her and Bergeron, and she does really add anything.  And I was so thinking the same thing about her hair!  Just let it hang for goodness sake!
The worst Samantha moment for me came this season when Lance (or Cody, can't remember which one) got a score of 23 and he said something about MJ - and Samantha said that was a little music history for you.

Duh.  While there is an MJ in music, the association of those initials with the number 23 should be obvious - and if it isn't obvious, keep your mouth shut!  The stars were tittering in the background after that.
Samantha is very pretty but looks like she's awkward to be around.  She does this fidigty thing like she's running in place while interviewing the dancers in back....it irritates me to no end.....just stand still!
They need someone who is capable of dealing with the eccentric (Cloris) and boring (Susan Lucci)....she doesn't adjust to the personalities nor is she able to mediate any situations that arise.
Get rid of her!
Thank god for DVR because i always fast forward through her.. i would love to listen to the contestants post-dance interview, but can't stand her! Drew, where are you??? and Tom rocks!
Samantha is good looking.   That is the total of her talent.  You have said what I have been thinking for a long time!
Do you all remember the first Season of DWTS?  I can't
remember the co-host's name but she was terrible.  Next season they got Samantha Harris and she, while not that good, was better than the first girl.  I agree Drew was very good and I really enjoyed his time as co-host.
Be careful what you wish for though, someone worse than Samantha could be hired.  Who are some replacements you could think of.
Samantha is great . . . if you want completely unintentional comedy.

The great thing about DVR is that you can start watching the show a half hour in and be caught up by the end if you fast-forward through Samantha talking.
I MUTE HER. I totally agree that she should be off the show. She brings the show down.
I am going to throw this idea in here.  Does anyone but me think that all the constants picked should be physically able to win on DWTS?  It's ok to pick an old person but things go too far sometimes..like with Cloris.  Good Dancers were voted off before she was.
It is a dancing show...why do we always have the old
person on there that everyone can laugh at and vote to keep in even if they can't win.  ALL Dancers should be potential winners!!!
She is not the brightest bulb on that set!! Get her off the air!! Tom does just fine on his own.
Samantha is fine and she does a good job. All you sillies out there, Cloris leachman was annoying and overbearing. I am glad to see her go.I don't know how she lasted so long. This is a dancing competiton not a comedic competition. Now we cam get back to the real competitoin. Dancing, dancing, dancing.
I have always known that women can be particularly cruel toward other women, in particular.  The responses in this forum prove that hands down.
She is just so uncomfortable in her hosting duties that it makes the viewer uncomfortable watching her. Recently the show rebroadcast highlights from the competition night the hour before the results show, showing just the dances and the scores and leaving out the silly field trips and Samantha's "interviews" backstage. It was great! How about more of that?
I do not think so!
I wouldn't say she is absolutely terrific, but she contributes greatly to the show. She is a quick witt as well.
But I agree with what was said about her style, it has been dreadful at times, and two other things, she is getting too thin and her biceps are oddly overtanned, I noticed everytime she interviews by the side, the light hits her arms and this unnatural shade of tanning is shown.
But please keep her, Lachey was a good dancer but awfull as an interviewer!
When she speaks you can't hear her with the applause of the audience.  She is not needed backstage at all.  I thought I was the only person that thought that.  When she comes on I turn the shopping channel on.
yes I believe that she does nothing for the show. Tom could do it all.
Hallelujah that SOMEONE is thinking like the rest of America who watch this nitwit attempt to interview dancers every Monday and Tuesday!!  She needs to be replaced...she lacks integrity and true television finesse.  The dancers, judges, audience and TV viewers all know it.  I honestly believe Tom is strong enough to carry the whole show.  (He doesn't have a sidekick on America's Funniest Home Videos!?!)  The show doesn't need another 'sexy' factor, they already have it through the dancers and special guests without her!!!  She brings a "BOO" factor to the show.  If she was an investment, it would be past time to sell her stock!!
yes I believe that she does nothing for the show. Tom could do it all.
I have to agree with the one voter.  Her voice is too low, monitoned, hard to understand.  Sorry Samantha.
I simply wish she would quit saying "in no particular order".  That drives me nutzzz.
Has anyone ever noticed how often she cuts off the dancers backstage after asking them a question? My husband and I get so irritated when she cuts them off. Why ask the question if you are not going to wait for the answer Samantha? Bring back Drew!
YOU ARE ALL HATERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The two things that annoy me the most about Samantha are these: 1, she doesn't seem to be able to think on her feet well enough to fit on live TV and 2, she asks the dumbest, most ridiculous questions!  I skipped the season where Drew filled in, so I can't speak to what it was like when he was there, but surely there's someone better out there or it would work better to just eliminate that position alltogether.
