Why I'm rooting for Warren

It's hard to deny that Brooke Burke is probably the most competent dancer on "Dancing With the Stars." The woman is a machine! She kicks those legs like an Olympian, not like a mom of four. She whizzes around on tiny high heels in a costume that seems to consist of a shredded kleenex and a bikini top, and never once loses the beat, forgets her steps, or trips. No question, the woman's amazing.

ABC
Warren Sapp stole "Dancing" fans' hearts.

But when I watch the "Dancing With the Stars" final performance show Monday night, I'm afraid I won't be rooting for Brooke. And while Lacey Schwimmer is definitely my favorite pro dancer and I'm pretty fond of Lance Bass, I won't be cheering for them, either. (My friend Linda Holmes has picked Lance to win it all, though.)

From about the first episode this season, I've been harboring a minor crush on NFL giant Warren Sapp. (Me and Carrie Ann Inaba -- have you seen how she teases him?)

It's not due to any enormous love for his football past. I'm sure he sacked the QBs for my beloved Minnesota Vikings more than a few times and I'm sure I cursed his name each time. But from the minute Warren came out on the floor, he's been hypnotic.

Start with his size. He's a giant guy who sweats up a storm while dancing, yet he doesn't seem to get tired. Some big guys are clumsy and slow, but Warren lifts his body as if it's 100 pounds lighter than it is.

Athletes often do well on "Dancing," but on the field, Warren was hidden behind a helmet. It didn't matter if he smiled or groaned when he was playing football. But on "Dancing," fans are attracted to those competitors who play their parts as if they were actors. Brooke Burke, for all her talents, lets the dancing get to her. We've seen her squabble backstage with her partner and even when she's dancing beautifully, her face is often serious. But Warren tackles each dance as if it's a mini-play, and he never steps out of his role. Even when he's concentrating on his steps, he looks like he's having a blast out there.

Low scores bum him out, but he still manages to stay cheerful. "You are truly a joyful person to watch," said head judge Len Goodman. "You come out full-on 100 percent and sell it." That's exactly right. Whatever struggles Warren may have had learning the dance, however he may be feeling offstage, on "Dancing" it's as if he's never had a bad day. He even squeezes into the show's many goofy costumes with aplomb (the black pleather "Matrix"-style coat was my favorite).

I've heard that, off the show, Sapp is kind of wacky (saying his road-trip food was poisoned? Dissing Keyshawn Johnson for having a home-design show?)

But you know, I don't have to live with the guy, and I'm never going to meet him. The whole point of shows like "Dancing" is to get briefly involved in the rooting, often for random and semi-arbitrary reasons. And based solely on how he acts on the show, Sapp is a heck of a lot more fun to cheer for than Brooke Burke is.

I think Kym Johnsons always does a fantastic job of bringing out the best in her partners and I really hope she and Warren win.  Who else could've made Jerry Springer seem almost human like when they did the Tennessee Waltz - it was so sweet.  And she probably would've won with Joey Fatone if he'd have had any personality to go with his dancing skills.  She's done a great, great job of bringing out the best in Warren and he's been 100% entertaining from the beginning so my vote is for them.
Warren is more like an accompanist to a singer; more or less just a prop for the dancer - does the minimum to get by with. The others are more exciting with their moves, which, to me, is more entertaining. Excitement, that's why I watch dancing, without the excitement it is rather boring.
The only reason Brooke Burke is so popular with the judges is because she is beautiful and has a great body. It's obivous with their remarks to her. Anyone that has danced before can see that her technique is very flawed. Her knees are always bent and she never looks comfortable. Out of the final three Lance is the better pick hands down
Brooke is the best dancer and SHOULD win but won't.  Lance comes in a definite second but Lacey is really what makes that duo shine, however, they won't win either.  Warren will be the winner because he is the true entertainer that you just can't take your eyes off of. It's not just about the dancing.  If you want it to be just about the dancing then watch professional ballroom dancing.  This show is definitely about both dancing AND entertaining
WARREN SAPP!!! he is the best he is the reason I have continued to watch the show.  I believe he deserves to win as he is the most improved, give 110 % and gives you more entertainment that anyone else on that show!  GO WARREN!
After watching the finals last night all you can say is that the judges only want Brooke to win.  Her freestyle was not that good - she gets the high scores by flashing the "you know whats" and shaking the hips in the judges faces.  There is no way Warren or Lance can do that.  The judges are so biased this season it is sickening.  And whats with Len always telling Warren his feet are too big - what did he expect from a 300lb football player.  My votes went to Warren and Kym who by far have come the farthest since he has no dancing experience at all.  No one can tell me that Brooke never danced and Lance was in a boy band that danced so they have some distinct advantage.  Aside from that, I can't stand Derek Hough.  His ego is way too big.  GO WARREN AND KYM!!!
I think Warren is great and deserves correct for getting on the floor every week and having fun!!Brooke is probably going to win because she is great, but didn't seem to have as much fun as Warren and to me that is what it is all about.
DWTS is not trying to turn stars into pro dancers just stars dancing. Warren is by far the most improved of never having danced ballroom before. Please people, it is a television show for entertainment. These stars are not going to go out and compete on a professional level after this show. I totally believe Warren deserves the mirrored ball- he gives it his all and really wants to IMPROVE  each week. His partner is great at bringing him as far as they have come. Her job is just as difficult as his is not only choreogragh such awesome routines weekly but the teach an NFL player of his size to be so graceful is nothing short of awe inspiring. I'm always one to root for the underdog (big dog in Warren's case) and he not only work harder to improve each week but came out a champion with or without their trophy.
I say go "WARREN SAPP". Yes this show is about dancing but it should also be who has improved the most. When chosing contestants everyone should be on the same playing field. "No dancing background". If every NFL player was to vote with all the NFL fans then the choice will be Warren so lets hope they all voted last night.
It is sad to see that dancing with the Stars is not about the dancing but a popularity contest. Warren should have been booted weeks ago. Shame on  you.
I have voted for Warrenn Sapp every week we is so much fun to watch and for a big he is great it easy for a SKINNY GIRL.
I think they are all wonderful and I really enjoy watching them dance. I wish there could be more than 1 winner because they all work so hard.  It is ok with me whoever wins.
I find myself moving along to the music and feeling excited when Warren and Kym dance.  I have NEVER done that with any other dancers during this or in previous seasons.  Warren definitely exudes more charm and charisma than any other dancer.  Brooke Burke is definitely a beautiful and talented dancer and will most likely take home the trophy, but in my mind, Warren is the real winner.
My vote is for Warren I think he is graceful for his size and deserves to win.  I like Lance too!  As for Brook i know the judges like her but I don't.
This is supposed to be a "dancing contest" but a lot of times a "popular" person stays on who can't dance a beat!  It's unfortunate that people who have potential talent get booted off just to let someone who is more popular stay.  Case in point, Cloris stayed while Toni Braxton got the boot.  Was Cloris ever going to be a dancer...NO...but Toni showed promise.  This is what I do NOT like about the show.
If it were opurely dancing, we wouldn't have had to stomach Cloris Leachman all those weeks. Go Warren.
I voted for Warren.  He tries harder I think than the others because he doesn't have the dancer mobility, but he has a heart of gold.  Granted Brooke and Lnce are good dancers but this show is dancing entertainment.  The majority of viewers are not ballroom dancer critics, what would we know.
GO BROOKE! GO BROOKE! GO BROOKE! the women have to do so much more on this show...when i watch the men early on, their girl partners are basically doing all the work, throwing themselves into position, making the guys look good.  The women have to BE good...they can't fake it...well...except for Cloris!GO BROOKE!
If I wanted to "watch" ballroom dancing, I would go to PBS and watch the dancing there.
I am watching for entertainment.
Lancey rocks!
I actually think it might be time for an entertainer to win the show again.

Think about it.  The majority of the winners of the past four seasons have all been athletes (Helio Castroneves being the sole exception), while the entertainers, the people you'd EXPECT to be a little better at this, have been shunted aside.  I'm not dissing athletes; far from it, I cheered mightily for Emmitt Smith, Apollo Anton Ohno, and Kristi Yamaguchi to win it, but it's one thing when it's an athlete that has the capability to actually pick up the necessary timing, grace, and actual technical steps versus one who relies pretty much solely on his cheesy smile.  Warren is an okay dancer, but in comparison with Brooke, he's WAY out of his league.  In comparison with Lance, he's also out of his league, albeit a tad bit closer than with Brooke.  In every season that I personally have seen, the winner has always been a dancer that showed the ability to learn the steps and was able to actually DANCE versus galumph around the floor like Warren tends to do.

I would actually like to see Lance win, if only because he is the most improved and also the most entertaining of the two dancers that have entertainment backgrounds.  Brooke, while an excellent technical dancer, lacks something in her dancing that sort of turns me off; it's like she's holding her emotions in check, whereas Lance cheerfully embodies each dance he's given and has shown major improvement over the whole season.  My vote is for Lance to win, but we'll see.
Brooke always looks like she's got a humongous stick up her butt.  Possibly the best dancer but undoubtedly the least entertaining and most annoying "personality".  What exactly is her stardom based upon?  She doesn't seem top have ANY natural talent except perhaps dancing nor does she have any thing to compete with her attention to her routines since she doesn't really seem to have a life.
Warren is the only reason I watch dancing with the stars.
I am torn between Brooke & Lance.  I don't think that Warren should win, because after all.  It is "Dancing" with the stars, not "Popularity" with the stars.  Warren is okay, but Cody was better.  My vote is for Brooke or Lance.  And btw, I really think Lacey is great!
