As far as Jin and Michael, I believe they will end up alive, one may be burned a little, but they will survive. Also, Sun and an expedition is going back to the island.

Sayid is the one that killed John Locke (aka Jeremy Bentham) ... who, more than likely, was the "Economist" trying to have Ben killed, while Ben was trying to have the "Economist" killed, so he can return to the island.

"Smokey" has been there a long, long time. Ben only knows how to summon, not control.

Jin survives. Michael does not. Michael had tried to kill himself several times following his departure from the island, all unsuccessful. Christian finally tells him he can "go" - as the boat explodes around him.

The island moves 3 years into the future, yet another location.

The island moved not in distance but in time. Remember the conversation between Ben and Locke underground about the bunny appearing to disappear but was still there but in another time. I think the island is where it always was but it exists at a different time. Also, remember earlier how a body washed up on shore but the same person was still on the boat.

I think the island moved back in time to a point before the boat blew up and maybe before Claire disappeared, I think this is how some characters will return to the show.

I can't believe people are so out of sorts with what is now known as a "cliff hanger". Personally I thought it was great. I am glad that they took the time last season to add some dimension into the characters...now they can do so much more with them. But to be so bent out of shape over the fact that there are questions left unanswered and new ones to boot...I think people forget that the show doesn't end for another two season or so (kinda lost count after the writers strike). So plan on a lot more being unanswered and probably more grand "WTF's" thrown at us so that when the SERIES winds up it will have an epic ending. I think they have done a very good job in making it clear that this is a continuous story and not just one detached episode after another.

1)OCTAGON commercial has to do with COMICON coming up. The producers, Lindeloff and Cuse, usually have a panel discussion during the convention in past years.

2) In an episode this season, Jack gets mad at Kate in a flash-forward because she did something, (what? she won't tell him) because Sawyer had asked her to. I personally think it had something to do with contacting Sawyer's child.

7) During the finale, Jeremy Bentham was refered to as not being the person's real name. When Hurley started to say Bentham's real name to Sayid, Sayid warned him that someone may be listening-it wasn't safe to reveal his true identity. Jack and Kate both refer to visits from Bentham in which he tells them they must return to the island. This sounds just like something Locke would be doing in the future if he wasn't living happily-ever-after with his island.

9) Claire and Jack are siblings according to several episodes. Locke seems to be the closer in age to Christian than to be his child. My own speculation is that Richard Alpert is Locke's father.

2. Sawyer asks Kate to help with his daughter somehow. She admitted to Jack this season she was doing a favor for him. Sawyer really has no other interest off-island (except maybe Kate).

3. It is unclear whether Sayid is still working for Ben or not at this point. We can assume the guy he killed outside the mental institute was a Widmore henchman. Maybe Sayid felt Hugo was in danger by Widmore? Maybe all of the 6 are.

4. The island's defense mechanism. I think it's kind of like a rabid dog that can see into your soul.

5. I think Michael is dead and Jin is alive. Whoever may have lived on the freighter must be picked up by Faraday's raft.

I agree Locke is too old to be the son of Christian. Both Locke and Ben have moms named Emily, a young Emily giving birth to John in the '50's, an older Emily giving birth to Ben in the '60's Dharma era - I think the Emilys are one and the same, therefore Ben and Locke are (half) brothers.

If you watch season one again, you can't help but notice the actors have aged some in the four real-time years the series has spanned, so next season will probably catch up by jumping to the same time period the Six are in (with flashbacks to the horrible things that happened when the island moved) - and I think the island was physically moved, as different time periods wouldn't effect the physical location.

As for Jin and Michael - well, nobody connected to the island seems to really "die", so John will probably come back to life back on the island, where we all know the Six will end up back on. I think the raft people moved with the island, so we'll see more of the freighter scientist-geeks, including apparent island native Charlotte, and Dan Faraday, who knew what "the orchid" was, as well as ghost whispering Miles, who cracks me up, especially sparring with Rose.

I think this season has been great and did what the writers said they would do - answered lots of questions, but not all (who and where is Jacob? Where is Claire and what is Christian's connection?) then of course raised new ones to make us want to come back.

ARE YOU PEOPLE FOR REAL WITH THOSE QUESTIONS/COMPLAINTS?

1. Locke's father has been a recurring character since season 2! Sawyer killed him late last season because he was the same con man whow caused his father to kill his mother and then himself while Sawyer watched. He also tricked Locke into giving him his kidney and also pushed out of a 20 storey window, causing him to become paralyzed.

2. What Sawyer whispered to Kate was whatever he asked her to do for him, which she told Jack about in a flash forward a few episodes back. What he said exactly is another mystery but it is probably for her to take care of his daughter for him.

3. Before Sayid went to Hurley he was a hitman for Ben, killing Charles Whidmore's people. We've known this since the second or third episode of the season. However, three years have passed since they "got off the island" so we will see what happened in that time frame over the next two seasons.

You people obviously do not watch the show enough to call yourself fans! Some of those questions are absolutely ridiculous and as I've proven, the answers have already been provided to us long ago! Go back and watch the DVDs and PAY ATTENTION!!! And for goodness sakes, just enjoy the show and stop complaining about not having every single question answered right away. If they were to answer all your questions there would be no story left to tell. It's called LOST and it dramatic mystery, not a sitcom! It has two seasons left and then your questions will be answered. If all you can do is complain rather than enjoy the brilliance of this show then just stop watching and certainly stop referring to yourselves as "fans"!

I think Jeremy is Locke's assumed "name" when he returns from the island, just like Ben uses a fake name (we saw that on HIS return when he checked into the hotel). I don't think Michael survives. He was right there when the bomb went off, but in this show, you never know. He just might have jumped before the bomb went off. Jin may have survived by jumping from the boat. But where does he swim to? He could have made it to the raft (considering Sawyer made it to the island by swimming). I think the raft made it to the island before it disappeared. (If it didn't, it's sad to think that Rose and Bernard are dead...) I'm pretty sure the island moved into another time. We learned about smokey somewhat 2 episodes ago. WHAT it is we don't know, HOW it is summoned we pretty well know (it's was indicated 3 seasons ago to be a "security system" for the barracks as well as Ben's summoning of it after Alex was killed). I don't think Sayid killed Jeremy/Locke... Ben stated they ALL had to return to the island including Locke/Jeremy even though he is dead. I don't think he would kill Locke or have him killed if that were the case. Remember, the ending at the funeral home is three years in the future. Who knows WHAT Locke/Jeremy might have learned and done in that time.

1) That was kind of weird about the Octagon corporation that would be a nice twist for sure.

2) We are not going to know what Sawyer said to Kate until next season. We know that Kate did do something for him when she got off the island but they never said what.

3) Sayid is working with Ben and i'm sure Ben still has a grip of cash somehow to be able to do the things he has been doing. They've been off the island for what seems to be about 3 years in the flash forward so Sayid and Ben have been working together to stop Whitmore from finding out anything about the island.

4) SMOKE MONSTER? Who knows, all we know that it is an ancient force that can be unleashed but not controlled.

5) JIN-MICHAEL
I don't think either of them survived the explosion. Maybe JIN did and was picked up by the crew left in the little boat.

I think Locke and Ben are working together to try and get the oceanic 6 back to the island. The body is a fake...

8) MOVING THE ISLAND
I agree that the island was moved in time not actually moved to another location. But there was the polar bear bones in the desert so we know it has been moved before. Unless thats where the island spits you out when you leave it. Ben tellaported to the desert when he moved the island. Maybe who ever moved it before had a polar bear near by that got sucked through the portal as well.

9) CLAIRE
Locke's dad is the dude he had Sawyer kill last year. I don't understand the whole Claire situation. If she's not dead then maybe she was just chosen to stay like Locke.

10) RAFT
who knows what happened to them. They either got sucked up in the time warp with the island or they died. Some of the people on the boat were also people from flight 815. I think they were pulled in with the island. If not they would have seen the helicopter crash and went over to help.

Sayid knew where Hurley was because Ben told him. Ben knows a lot of things and it working with Sayid. Everyone on the ship were spirited away by Christian before it blew up. The island is in some way displaced in space/time, so the move isn't too hard to accept. It's how Penelope's boat was simultaneously both hovering around the island's coordinates without actually being there, and then the boat was there after the island "moved". When the island space shifted away, it left only the normal space and the people in it.

I think the island was already hidden that way but Faraday somehow knew (possibly from his research and helping Desmond) the bearings to use to get to the island. Maybe what Ben did by turning that crank was change the constant controlling the Time difference that made the island invisible to begin with. Maybe had something to do with those crazy numbers (4 8 15 16 23 42)? My guess is now they will need new bearings to get to the island.

Can I just say that I totally agree with Rocky Halifax! This is a mystery show and in due time all of the questions will be answered! JUST ENJOY THE SHOW! Most of the questions that you guys are asking have been answered in previous episodes. This is a very indepth show and if you miss one second of one episode you are...LOST...hence the title! Just enjoy it!! It is the best TV show I have ever seen and I love to be kept hanging until next season. You can not honestly say that having who was in the coffin finally revealed wasn't such an awesome moment!! Ok, here is my hypothesis based on some details from the Season 4 final episode.

1. The markings in the wall of the Island transport cave, indicate an ancient civilization... Since the city of Altantis was lost to the sea(or transported as in the case of the island) the island could be the remnants of the city. The transport system explains the reason for the polar bear in season 1, it might have been in the arctic circles at some point. This can also explain to why the black rock was stranded on the island, most likely during a reappearance during 17-18th century. Another potential scenario, Since the island has been known to stay disappeared for a long time it could explain as to why Rousseau has been stuck on island for 16 years, Someone may have triggered the transport chamber after she crashed on the island. I'm not sure as to what was the time frame of the Dharma Initiative but it may took place during this time.

As for the others, they could be original inhabitants of lost city of Atlantis. Its possible that they are immune to the effects of time.

2. The Island seems to have some effect in memory loss as in the case of Desmond while being transported via helicopter to the freighter. The show makes it clear that island didn't want Micheal to die, but released him from his obligation on the final episode. Now back to Jun, it is very possible due to the FF scene where Jun is buying a panda bear that he survives the explosion, maybe with a case of induced memory loss. It's quite possible that Sun & Jun will be reunited in an Desmond & Penny sort of epic scenario.

3. Locke probably uses the island transport chamber to reposition the island, basically evicting him off the island just like the FF where Ben is disoriented & kills 2 middle-eastern soldiers in the desert. He returns to the mainland, & uses the Jeremy alius to keep the O6 story alive & to fulfill some kind of mission.

4. The island has a tendency to contact or "call" children who were born on the island, such as Charlotte & as in recent episodes Aaron. This might relate to some sort of prophecy...

The show really stretches your imagination!

Some of the questions are dumb...I myself will also rent the DVDs from past seasons to catchup...The show does get confusing, but in so many ways I think its brilliant tv...

Just the way the used to use flashbacks and then switched to flashforwards of the 'real world' - and how future season will probably be the 'real world' in the present and the 'flashbacks' will be the island - a total reverse of the first season is brilliant.

Among the things that many people are asking are the names. Locke, Bentham, and Rousseau are the three major Social Contract philosophers. Locke's ideas contributed to our constitution. Nutshell version of the Social Contract - that we all agree to abide by certain rules (often administered by a 'government' or leader) and when we have issues with said leader we (people) have the right to get rid of the 'leader/government' and institute a new one. An interesting discussion would be on the nature of the Contract in light of 1. The characters Locke, Rousseau, and Bentham; 2. The different philosophies of the actual men; and 3. The way the characters approach the island.

3. Before Sayid found Hurley in the alternate universe into which The O6 crossed after the Island went bye-bye, he was working for Ben. Remember Ben's hit-list. In this parallel dark universe (inspired by Star Trek's good and evil Captain Kirk) Sayid is sporting black leather, (again...thank you Star Trek). He works for Ben. So, all the non-island characters are dark clones. In Ben's case, it's tough to tell which side is darker; except maybe by Ben's sporty new dark hair (same creepiness) in the final episode. They all need to reunite, merge, whatever - just like Kirk. Gee, I wonder if the Island has a transporter room...hmm...with Ben traveling time, I think it does. Beam me up Jacob!

The man who helped locke by giving him sawyers file so that locke would know that sawyer wanted to kill his father, this man shows up when locke is born and again when locke is still young in order to test him. This all seems to have something to do with time and space, hence Daniel's(a physicist) fascination with the island. I was convinced that this island was some type of purgatory, but before the start of this season the writers said absolutely that is not what is going on. The polar bear shows up in an archeological dig I think we are supposed to believe in africa, that happened this season, also when Ben leaves the island he shows up in africa, could the island be the center of the earth, interior of the earth? Perhaps that plus the island is "out of phase" with the rest of the earth. It is after Ben has Sayid kill certain people that the "Black Smoke Monster" shows up and kills the soldiers, is this some kind of "If I go back in time and kill my father I can never be born" paradox, hence the "black smoke monster" is the new timeline being implemented? some sort of correction to the present? Remember that mind bending episode with desmond and daniel, remember the mouse, it knew the maze it wouldn't be taught for two hours so it remembered the future in the past thus the need for a "constant". We assume certain things to be flashbacks and others flash forwards, but time is relative and we are never told explicitly when things are happening within the timeline. The doctor washes up on the beach with his throat slit before it actually happens. The "package" that turns out to be a clock that shows a different amount of time as being passed.

Good Morning America showed the various 3 endings to the season finale where both Sawyer and then Sayid were filmed in the coffin as well (to prevent the information from getting leaked out before the broadcast). The dialogue never changed about the reference to Jeremy Bentham though. This type of planning from the writers is typical and dates back to "Dallas" (television drama) where many cast members were filmed to have "Shot J.R." to maintain the confidentiality before airing.

Theories -

1)The fact that the pseudonym Jeremy Bentham was used for Locke tells me that Locke has gone from man of faith to man of science - look up the philosophies of the two actual people.

2)Jacob = Alpert. Who else doesn't age, and has been involved in some way in recruiting people to either come to the island or do the bidding of the island (note how he manipulated Ben and Locke)

3)Jin is not dead. Nobody actually saw him die - including Sun and the rest of the O6. He's still on the island. The mindtrip people refer to where Jin is delivering a gift to a minister, was actually a flashback interspersed with the flash forward of Sun giving birth.

4) The octagon commercial (thanks lostpedia) is most likely the start of the new ARG, as it takes place at the same time and in the same city as Comicon.

5) Locke gets off the island next seaon, and he either dies halfway through the season, with the other half focused on them going to the island, or he dies at the end of the season, and 6 is about them going back to the island.

Somehow Locke is Jacob, I'm still not sure about Jeremy. Perhaps Jacob is a disembodied Locke and bringing his body back will allow him to become Locke again. If you pause during the split frame when Jacob first appears, it is clearly Locke's profile and bald head. Upon returning to the cabin Jacob is no longer there, i believe he is afraid to talk to himself (time/space continuum problem) I'm not sure weather Ben knows this or not.

The island could have changed locations, or time, or both, as it seems to have the ability to move people through both (Ben, Desmond, Richard) why not the island itself?

Could Charlotte be the young girl that Ben first met on the island as a kid? I need to go back and watch that episode and listen for her name.

When the island moved the smaller island that held the Hydra station also disappeared suggesting that the effect had a radius that could have included Faraday's raft.

well I have another question well its not a question per se but whatever ... Has anybody else is as "Lost" as I am while corroborating the whole 4 seasons in total. I mean I still an not able to make sense of the counter thingy, than the man who tricked Desmond into base station who was he was he one of "the others". What was the intention of Ben to get Sawyer and Kate along with Jack when it was only Jack he needed for surgery and even if for argument sake we say that eh needed someone to blackmale Jack to do his surgery than why Kate and Sawyer , why not anybody else, is it because he was aware of the ongoing chemistry between the trio. And I can't even begin to think the logic behind Kate and Sawyer working in field. To top it all now in fourth season it is being alluded that the O6 that survived belong to island and they should have remained in the Island like everybody else, if that is the case than why the hell they were treated like outsiders in the first place by "the others", remember one of "the otehrs" said it's our island. I may be wrong but I always feel that writers of lost were onto something else, they had the story from the beginning but they deliberately inserted some elements to create suspense and now they themselves are "Lost" while filling up those dots and spaces so much so that while joining they have forgotten some of the fill in the black..what about Walt ..he shows up like ghost at various point than while Michael was held by "others" one of the lady(which in subsquent episode was held by Lock Kate and Sayid while they were on rescue mission of Jack) came up to him and asked whether he feels that there is something about Walt, he shows at various places...what was that about and then suddenly Walt shows up and ask Lock to get up when he was shot by Ben ....then there is Ben who said that not all the decision is made by him ...I can't understand his relationship with Jacob as of now.. is it like initially he was the blue eyed boy till Lock came into the picture and now he is no more Jacob's favourite ..
Phew ..there are lots of things that bugs me about the whole body of the show in all.... I am a big fan of this show but still there are many thins that I don't find convincing ......

A lot of these questions dealing with technicalities (i.e. VHS tapes being destroyed by electromagnetism or a doctor discovering Jack's surgery) shouldn't need to be answered because there should be some sort of suspended belief for the viewer. For crying out loud, they just moved 6 mile square chunk of mass, maybe things are just a bit different on the island, maybe Jack's physical was performed by a physician in the loop. People are silly.

Uros islandA floating island is a mass of floating aquatic plants, mud, and peat ranging in thickness from a few inches to several feet. Responding to Jin still being alive: I suppose that it is possible. However, the proof of the "flash-forward showing Jin buying a panda for his boss's newborn" is inaccurate. That particular episode followed Sun in a flash-forward but it was a flashback for Jin. It was meant to trick you. But it was definitely a flashBACK for Jin. At the very end Jin tells the nurse he is not even married. His personality is definitely the old Jin as well, very tempermental.

In that episode there was a split between a flash forward - sun having her baby, and a flash back jin trying to find a panda for his boss daughter, it was clearly done like this to make you think jin was finding the panda in the future for sun, and was alive, which is revealed as false at the end when sun goes to jins grave.

1. what is the black cloud and don't forget the creature that killed the pilot.

The smoke monster is the black cloud and it killed the pilot. Juliet explained ages ago that it is the island's defense mechanism. Ben seems to be able to summon it - but not necessarily control it.

2. If Locke is Jeremy Bentham, then why do Jack, Kate and others refer to him as Jeremy Bentham and not John Locke.

They are using the Bentham because of the cover story. Bentham is obviously a false name that Locke uses - just like Ben who had many passports etc with different names.

3. How did Locke(& ben) get off the island?

I'm not positive we know the answer to this yet - but it's obvious Ben and Richard have left the island. Even the other (can't think of his name now) who went to see Michael said that a few of them can leave the island when they want to. Ben only said that if someone MOVES the island - he/she cannot return. As the new leader of the Others - Locke would be taught their secrets.

I hope these help - it seems to me some people actually need to pay more attention to the show! I only watch the show - I don't participate in the website experiences and all that - but still some of these questions seem to indicate people aren't actually watching. To Rocky of Nova Scotia: I COULDN'T HAVE SAID IT BETTER MYSELF!!!!! I was reading all the entries and getting more and more angry at the so-called "fans" that ask the most ridiculous questions, while seeminging skipping over the true unanswered ones! This is truly the best drama on television and one of the very few that don't talk "down" to us. It is mystical, dramatic, thought-provoking symbolism and I love it! Perhaps those of you that don't "get it" should watch a movie called "Idiocracy" - it's about what happens (comically) if we continue to dumb down our society. Not a GREAT movie, but the plot makes a good point. Lost's season finale was spot on - answering questions and giving us more to look forward to for next fall!

I can say without reserve that Lost is the best show I have ever watched. It is incredibly intelligent and keeps you thinking until the next episode airs. These are my views on the finale.

Sawyer whisperred a location of a stash he has hidden in the "world".....don't forget, he's a con-man. That would justify Kate's reaction, "Why are you telling me this?!"

Faraday's raft picks up Jin from the water. The shot of the boat just before it explodes has nobody on deck. Micheal is toast. Not only does Cristian "allow" him to die, but Hurley hints to his death with his eyes when Walt meets him at the sanitarium. So in my opinion, in three years Hurley hasn't heard otherwise.

Ben is a pure bad-ass, and could make quick work of anybody on the cast-list......even Sayid. He didn't waste a breath on Keamy when he disarmed and killed him.

As for the skeptics, tune into a dumber show. That's what you want to watch. The whole idea of Lost is unanswered questions and mystery! Think of how incredible the series finale will be when we are finally all let in on the secrets of the Island!

The Oceanic 6 said in the press conference that there were no other survivors. Locke has to use another name when he somehow gets off the island. He's looking for the six because something happens when they left the island.

Sayid buried his wife because she was murdered...Ben meets him w/dharma jacket on (after he moves the island).

Connection with Jack: Jack went to Australia to retrive his father's body and bring it back to the US for burial..which was never completed. Now he has to return Locke's body to the island.

The panda bear episode was a flash-forward episode for Sun, but it was a flash-back episode for Jin. Jin's actions occurred in the past, when he was still working for Sun's dad. At the end of that episode, we saw Jin's tombstone, which had the date of the plane crash as his date of death. So, Jin very well may have survived the explosion of the freighter, but the prior episode didn't provide any evidence of this.

This is my first visit here, it's very enjoyable reading. EXCEPT for the supercilious know-it-alls who are annoyed at all the questions. Umm, guys, this is a place where we're SUPPOSED to ask and discuss our questions. You seem to have missed that. You also seem to think that asking questions equals complaining, because you have both told the 'complainers' to shut up and pay attention. I haven't read any complaining, just a lot of people asking for help keeping all the intricately woven threads straight and speculating about the answers as-yet unrevealed. I suggest that those who think they are smarter than the rest, and are therefore impatient with the postings, should be the ones to go elsewhere while we who enjoy the show even with our less-than-perfect memories have a good talk about it all. You might think, too, about getting more of a life- though I warn you, it may lead to the same inability to remember every little thing that the rest of us suffer with.

I have so many big questions, as I have been skillfully manipulated to by the clever writers and producers etc, that I will just bring up a few smaller issues: I agree that Rose and Bernard are a loss if they are in fact gone, what a sweet side-note that has been. And I can't believe that we are done with whats-her-name who was Daniel's sidekick and is still looking for her birthplace. I'm sure we will find out where and why Claire went off- and left Aaron?!?!?!! There are so many threads that I know I've dropped, I look forward to their coming back around as they always seem to. I find myself wishing for a future technology, where I can highlight a character and push a button, and a sidebar 'tape' will run, following all I have been shown about that character to date.

I just wonder if, when "Haggard Jack" is telling Kate in the FF that they have to go back, that, when Kate says she has to go because "he's" gonna wonder where she is, is she talking about Sawyer? Did he make it back somehow and end up with Kate?

I am thinking that somehow "Locke/Bentham" was convinced to die (even if it was suicide, which I doubt, but, as we all know, with this show, anything is possible) with the promise of going back to the island and being resurrected. Him being dead (suspended animation?) has to somehow be for the betterment of the O6.

I also think that the Arctic conditions that Ben experienced in that tunnel and hole where he turned that wheel, somehow ties into the polar bears.

Will Halliwax come into play at any point?

You see, that is what is so great about this show is that there are SO MANY variables at work; so many possibilities. The show makes you think below the surface and at alevel higher than some stupid sitcom with canned laughter. This is an extremely cerebral show that requires the viewer to consider everything. There are so many "Easter eggs" in this show. I just love it, and I will be very sad to see it go in 2010, but thank God for DVD sets. I WILL own this series.

I would guess that Jin is alive - not because of the episode where he buys a panda on behalf of his boss to give to a business associate. That was a flashback - not a flash forward: when Jin was a tough enforcer for his father-in-law.

I agree with the comments earlier about not getting so wrapped up in finding out the answers to all the questions out there right now (I'm still waiting to find out why the statue has only 4 toes). We have two more seasons of being pleasantly tortured. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

I think she died then but because of the island's unique properties she didn't appear to have died yet. Then the island chose her to go to Jacob and Christian.

Jack and Clair are siblings but they are not related to Locke.

We thought for a while John Locke's father was Anthony Cooper the man he gave his kidney to but we found out later it was all a con and he was not his father after all. Just conned John out of a kidney. But he was the man that contributed to Sawyer's parents' deaths and so Sawyer killed him on the boat.

I am thinking that Richard Alpert is John's father too and he has been waiting for him and now he's ready...or is he? Some bad things supposedly happen on the island after is moves.

Sun says that other people did get off the island so they either get off or are still on the island. It seems odd they would get rid of Faraday's character like that when he seems to know so much about the island.

Lost, that's the way i feel after watching the show. No longer do i sit through an episode of the go no where boredom. It was a great idea in the beginning, but sadly that soap has "lost" its suds.
I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Gilligan will probably show up on a future episode. He and Mary Anne could have partially populated the island. something having fallen from the sky has given them supernatural powers to shape shift. I think the smoke monster has something to do with course correcting time... like making sure everyone follows in the footsteps to their final destination.

2. Sawyer told Kate about his daughter, Kate was following through with his favor, she was on the phone with Cassidy when Jack was jealous about her conversation. she was laughing because her and Cassidy are friends, shown from previous episodes.

3. Sayid was taking Hurley so that he can go back to the island, knowing that it was the only safe place to be away from Widmore.

4. Smokey is a defense mechanism that can't be explained just like the island disappearing, time travel, why dead people can be seen, etc. this will be answered later.

5. They are both dead, Michael's character is no longer needed for the show, however Walt (who looks much older, obviously) will need to return to the island, same with desmond and frank. Jin's death probably has something to do with his DUI last year, just like Ana-Lucia, and Mr. Eko, there real life legal troubles forced the producers to cut them out of the show some how.

6. Why does Jack have hair in one cut (shower scene with kate) and the next he doesn't? who cares?

7. Locke is Bentham, to protect his identity, obviously. Jack mentioned that after they left, there was trouble on the island. between then and now, 3 years elapsed, which we know that all four seasons of lost alone, some 90 days or so have only gone by.. 3 years is a lot of time for Locke to mess up his position is the others "leader". probably forcing him off the island, and wanting Ben to return.

8. Moving the island probably moved the island to the future, it would be hard to explain to the viewers what happened in those 3 years that have gone by unless no time was lost, only in the real world.

9. Claire can see her father, just like Jack thought he could see his. no explanation why she left aaron, but in the first season the psychic tried to make her give aaron up for adoption, there's something bad linked with Aaron, like there is with Walt (killing birds, etc.) Locke's dad has been revealed already? He was the con man who pushed Locke out of a window and paralyzed him, he is also the man who conned Sawyer's family, ultimately leading Sawyer to find and kill him.

10. most likely they came with the island itself, there were others from the oceanic flight, for them to be back in the real world doesn't conflict with the oceanic 6 story.

Someone said they think Richard Alpert is Locke's father. That's a stretch I think going on looks alone, plus didn't Richard visit Locke's home when Locke was about 5 years old--was supposedly interviewing him for some school or something, can't really remember...Locke's mother was there too, she saw Richard so that can't be his father.

I think the idea that Locke and Ben have the same mother is interesting, but where would Locke have been when she was having Ben? They showed that time frame.

That scene was a flashback. It has been confirmed by the writers that while Sun's scenes were in fact a flash-forward, Jin's were a flashback. So you can't assume he is alive from that episode.

Also, all characters that are not the Oceanic 6 but are from the plane crash lie about their identity b/c the Oceanic 6 said everyone is dead. When Walt goes to see Hurley, Hurley refers to him as Walt and Walt corrects him with another name. I am sure that is the same case with Locke. Desmond doesn't have to change his name bc he wasn't part of the Oceanic 6.

I think the island may physically change places, possibly time. I think that explains polar bears and big foot.

Tom was killed in the beach rescue, I think. Sort of in the middle-ish of this season, when Rambo/Bernard, Jin and Sayid blew up a couple of the nastier Others.

Michael wasn't immortal so much as he wasn't allowed to die yet. The Island had things for him to do, and until he was finished, his suicide attempts would continue to fail. When Christian visited him on the freighter, it was the sign that he was allowed to let his life end.

It was also my understanding that there were flashbacks and flash forwards in the episode where Jin buys the panda bear. I sincerely hope that he's alive and that I find out I'm wrong about that, but I was under the impression that everything in the episodes involving Jin was a flashback to early in his marriage to Sun and everything involving Sun was after they returned from the island...

And to the few people in this thread who have commented that they don't watch this show... why on Earth did you take the time to post that if you aren't interested? I wish I had that much time on my hands!

Just a comment. It is going to be interesting in the Next season with all the possible flash fowards and flash backs! Will we see the 06 go back to the island, and from there, will we start to see "flashbacks" that at present of this writing, have not occured yet?

Lost is now entering daytime soap opera or Twilight Zone material and is getting ridiculous. They are making it up as they go along. I have a feeling that when they finally wrap the series up for good it will be a GIGANTIC LET DOWN!!

Mary Ellen -- you say, "they are making it up as they go along". How else would you do it? Make it up in the future? You say the show is far fetched, but your comment suggests that the writers should use some supernatural abilities in which to create the show, while time traveling. 99% of the people complaining about the show and its plot, are actually avoiding the real problem -- the show is just to far over your head. Almost so far, that it is almost like Oceanic 815 is buzzing over it. Go back to watching Sponge-Bob reruns, if this is to much for you to handle or if you need your shows spoon fed to you.

Cmon guys, the island was moved the same way the guy moved in The Time Machine...moved ahead a second or two,so it wouldnt be in this time,it would be a second ahead,ala another demention so thats why it cant be seen. Watch the season again,to easy!!

Jin buying the panda bear

I think this is a flash forward, because wern't all the flashes in this season flash forwards? Not backs? It wouldn't make sense that all season long we would be seeing the future except for at that one point.

I think Jin is alive. Who knows how. But I think he is. Why would the writers spend so much screen time on his funeral if he wasn't alive?

Lost is truly a magnificent show! It gives viewers a chance to think and question, as well as surprise and awe us all at the same time. How many shows have done that in the past? Lost is meant to be a dramatic sci-fi mystery, therefore you have to keep watching the show till the end if you want all the answers. I think that most people's frustrations and questions would be answered if they went back and watch the episodes over again. Once you take a closer look it will make so much more sense.

Oh my gosh, Jinsy, this has been my theory since the beginning. I've never met anyone else who compared the island to Atlantis.

One person said we've been told Anthony Cooper is not really Locke's dad, but I don't remember that and Lostpedia says that he is in fact Locke's father. But even if we didn't know about Anthony Cooper, Christian is WAY too young to be Locke's father. The actors are only 8 years apart in age.

as far as Jin goes...the flash-whatever was a parallel time-line. Jin was living the life he would have had he not married Sun. He wasn't a lackey in his 'Sun' life - he was an enforcer - he didn't go around buying panda bears for Sun's dad's friends/co-horts.

I think locke is bens brother. Anthony cooper can't be lockes real father. they said the father was twice the age of his mother. His mom was like 16-18 in the 1950's, which would make the dad like 90 now.

Great board. I too want to know why Libby was in the mental institution with Hurley, that story line was totally dropped!
I think Richard could be Locke's dad, I think Locke was adopted so that was not his mother in the house when Richard visited.
Also, I think the other person Sun blames for Jin's death is Jack, not Ben. When Ben told him they all have to go back to the island Jack said something about Sun blaming him.

To the many people who think Jin is "for sure" alive because of the Panda bear storyline, I ask you to PLEASE re-watch the episode "Ji Yeon", and that this time, you refrain from bathroom breaks or trips to the fridge or answering the telephone. PAY ATTENTION this time. It was one of the best episodes this season. Highly emotional. It is a shame that the significance of it was "lost" to so many of you the first time around. Whether or not Jin is alive is still a mystery. Personally, I'm crossing my fingers that he got far away from that freighter in time and that we find him alive and well next season. Seriously, re-watch the episode. You won't regret it.

people people! kidney stealer/con man pro/guy sawyer kills. was never locke's dad he just pretended to be so he could get a kidney!!! the whole thing was staged remember dude payed a lady to make the bs up that he was locke's dad... but he never was! p.s. richard was there during locke's birth?
