I'd read through about 200 of the comments on the original posts and no one mentioned my favorite (which I forgot to mention): "The Magical Amount" commercials for the truth campaign. It has a singing unicorn. What more can you ask for?

The best ad on television right now has to be the Washington State Lottery ad. For those that haven't seen it, it involves a team of hang gliders taking birds hang gliding - birds that can't fly. There is a penguin who is just so excited to be flying, and a chicken with the proudest look on his face. They even strap an emu in and take it for a cruise. It ends with the tagline "Whose world would you change?" This one gets me every time, the birds are just SO excited to be flying!

I love the new Burger king commercial (AND i ALWAYS HATED THEM!) A woman walks up to 2 mean eating their new onion steakburger and asks the one "What did you do to deserve that?" and he replies "I donated half of my income." She looks approvingly of him then asks the other fella the same thing waiting for this terrific answer. When he says "I was hungry?" the woman waits a minute then out of the blue smacks him one...then when you are getting over the shock of national television commercial letting something as negative as getting smacked happen, she does it again! It's like a Tom and Jerry cartoon or Wile E Coyote cartoon where violence is funny. I don't advocate violence, but I think because you didnt expect it, it was funny!

Wow, I can't believe I forgot about the Jeep commercial with Rock Me Gently on it. I LOVE that commercial. My class also loved it so much they brought in a CD with that song on it and had me play it all the time. At the end of the year they decided it should be our "class song". Any commerical that can get a bunch of 6th graders to love a song like that is a great one.

I don't watch that much TV (prefer the internet), but with local news, Jeopardy, and Discovery channel there are a few things I watch. I also love the AT&T ads, especially the Motorhead guy ("even though you've called like THIRTY TIMES..."). The "WAR KITTENS!?" guy for whatever credit card company it is... And of course the Discovery channel ad (I couldn't figure out the one line "boom-di-ada" or whatever it is, so thanks for letting me know).
But I STRONGLY disagree with the Mr. Bill ad. That is one that I mute every time it comes on. Guess that one might end up in the love-it-or-hate-it category...

Use technology to time shift what you watch. Don't buy the products or services of anything you see advertised on TV. They are generally overpriced or not good for you.

My favorite one lately would be for Cingular, where the mom finds minutes in the trash. Her teenager doesn't want to use them, since they are from September, but she reminds him that he should be thankful because not everyone has rollover minutes. The look on the kid's face, and the mom's face as she washes off the minutes in the sink, are just priceless!

The new verizon one where a normal looking Dad is warned about the "Dead Zone" around the corner where the family is staying. Its so over the top its funny. Okay, somehow I had NEVER seen the Jeep commercial and that's really just hysterical. I love the look the guy gives the wolf. Ahh...thanks for making me laugh first thing in the morning.
Speaking of good car commercials, I still love the super bowl commercial - I think for Lexus - with the guy swerving to miss the deer, and swerving to miss Alice Cooper eating who knows what in the road but speeding up as if to hit Richard Simmons. I think that's the one that we were all chuckling about around the water cooler the day after the game. Pity they only showed it the one time as far as I know.

I mentioned these on a previous thread, but the eTrade talking baby ads are priceless. I especially love the one where he throws up at the end (Whoa), and the one where he rents a clown (I really underestimated the creepiness factor). The effects are done so well that it looks very real, and just makes me laugh every time!

Also - the "boom-di-yada" ads are the best - last I saw on Discovery they show a very shortened version instead of the full version. Hopefully with all the response, Discovery will still show the full version and we can all enjoy it again.

I love the commercial with the baby on the webcam who they made to look like he's talking. My favorite commercial on TV right now is the AT&T rollover minutes (just a recycled Cingular commercial, but still), where a mom finds unused minutes in the family trash can and says, "Whose minutes are these?" An argument ensues and she says something like, "Just remember, there are some who don't have extra minutes." It's wondrously funny and also satirizes the overabundance of everything here in America where we no longer even worry so much about others starving in the world, but whether we run out of wireless minutes. Good, good stuff.

I would like to submit a Volkswagon commercial, where the mini-SUV chases down a bad guy Jason Borne style. But there's one that gets me the most, a child who wants to be a superhero and the schoolteacher that plays the bad guy. I get teary-eyed every time I see it. That kid is so cute!

We watch a lot of the Sprout Channel (PBS), and lately they have this ad where all these parents and kids say, "Sprout, please" (to encourage people to tell their friends about the channel and get their cable/satellite companies to carry it). It might be annoying except it has this Elizabeth Mitchell song we really like in the background ("Three Little Birds"). Whenever the commercial comes on, my almost 2-year-old son claps and bounces to it.

I love the California Happy Cows commercials - especially the one where they are trying to teach the yoga duck to say "Moo" instead of "Omm" and the one with the rooster when the one cow tells the other to "Hit the snooze" and the rooster comes hurtling out the barn door. My favorite version of the "no bars' commercials is the one in Hong Kong where the business rep calls the client "Mr. Stinky Fish Face" because his boss couldn't get through to him to tell him the proper Japanese pronunciation of the client's name.

One of my favorite commercials is (I think) the E-Trade baby commercial. It debuted during the Super Bowl with a baby throwing up after buying a stock, then he made so much they hired booboo the clown. It must be my contrary nature but I actually can't stand the Mr. Bill commercial. I either fast forward or mute it. It annoys me. I'm also in the minority as far as the commercial that I like. I think the "most advanced piece of technology you'll ever pee on" is actually pretty funny. The one I do have to agree on and really love is the Liberty Mutual. That one is just lovely.

My husband likes the etrade commercials with the baby. My favorite commercial and I haven't seen it much is for Tide(?) where this guy is at a job interview and the interviewer is trying to listen to him but there's this annoying voice talking over him. Turns out it's a stain on his shirt that's making the noise and distracting the interviewer. I also like the "ain't no bugs on me" puppy. I sing that to my daughter sometimes in the car if she's having a bad day.

What I don't like is the Genuine Draft commercials where they try to find someone "genuine" who admits he got too much change, or helps get a cell phone back to someone who lost it.

The implied reference that only men are genuine grates on me. Or maybe they think only men like beer.

I think i mentioned this on another thread, but I just love LOVE the talking stain commerical! Where the guy is in an interview and is describing his impressive qualifications, but each time he opens his mouth to say something, the coffee stain on his shirt starts screaming nonsense really loudly. I love the War Kittens one as well, really funny. Never saw the one with Alice Cooper and Richard Simmons, wish I had!! My all time favorite one was a few years ago, and I think it was for a sterio system, can't remember the name now. But the guy is driving in a car, singing to "Another one bites the dust", there are ladies in another car next to him and he is just cruising and singing and flirting witht he girls, and then the camera pans out and he is the driver of a hearse in a funeral procession. You just didn't see that coming, that's what made it so funny. I only saw it a few times and I think they yanked it due to people complaining about it being in bad taste. Some people just have no sense of humor

I love the Boom-Di-yada ads and the Free credit report and Subway ads are both incredibly catchy.

I do not see the appeal of the eTrade baby at all. It's gross and creepy. I hate talking babies--I really didn't like the baby Bob ads from a few years back, either.

And the Washington Lottery is cool but why would the birds care about flying if they aren't meant to fly? I would think they'd be freaked out by it. But the little penguin does seem happy.

My current favorite is the commercial with the little boy throwing a baseball in the air and trying to hit it. Each time before he tries to hit it, he says "I'm the greatest hitter in the world!" and each time he misses it and he says "Strike one." "Strike two." After "strike three", he stops and has this lightbulb moment and says "I'm the greatest PITCHER in the world!" I don't even know what the commercial is advertising, but we rewound it and watched it three times. Very cute.

A casino in MN runs some great ads about your luck being better at their casino than the current situation your in. One ad has a scrawny little guy, playing pool in a bar, challenging the big, biker dude to a "dance-off" because the biker dude keeps hitting his pool cue when he walks by. My fav of the series was the young guy in a Ford Escort wagon, challenging the police car next to him at a stop sign, to a drag race. Sadly, that young actor, Chase Korte, was killed by a drunk driver. That particular ad isn't shown anymore.

Another commercial that is running again this year is the Corel dishware ad with the models on the greased runway. I never fail to get a laugh out the blonde squealing and disappearing from the screen, to be seen again rubbing her bottom, while the rest of the models pile up behind her, trying to avoid slipping too.

Hated Mr. Bill spots on SNL, so I'm glad not to have seen the commercial. Yuck.

I actually really like some of the Dunkin Doughnuts commercials - not the Rachel Ray ones - the ones with the songs. THe guy "reluctantly helping my friend move", the song is just funny. They also had a peewee hockey one this past winter that was also really funny.

I love the "Rock me Gently" Jeep ads. Great stuff.

And I'm putting another vote in for the Liberty Mutual responsibility ads, and also the Heineken commercial with the people from different walks of life sharing a Heineken with each other. It's a positive ad, which is rare for a beer commercial.

Another great ad is the one for the Honda FCX Clarity (the fuel cell vehicle) where all the gansters are fighting in a warehouse with water guns and water balloons and at the end the voise says, "What if we replaced something harmful with water?"

Ok so I am in love with the Verizon commercial with Meatloaf! Maybe because I love Paradise by the Dashboard so much. But that kid kills me when he bites his lip and starts rockin out.

The Washington State Lottery commercial is by far, hands down, the WINNER!! The coolest commercial I have EVER seen!! I think most of you would agree once you see it for your first time. I drop everything that I'm doing when it comes on. I don't know what it is but once I hear that song from that commercial I'm in it! It's just weird to me that this commercial actually gives me goosebumps. I usually don't even pay attention to commercials too. You can see it on YouTube.

The Washington Lotto commercial is the best, I agree. I was SO moved when I saw it, that I googled it and sent it around my office. Everyone absolutely loved it!! I love it more each time I see it.

The best one I've seen is the take your kid to work day, where the child is taken to a bank with his parent. He sends all sorts of things through the drive thru tube. Poos guy sitting in the car had no idea.

Honorable mention is the talking baby ad, saving money and buying a clown.

I'm surprised that I haven't yet seen a mention of the Pemco ads. Yeah, once again it's a local ad, but those ads and the website affiliated with them (www.werealotlikeyou.com) have done a great job of poking fun at many of us in this area. My favorite ad in their series is the Blue Tarp Camper... it is just the perfect reminder of one particular camping trip on the Olympic Peninsula. The roll of wet paper towels is the perfect touch! Maybe these ads won't be as funny for those not familiar with the Pacific Northwest, but many of these ads make me chuckle even after seeing/hearing them many times.

Megan, the Quality Hotels song would actually be "I've Been Everywhere" by Johnny Cash.
