Hmm...well I'm the one that watches CSI, Deadliest Catch, and the crazy Japanese game shows with a high personal injury rate (Unbeatable Banzuke and Ninja Warrior specifically).
My husband is the one that religiously watched Sex in the City when it was on as well as Grey's Anatomy. (urp)
Somehow I don't think gender dynamics apply to our tv watching.

I'm not a regular viewer of Deadliest Catch, but I do like it when I watch it. I also love SVU and CSI. HBO's entourage is another must see for me, even though it is often about boys behaving badly. I also used to love MTV's Jackass -- although I am female and older than the target demographic (which must have been 12-20 y.o. boys)!

I was psyched to find out after two seasons of staying up late to watch Top Gear on the BBC that my wife enjoys it just about as much as I do. Getting her to sit through an hours long show about cars each weekend makes for a nice break after our chores and gets me out of insufferable cooking channel Jello mold bake-offs!

I live up where the Ice Road Truckers show was filmed. Noone up here really understands why people enjoy watching it so much haha. Oh, and the making of the roads is WAY more dangerous than actually trucking on them.

I'm a sucker for good crime shows, Law and Order, CSI, anything like that. I also love action movies. Give me Gladiator or Die Hard instead of Sex and the City any day.

I agree with the person who said that gender doesn't really have anything to do with what TV shows we watch. Of course, my husband and I don't each always want to watch the same shows that the other does. But the majority of shows that we watch, we both enjoy, regardless of who the target audience is.

Ice Road Truckers, Dirty Jobs, Deadliest Catch, Family Guy, Weaponology, All the Law & Orders - you name it and I watch it w/my husband. I have to disagree w/ the above mention - Nip/Tuck is SO God awful - it makes me cringe and I hate all the characters. I realize it is supposed to be full of satire and irony and is a commentary on today's society, etc. etc. but it still comes across as shallow. Both of the male doctors are YUCKY not hot.

I'm actually really surprised at this list. I wouldn't consider any of these shows to really be "manly." Just because they may involve male primary characters, crime/violence, and/or war - does that make them manly? SVU may be a 'cop' show but it's incredibly empowering towards women (female lawyers/cops/protection of victims). As for "manly" shows that I love - Top Gear is on my list. I'm not particularly interested in fast cars or fancy cars, but something about this show is very addictive.

For me it's (and was) The Wire, Law and Order, all of the MSNBC documentaries (most notably the Lockup shows...when these come on, I simply HAVE to watch, and especially now since the new season has started). I also like Adult Swim on Cartoon Network late night. Adult Swim is definitely a guy thing (in my opinion), but I just can't get enough of Family Guy and Aqua Teen Hunger Force! (yeah, I'm a bit of a grown-up kid, too).

I love all the Law & Orders and the CSIs, as well as Without a Trace, Cold Case, The Closer, Saving Grace (although I'd like it more if Grace quit smoking), NCIS, Criminal Minds, all the Star Trek series, Ghost Whisperer, and Monk. I hate reality shows of any kind, so Ice Road Truckers doesn't work for me. I enjoy good documentaries, like they had on History channel and Discovery before they went overboard on reality shows.

And you can tune back in to SVU, Casey's gone as of the season finale, and they're bringing in some new chick. The new tart better keep her hands off my Meloni too though, because in the midst of Benson's crimefighting, the woman's waiting for some Stabler love, don't you think?
