No you're not the only one with an irrational dislike of a commercial spokesperson. I've honestly never met a single person that likes Billy Mays...or whatever his name is...the Oxyclean guy that yells everything. My fondest tv land wish is to grab him by the ear and say, "Shh...use your *inside* voice".
And on a different note I love the ad series with the Motorhead tickets but my husband and I are trying to figure out the new one about Spain's beaches and how some are "More naked than others." Why does the dad's alter ego keep looking down at the end there...is he chagrined at what his family saw or is he a little too "happy" about not getting the message about those beaches? Kinda weird...

One more candidate for best and worst ads. I saw a new commercial the other night with Neil Patrick Harris, where he was telling us to buy some form of deodorant, and we could trust him because he used to be a fake doctor, or something like that. It's one of the funnier ads I've seen in a long time, and NPH's fake pomposity helps to make it well worth watching.

For new worst ad, the KY commerciela for "his and her" KY's where they talk about how each one gives them a different feeling, as they are taking their clothes off and hopping into bed. Just a little too much information, there.

My favorite commercials are the Mac-PC commercials, but of those, my favorite is the one with the cheerleaders, first cheering "Mac is #1! Mac is #1!" and then PC reminds the cheerleaders that they are supposed to be cheering for him. They continue with "PC is #2! PC is #2!"

Least favorite are the Taco Bell commercials where the woman carries tacos with bacon in her purse while out at a club to attract men. Yuck! Also, any ads with the Burger King plastic-headed guy are low in my book...

Chad and the rest of the cell phone company dorks have worn out their welcome. I am also over the State Farm girl who can't figure out what deductible she can afford. Sometimes I think if I see the caveman dancing one more time I'll throw somethng at the TV. And those ED ads that wind up with the couple in old fashioned bathtubs holding hands. Frankly, I can't think of any of those "talk to your doctor about....(name the drug of choice)" that aren't extremely annoying.
I don't drink, but I must admit I like most of the Bud ads, especially with the Clydsdales. And I still like the Gecko ads.
And how about the car ads cutting down on their speed demon driving. It's criminal and stupid in this day and age to sublimily promote such reckless behavior, not to mention the cost in gas.

one of my favorites is the "active gas pump nozzle" with the tag line "gas pumps hate us" - i think the ad is for honda and their 30 mpg vehicles. i expecially like the one where the nozzle lets the air out of a tire while the driver is getting a sandwich (or paying for gas?) and the new one i saw today when the nozzle went behind the vehicle and unhitched the owner's boat. destructive? yes. but so funny lol.

Favorite Ad: Baby E-Trade ad with the clown he rented with his extra 'coin'...Hilarious!

Favorite Campaign: The ATT ads with the phone/alter egos talking are great and original, but they still won't make me switch to ATT. The one that cracks me up every time is the dad looking for his daughter up at make-out point.

Least Favorite ad: The Saab ad that repeats the same line over and over.

Least Favorite campaign: All of the Erectile Dysfuction ads bug me, but particularly the 'Viva Viagra' ad. I thought they retired it, but then they brought it back. Who ever thought that up should lose their job.

Here are three to hate: Freecreditreport.com. Leaving aside for a moment the fact that you have to pay to enroll in a pricey plan in order to get their "free" service, the whole use-us-or-lose premise is false and just plain offensive.

Enjoy: the Swiffer ads with the old mop or duster getting dumped, fired, convicted etc. The new one with the tearful mop trying to be taken back isn't as funny - this campaign may have run its course.

I'm sure they have both been mentioned many times, but I currently have three faves:

1. The cingular ad with the minutes that were from September. The kids voice when he says he doesn't want to use them just makes that whole commercial!

2. Also for a wireless service (Cingular maybe?) the one where the dad takes his little girls sock monkey and sends the little girls pictures of it actually chokes me up.

3. The ad for Liberty Mutual in their series about taking care of your fellow man featuring the young lady in the wheelchair. She struggles through getting down the steps, the pouring rain, and a gate that is closed. It's revealed at the end she went through all the hassle to vote. Kinda makes you think we all need to have a little more civic pride.

I also love the boom di yada commercials for discovery!

I'm not sure if I have seen it listed but I absolutely love the diaper commercial that shows the dad changing the baby boy and as soon as the diaper comes off the little baby sprays the room, but everytime the diaper covers the baby it stops, and the dad goes back and forth like that for a while until he finally picks up the baby and is amazed about how much the diaper holds. Any one who has every changed a baby boys diaper can surely relate to that humor a little bit. I just can't remember who the diaper commerical is for I am thinking Huggies.

This is one I haven't seen before and I found it rather appalling. It's for one of those companies that offer cash for your old jewelrey/gold. Seling old jewelrey doesn't seem like a bad thing, but this commercial takes it too far. It starts badly with a husband keeling over at the kitchen table and his wife calling the company to sell the gold off his not-even-cold body and then veers into downright creepy with a caretaker lady coming after her elderly charge for her gold teeth. I'm sure it's supposed to be humerous, but I think it's WAY too much!

Hands down, the most annoying commercial to me is the Sleep Number ad featuring the girl band SheDaisy. Yes, the girls are attractive, and their song is a catchy little tune, but what drives me crazy is the utterly incomprehensible lyric that opens the ad:

I just want to pull my hair out every time it's on...I can't seem to hit the mute button fast enough to avoid that part.

The ExtenZe commercial with Frank and Brigitte has got to be the creepiest thing I have ever seen. Everything about the guy reminds me of a child molester right down to his creepy, smirky laugh. And Brigitte looks like she has some kind of problem with her eyes...an attempt to be flirty gone WAY wrong.

Of course, Head On commercials have to be somewhere on the worst list. They even acknowledge that they suck by apologizing for how annoying they are. What a waste of advertising budget. I can just imagine that meeting, "Guys we need to buy more airtime to apologize for how horrible our commercial is about to be"

I haven't been to impressed with commercials this year, but E*Trade's Mobile Baby 2008 is my current favorite. I love the voice actor they used, and "Hey girl, can I hit you back?" has got to be the funniest line out of all their E*Trade baby commercials.

The commercial that gets my vote is the one where the mom is picking up her kid from school. He is sitting all alone in the back seat, eating mac and cheese. It's pouring down rain, and one of her son's friends asks for a ride home. She looks around the nearly empty car and says, "I'm sorry, there's no room," implying that the product's taste is so big that it leaves room for nothing else. She smiles apologetically and drives off, leaving the kid standing soaked in the rain. Just gets to me on every maternal instinct I have left. The other ad I've seen for the same product is nearly as bad. A young man is eating lunch (mac and cheese) at an otherwise empty table. An attractive young woman approaches and asks if she can eat with him. His response is, "Sure, but where would you sit?" and she walks away. Is this sad, or what?

I hate the Axe commercial with the anorexic feminine looking guy is walking along imagining all of the women he sees to be in their underclothes. At the end he sees one he likes, sprays the Axe and they both turn to each other, he seeing her in her knickers and she seeing him in his disgusting Speedo. For one thing, they both look like they need to eat some bread or cheese or something, bony things poking out everywhere. I absolutely LOVE the commercial where the dad takes pictures of the little girl's sock monkey in all of the places he's been and sends them to her. "Sweet pea, apple of my eye..."

I also love the Discovery Channel commercial (who wouldn't?)

I'm not sure if these ads are from previous years but I have to mention the pay-it-forward commercials for Liberty Mutual insurance. They are very thought provoking and inspirational and they should be played more frequently. And they make me smile :)

I cannot stand the Secret deodorant commercial with the woman who keeps lifting up her arms to smell her pits. It is definitely not good advertising.

I also don't the Axe commercial with the girls flying with jet-packs up the guys nose and then having a "scent throwing" party or something. That is ridiculous and I seriously doubt anyone sat there and considered buying that product so they could personally experience girls rocketing up their noses.

The Jack-in-the-Box commercial is the BEST. The guy in the van can't decide how many tacos to get - little wobble head Jack suggests 30 and the guy replies "Thats what I was thinking!" Pure genious, if you think about it. Thats what you call direct marketing.

Also, the gum commercial where there are two foreigners and a dolphin. The animal spits on one of the guys he looks mad - the other guy replies "Oh come on, KiKi, that was funny!" No real reason for being funny, other than it is. I love it.

Chiming in... The commercial that has to be my least favorite right now is the one with the girl running around town with arms in the air, showing and smelling her pits. The pits!! And foolish marketing. Close behind are all Burger King ads with the King in mask and constume, and the giant cockroach ads, and Billy Mays screaming about anything. As for faves: love Neil Patrick Harris as fake doc, the beer commercial that reminds me of the old Coke "Hilltop" commercial "I'd like to buy the world a Coke...", Discovery commercial with "I love the flowers..." as the song, dad sending sock monkey photos to kid, ad for same company (?) with dad and son sharing breakfast across the world from each other, and Cingular ad about milky rollover minutes - my favorite bit is the little finger wave (unh-uh!) of the mom to her son at the very end of the spot.

Great Commercials: Neil Patrick Harris is great in his "I played a fake doctor on tv ad". I totaly love that one.

I live in Washington State and I love the Group Health commercials. Most people probably dont see those nationwide but they are awesome.

Horrible, they should be ashamed of themselves Commercials: Any burger king ad with that scary king in it. I refuse to go to burger king as long as those are running. When that king is looking in windows, sleeping in beds, etc it just seems to stalker-ish to me.
The guy on the Discovery channel that does the ads for tougher in Alaska or whatever that show is. He is disgusting and rubs me in so many wrong ways. I love shows like Ice Road Truckers and Dirty Jobs but I wont watch this one cause of the host. I even change off Discovery to avoid his commercials.

The new Secret Deoderant commercial. I will by Degree after this. How stupid can a commercial get. Do the makers of Secret really think we are so stupid that we cant understand anything intelligent so they have to market like this?

They are hosting a call in advice show and a guy calls in about how his girlfriend complains about his spare tire. Each of the guys gives his advice and Harvick's is to try a new girlfriend. The delivery is great and the look on Sadler's face is hilarious. I'm not sure what product it's for but it cracks me up everytime. And I'm a girlfriend!

I don't think anyone has mentioned this ad, and I don't know if it's national (it should be: it's for Outback Steakhouse), but I absolutely crack up every time I see the commercial where the foursome is golfing, then they decide that they'll eat at Outback when they're done, and they proceed to absolutely blow through the rest of their game. There's a sequence where they all take their tee shots at the same time, then they "putt" by guiding the ball with their club - just hysterical.

Best commercial of the year though, by far, is the Discovery Channel Boom Di Ah Dah - just so well done.

I saw a commercial for "Mighty Dog" last night that was really clever: you see signs for "Saint Bernard" and pictures of snowy mountains, then the shadow of what looks like a huge Saint Bernard dog with the traditional keg of brandy. I've got to say, some of the worst commercials are the "fake restaurant" ads, where they stage fast food in nice looking restaurants. I think the one I saw the other day and liked was a MasterCard ad...It was where some parents took their kids on what looked like a wildlife preservation, and an elephant ends up sitting on the hood of their car. The laughter from the kids and the look of horror on the parents face as the elephant sits just killed me!

There's some gum ad in my neck of the woods that has a guy walking around in Speedos. Then he chews this gum, and he (and everyone else around) gets splashed by a wave coming out of nowhere. This is stupid enough, but there was one where he was wearing a green Speedo, and the unfortunate choice for background music was an instrumental version of "Little Green Bag". Nice one.

I love the freecreditreport.com ads! I do not know anything about their service, but as an ad, they are catchy, the cast is charming, and you certainly remember what is being advertised! I seriously can't believe people do not like these ads, but I hate "cute kid" ads, so to each his own.

HATE the diaper commercial where the father is pretending the baby is a wrestler and the mom yells "DING DING DING" to end the round. I hate the 5 reasons Secret commercial for more than one reason. First of all, it's an obnoxious ad, and secondly--that Secret Flawless deodorant is what replaced the discontinued Secret Platinum I used! (It sucks, it's just regular stick deordorant.)

No one seems to have mentioned the Geico commercials with Flo. Something about her inflection and intonation when she delivers her lines makes me laugh every time. I especially like her take when a customer starts buying insurance for items his wife didn't know he owned. When Flo yells surprise and sees the wife's stone face, Flo immediately senses the wife is not amused and says, "Let's wrap these up, then." Very funny.

ok - i really hate the secret deoderant commericial where that stupid girl walks around with her arms in the air. give me a break - i wish that cop woud arrest her for public indeceny. i have to change the channel every time that comes on. Plus i can't stand the Sonic commercials with those 2 morons in the car. those 2 are complete idiots. and the Burger King commercials with the King completely freak me out - reminds me of something from childhood nightmares. If I saw that thing in my house the police would be taking it out in a body bag.

I forgot about those creepy Orkin commercials... Most of their commercials are creepy though, oh yeah and teh plastic burger king head ewwww!!! I dont know why anyone thought it would be appealing to wake up in your nice comfy bed turn and see some big creepy plastic head laying in your bed with a tray of food...

Not many might see this, but it is a commercial for the show Eureka on the Sci-Fi channel in which the main character starts singing "Won't you be my neighbor." It's campy, but so is the show, which makes it perfect. I also really enjoy the boom de yada commercials on the Discovery channel. They really are warm and fuzzy.

My husband loves the alter ego commercial where the dad is searching for his daughter at the make-out point. Really close to home on that one!

I HATE the commercial about watching the woman's fruit spoil because it's not in her specially formulated bags. Would someone just please find a way to channel all that ethylene gas into auto fuel and let that woman's fruit rot already!

I really like the "we hired a celebrity" insurance commercials (is it Geico? Progressive?). Especially the Mrs. Butterworth one. I laugh every time she says "someone has put a logo right over my face!" As a Washingtonian, I loved the flightless birds Lottery commercial which I think was mentioned a few times.

As for hate, I have a few: hate the "Secret" commercial girl (annoying). HATE "Smiling Bob" from those ED ads (creepy). Hate, HATE the Burger King guy (SCARY!!).

I can't stand any of the drug commercials, but the one that really gets me is the Evista ad. The drug is intended to prevent osteoporosis in POST-menapausal women, yet one of the warnings is that it shouldn't be taken by anyone that is nursing, pregnant, or may become pregnant. OK.?.?...

I chuckle each time the wasted rollover minutes commercial runs. The mom is priceless. The son is "spot on" and the dad's sigh is perfect.

I must throw in a vote for the commercial where the guy is calling his recent date and keeps leaving messages saying something like "oh, that sounded creepy". I have seen that he has a show in the coming season. (I don't know his name.) The funniest part is when he tells here he is a good salsa dancer and makes the movement (as if she could see it).

I live in a state where AT&T does not have wireless service at all. That's why the "too bad you don't get a signal" ads annoy me. I do get a signal from their competitors when I am standing out in a field. However, I could stand in the middle of the state university and not get an AT&T signal. Maybe they should work on covering the U.S. before bragging about coverage in China and France.
