I agree completely. I think Cloris' presence this season especially highlighted the weaknesses of Samantha Harris' presence backstage. I loved when Cloris reached over and grabbed the piece of paper that told Samantha what the judge's scores added up to :o) That was great - she can't be expected to add those three numbers that quickly!

She may be a great person, but I just don't think the extra eye candy is necessary...Heck, most of the women on the show are prancing around in as little fabric as the censors will let them get away with...Last week, our "day after" conversation at work even drifted off to how close Brook Burke came to a wardrobe malfunction...(I seriously thought the left side of her chest was trying to break free of the outfit she was wearing, which I thought looked like lingerie and the sheet she was wrapped in...)...

I LOVE Tom Bergeron as the host, and I think he could carry it all on his own...But, Drew did a great job, too...Maybe, if he needs a sidekick, it's time to find a sharper, wittier one...If we get any more eye candy, I might get a cavity...(haha)

Thank you for finally putting into words what so many of us viewers are thinking. Samantha is a lovely woman, I am sure, but she is not the best person for this position. She tends to be condescending, she butchers the English language at times, and she is not a natural for live television. I do wish ABC would replace her. I think Brooke Burke would do an amazing job. She has now had the experience of doing the show, she seems well liked by her fellow stars, etc. Samantha had a nice run, but it is time to see her go.

My sentiments exactly. I absolutely love this show, but I can't stand to listen to her. I have to mute the television every time she raises that mic to her mouth. She adds nothing new to the show and she has no original thoughts or commentary. She simply repeats what Tom, the judges or the dancers say. She's yet to make one eloquent segue in her interviews/commentary. She has no ability to connect with either the celebrities, the professional dancers or the audience. Why is she on this show? There is nothing wrong with Samantha Harris. I agree that she adds little to the show, but I do not find her even remotely offensive. Not sure where all the negativity is coming from.

That having been said, no host ANYWHERE can even come remotely close to Cat Deeley on "So You Think You Can Dance". I LOVE her!! She is everything a host should be.

Her interviews are terrible, she constantly cuts the dancers and pros off when they're talking, and she's never quite sure where to put the mic when she's not talking. Yes, she's an attractive lady, but she needs to gain a little weight - she seems to get thinner every week since she had her child. Women with bodies like hers are what is wrong with Hollywood. Samantha's role could easily be eliminated - there is no value added. I think she is probably a very nice person, but she is not a very good interviewer and does not keep pace with Tom, who is always spot on. I feel very uncomfortable and cringe when she opens her mouth. She does not come off as confident in her role, hence the awkardness. Drew was great but in the end, do we really need someone backstage? I agree with an earlier comment - give the couples their scores right there on the stage. At the end of the day, the show is fun and light-hearted and Samantha just seems out of place and out of her element.

I am so happy to read what I have been thinking and saying since Samantha started on the show. Her questions are ridiculous and I don't feel she is needed at all. When she comes on I mute or pause my DVR and then fast forward through her needless conversations. I say get rid of her. Tom is great and can handle it without her.

Samantha is alright. I think she does a great job and we don't need 2 funny people. I hated when Drew Lachey filled in, talked about riding your 15 minutes of fame to the end. Samantha's role is needed, if anything the producers should give her more time with the contestants when they come back to hear their scores. Also, the show doesn't need to be so male-dominated.

The worst Samantha moment for me came this season when Lance (or Cody, can't remember which one) got a score of 23 and he said something about MJ - and Samantha said that was a little music history for you.

Duh. While there is an MJ in music, the association of those initials with the number 23 should be obvious - and if it isn't obvious, keep your mouth shut! The stars were tittering in the background after that.

Samantha is very pretty but looks like she's awkward to be around. She does this fidigty thing like she's running in place while interviewing the dancers in back....it irritates me to no end.....just stand still!
They need someone who is capable of dealing with the eccentric (Cloris) and boring (Susan Lucci)....she doesn't adjust to the personalities nor is she able to mediate any situations that arise.

Do you all remember the first Season of DWTS? I can't
remember the co-host's name but she was terrible. Next season they got Samantha Harris and she, while not that good, was better than the first girl. I agree Drew was very good and I really enjoyed his time as co-host.

Recently the show rebroadcast highlights from the competition night the hour before the results show, showing just the dances and the scores and leaving out the silly field trips and Samantha's "interviews" backstage. I do not think so!
I wouldn't say she is absolutely terrific, but she contributes greatly to the show. She is a quick witt as well.
But I agree with what was said about her style, it has been dreadful at times, and two other things, she is getting too thin and her biceps are oddly overtanned, I noticed everytime she interviews by the side, the light hits her arms and this unnatural shade of tanning is shown.
But please keep her, Lachey was a good dancer but awfull as an interviewer!

She's really got to go...Nick did a fantastic job in the short time he filled in. Plus, I think it helps that he actually was a dancing performer so he "gets it". I agree with most of the previous comments. Samantha is beautiful. I enjoy seeing her gowns each week. My appreciation of her stops there. I will miss Cloris Leachman as she added a great deal and would be perfect in Samantha's position. I also FF through Samantha's part as I don't watch the show live (or vote) to make it shorter. Harris is needs to go! Has anyone ever noticed how rude she is. Watch the next time when she says back to you Tom, he always says thank you to her. I agree, Samantha Harris doesn't really add much to the show and seems to lack the talent/personality that should be a requirement for her position. I like to hear what the dancers have to say after they get their scores, but SH seems so awkward when talking to them backstage. She didn't know how to handle Cloris one bit that was very evident. I don't listen to what she says as usually it doesn't add anything to the show and is more or less a time filler of sorts. I also agree that the shows (especially the results shows on Tuesdays) are way TOO LONG!! Do we really have to have someone on to perform every week? Just get to the point already.

We have always wondered who she was--wondering what her credentials were to get the job, and never could figure it out. As far as nice looking--I realize that fashionable maternity clothes are not always easy to find--but hers were absolutely awful. Each week we commented on her outfits. But as far as actually doing what the job entails, she is pretty awful, and I wonder if she feels as uncomfortable doing it as she acts. Samantha is lovely and very likeable, and has a reasonably pleasant voice. But that also describes the young woman who works as a teller in my bank. And I can't imagine the teller doing a worse job coming up with interview questions. "How proud are you of [your partner's] hard work?" "How much do you want to win this?" "How disappointed would you be to be voted out this week?" "How much has it meant to work with [your partner]?" What are people supposed to say in response to such questions? "Oh, about a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10?" Almost all of her questions are simply setups for completely predictable answers. She might as well just use declarative sentences: "Tell us you are really proud of [your partner." "Repeat after me: I really, really want to win." "Look into the camer and say, 'I couldn't have done it without [my professional partner]." One possible function she serves has been overlooked: she gives Tom a break during which he can think up some of his great ad-libs. So maybe she should stay, but please, dear God, let the producers feed her some meaningful questions to ask.

I only listen to and watch the dancing. Scores are a useful assessment. But the rest of the 2 1/2 hours is a waste and should be compressed. The interviews like Samantha's would automatically get dropped. Keep Tom and the three judges and present the final results in 5 minutes at the end of the first 1 1/2 hours after listeners' votes are tabulated by the next broadcast day.

You are so totally wrong. It's not Samantha. It's the trite, predictable situation in which she is placed. She is the loveliest, sweetest thing on Earth! It's like the hopeless situation of interviewing an astronaut wife or a football coach, there are only a limited (and excruciatingly repetitious) number of flavors of comments that the dancers can make (except for Cloris, I wish I was 30 years older!, I'd do her!).

The best way I can describe Samantha's whole persona in this particualar format is "wet blanket." If she can't dampen the enthusiasm of the contestants after a good performance or make those who got low scores feel even worse with just stupid and rude comments, then she quickly segues into "WELL...we all know you won't be coming back unless you get the votes, so..." Even the studio audience seems to lapse into an awkward silence during her interviews -- like a "Debbie Downer" moment, if anyone remembers that SNL sketch?! To be fair, I think this show just isn't the right fit for her. It brings out the worst in her personality, sort of how large parties bring out the boorish clod in some, while that same person may behave differently in more intimate gatherings. I think it would actually be better for her career to be on a show that is scripted & structured, with a serious tone, not one such as DWTS that requires light-hearted, off-the-cuff banter. It could be that her looks have hindered her efforts at being considered something other than a spokes-model...I don't know.

Tom's job keeps him at a professional distance from the celebrities. His job is to play to the TV audience and keep the show moving. Samantha gets up close and personal at one of the most awkward moments in the show. The celebrities are full of excitement, emotion, and relief and her job is to ask them if they felt judges comments were accurate and if they got the scores they deserved. It's a very emotional moment. I'm sure many of the celebrities have egos that get in the way. Give her a little credit. I think her interaction keeps it real, foibles and all.

You say Samantha should go? Pffft! I say she SHE somewhat makes up for the truly weakest, most embarrasing part of the show: the band! That band has got to go! They destroy great songs. I only really know about the latin songs but I assume they are doing the same hack job on the others. It is horrible to hear a song I love mangled by their lifeless interpretation. I think they are given the music sheets but they are never allowed to hear the original music so they get some idea what to reproduce. Too bad!! I cringe hearing them.

Funny, I have been thinking the same thing these past few shows. Samantha Harris is ineffective. She stammers and fails when she tries to deliver a snappy come-back or vignette. Ok, really. The demographic is women! I must disagree that this might be about women not being comfortable with another beautiful woman. Every woman on that show is gorgeous!!! So, that being said, my husband and I have contests to figure out what Samantha is going to say each night. "Do you think your career is over, after what you did out there?" We also pretend we are the panicked directors who are in charge of cutting the camera away after one of her infamous remarks. Really, we have found a way to be entertained the whole show, maybe not the way the producers always intend.

I really must say, Samantha is so very beautiful, and obviously very bright. She doesn't deserve to be bashed. But, we wouldn't ask Carrie Underwood to sing opera, would we? This format just doesn't display her gifts.

Wow, can't a woman make a serious observation about another woman without being called "catty?" All you guys just feel sorry for her because she's pretty and think we are attacking her personally. "Aww the poor thing!" -- that's more condescending than anything I know. You cannot objectively say she doesn't stink in this particular format AS AN INTERVIEWER. You notice that every woman felt she had to soften it with "she's probably a very nice person and she is pretty..." -- when we are crtitiquing her PERFORMANCE - NOT who she is OR her looks!! But we all know as women that we are judged by men by our appearance and so that's how they think we judge each other, that we must be in constant personal competition with everyone woman around us -- a male-fabricated myth. My husband records the program for me because I work the evening shift at our local hospital. When I get home, I really don't care what the celebrities have to say back stage, infact; I fast forward through that part and the commercials just to get on with the rest of the program. I think Samantha Harris could be put to better use on the program. I found Drew Lachey to be very hard to understand, at times, with his speech impediment. The "football" evaluations of the stars is very entertaining and fun to watch. WHO is she? Where did she come from? I assumed she was some ballroom dance person. Apparently not. Plus, I first saw her (& DWTS at beginning of last season) when she returned from maternity leave and thought her stunning and beautifully curvy. Now that the 'baby fat' has been exercised(or exorcised in Hollywood these days?), I think she looks concentration camp-thin. I'm afraid I must agree with the others. Samantha Harris must be stopped.

She's absolutely lovely, and not at all bumbling. I love her being on the show. She adds a touch of class, and the dresses she wears are so lovely. She has a great figure and a wonderful personality. Leave her alone and let her do her thing.
