Now I have read all 4 and love this series. Its easy reading, takes me back to the heartbreaking days of being a teen (I too cooked alot as a teen...we had a large family) and just really enjoyed the whole story. I'm not sure what the appeal is...its just there. You get caught up in the characters and just need to know what happens. I hope the movie lives up to the books!!

Ready for 'Twilight' to fall

I havent been 14 in over a decade, but i, too, love these books. Like you, I appreciated the vivid portrayal of teen angst and awkwardness that made me think about my own high school days. While not necessarily great literature, I was really impressed with the vocabulary level of these "teen" books. I loved that Bella is a big book reader and that her own vocabulary reflected that. The subtle eroticism of this series has to be contributing to their popularity as well as the romance and vampires. I'm also a huge vampire fan and it was great to see a whole new tradition with all new rules--lots of room for more novels set in this vampire/werewolf world! And yeah, I had a hard time deciding between Edward and Jacob...
Ready for 'Twilight' to fall

I'm 26, and I fell completely in love with these books. When I first heard of them, I was a bit skeptical. I'm a Twilight Mom! Let's face it, she was in her 30's when she wrote the first one-In fact, I turned on several of my coworkers to the series. 11 of us pre-purchased tix on line and only 2 of us are not age 20 yet but we'll all be there Friday night!

It's just a great escape. I read all the Harry Potter books too-I don't like the comparison because they're totally different, Twilight is more Romeo & Juliet rather than a wizard with a scar whose parents are murdered and coming of age tale.

I couldn't put any of the books down HP or Twilight and yes, I agree-that love you first have in high school is something we all can remember. I will also admit that I read through them very quickly because they are teen reading.

About the reviews you read of the 4th book...for me - thats my favorite book. I've read it twice. Maybe because I'm older (mid-twenties) and what happens in that book relates to more of where I'm at in my life. Then again, I usually like that movies that the critics hate and think they just don't know what the hell they are talking about! haha. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series.

Ready for 'Twilight' to fall

I am also way over 14 years in age and I absolutely loved these books. I have read all four and am sad that the story is over but I can't wait for the movie to come out. Never before did I find a book that I couldn't put down, except the Harry Potter series. But this series grabs you in a completely different way, its hard for me to describe. I believe that Meyer is creative because she puts a whole new spin on the whole "Vampire and Werewolves" myth. Her version of the mythical creatures is very believable and not too "out" there in my opinion, but that is just me. I certainly hope that she continues to write many more books about this subject. I would absolutely love more Edward and Bella but I do realize that every story has to end.

Ready for 'Twilight' to fall

Don't be afraid of the fourth book. I love vampires and was devastated when "Moonlight" was canceled. [I think someone at CBS should be fired for that] I mean HBO has a hit with their vampire movie and now Twilight.

I have watched the trailers and read the premise of the series, haven't read the books but plan to. I am drawn by the handsome guy who protects the helpless girl. It's an ageless story but I don't get tired of it. The actors in this movie are beautiful and it doesn't matter that they are younger than my own offspring, I'm really going to enjoy their love story and the action and scary adventure with the bad vampires and werewolves etc.

With this economy and all of the things to worry about in daily life, I really need a break from reality and I chose this show to disapear into. I hope it's as good as predicted, I can't afford to waste money attending a bad show. I predict that lots of other people my age will be attending too, we all need escapism.

Ready for 'Twilight' to fall

Gael

you will probably enjoy Breaking Dawn because there is alot of Jacob in it. I will be in line on Friday, eagerly awaiting the film with a few other adult ladies who share a love of the Twilight series. The writing is smart and funny, and leaves you with that nostalgia of what it was to be young and in love. Another teacher and I pondered about the appeal of the book to the middle schoolers we teach. We hypothesesized that the genuinely "good boys" in the book are what young girls are looking for, and sadly cannot find. Don't read to heavy into the reviews for Breaking Dawn. Go into it with an open mind and you will be pleased. I too read the spoilers and the reviews and was a bit discouraged before hand, but after reading BD twice, I happen to like it very much. It is written differently than the first 3, but well worth the read, and it IMO ties everything up nicely but leaves room for more exploration later.

Ready for 'Twilight' to fall

I can relate! I am 38 year-old mom with 2 kids. My 14 year old read the books and I thought I'd read just to see what the attraction was (plus, I wanted to know the story before going to the midnight premiere with her). I was HOOKED, addicted as soon as Bella first saw Edward. Took me back to high school too... I keep thinking how wrong it is to refer to the saga as 'teen' fiction. Stephenie Meyers has inspired so many older-than-teens with her characters from Twilight. The backstory of how the story came to be and the references to books, music and other things that inspired her through the writing is inspiring me as a creative professional. Love the books and wish (and hope) that more will come!

Ready for 'Twilight' to fall

I started the Twilight series on a whim since I read about all the buzz of the fourth title in the series. I too am not a 14-year old male and I am also not a romance reader; however, I am captivated with the book series. There is something about the way the series is written. It is just one big collection of emotions that forces the reader to look back at those obsessive high school years. I am about to finish the second book in the series and I am still interested. So far, I tend to like Edward more than Jacob but both characters are interesting in their own way.

Ready for 'Twilight' to fall

I am very excited about the movie as well but I will be very angry if they butcher it like they did Eragon... Edward is a Gary Lou controlling stalker of a boyfriend and Bella is the weakest and most selfish female character I've ever encountered. I wish more people, young adults included, read and loved Jane Austen books more than books like this. Or other classics like Wuthering Heights. This is just too light for me. Ann Rice's vampire books were much more appealing.

Ready for 'Twilight' to fall

I can't wait! I'm a 26 year old and am probably too old to be enjoying it as much as I am! I'm on the fourth book and it is killing me that it's taken me a week to read it! I have read all 4 books in a matter of 2 weeks. My poor bf must be getting a complex, he's been neglected over the last few weeks. I am highly anticipating the movie release. From the few trailers and clips that I've seen, it looks like it will be true to the book. I also dont know what it is about this series. I am not a hopeless romantic, I HATE sappy love movies, But this was amazing. I could not put the books down! I think every girl/woman has felt the way Bella has, at least once in her life. The way she longs for Edward, how her life revolves around his very presence. Its simply amazing. You can't help but get attached to the characters and their emotions. I was a crying fool while reading the second book. I just felt Bella's heartbreak. I can't really decide which of the 4 books I like most. I really liked all of them, I guess if I had to choose, it would be the 1st. It's where you see Edward and Bella fall in love. Oh and btw, TEAM EDWARD!!hehe.

Ready for 'Twilight' to fall

These books are for all ages not just teens yeah im 14 but every one should read this its the best.{team edward}

Ready for 'Twilight' to fall

Dear Twilight Readers...I so enjoyed reading all of your comments...and bet I am older than all of you (but not a vampire, unfortunately)!! Have always had a "thing" for vampires...thanks to Anne Rice. All 4 of these books were an easy read, each one leaving you wanting more. My son, who hardly ever reads books such as these (he always has his head in an IT magazine) has gotten hooked and he and I have a date on Friday to see Twilight. Though not great literature, isn't it wonderful when books such as these spark our imagination and take us some where where we have never been (but, would like to go).

Ready for 'Twilight' to fall

50ish Mom here... I've read them all! Breaking Dawn feels more rushed to tie all of the loose ends than the other books, but it is still a satisfying read. Some scenes are fabulous, some make you squirm, but overall, I enjoyed the book very much. The series strikes a note in all of us with the Romeo-Juliet feel of forbidden love. The star-crossed lovers are constantly being pulled apart by friends, family, and circumstances beyond their control, as well as by the usual teenage angst. Throw in some of the swash-buckling romance staples of a damsel in distress being saved by her larger-than-life hero(s) and you have a great formula for a romance. The unrequited sexual tension provides a nuance not usually felt in most modern romance novels. Sometimes, less really IS more.

Ready for 'Twilight' to fall

I also loved these books. If you go to S. I think my favorite character would have to be Alice. I think it is a shame that Ms.Meyer felt unable to complete the companion book to Twilight. I've read the draft on her website for the first 12 chapters of Midnight Sun and it is brilliant. Can't wait for this weekend and afterward for the DVD to be released, hopefully the movie will be a blockbuster and will ensure the making of New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. I own the series and would like to compliment my collection with the DVD's. Thank you Ms. Meyer!!

Ready for 'Twilight' to fall

I'm 42 and I read all four books in a week! I love this story and I can't wait for the movies! My daughter and I are such great fans of the Twilight Saga, we both got Twilight tattoos! :) Keep up the great work, Stephenie! We love you! xoxo!!!

Ready for 'Twilight' to fall

I am 46 and I have read every book in the series.
