I'm not as vested in this year as I was the previous years and don't know why. I'm just not bonding with this group although I still read the blogs and forums. As for who's going to win - my money is on Melinda. It's shaping up to be a Melinda-Blake showdown - I think Jordin will meltdown. Lakisha is not going to be the American Idol.

See, with the exception of Jordin this past week, she's been my favorite all along, with Blake as my #2. Here's why: Melinda is easily the best singer... BUT!, do you want to buy her album when it comes out? Some people will of course, and it'll be a damn good album for sure, but I can't see her having a hit. She's not "mainstream" talent... in other words, she'll be in the same catagory as Fantasia, LaToya, and Tamayra Grey to name a few: fantastic singers with mediocre appeal post-Idol. Look at those that have done really well: Kelly Clarkson is a huge pop star. Chris Daughtrey's rock band is selling like crazy. Carrie Underwood is country magic. These are three genres that are huge in today's music scene. Blues and Soul just aren't that big on the iTunes download list, just ask poor Taylor Hicks or Ruben Studdard. Why is America so keen on voting for people that they enjoy watching but aren't willing to actually PAY for? I can truly see Jordin and/or Blake putting out a very successful, popular, and GOOD pop album. I voted for Chris last year because I liked him enough that I would pay for his music, and I did when his album dropped. I won't buy Melinda, and I don't think a lot of her voters will either. LaKisha is in the same boat. Mel's the best singer, but unless you're a soul fan with lots of that already on your playlist, you're not going to put down $15 for her record. There's more of a market for pop/rock/country music (look at the success Bucky's enjoying right now in country for Pete's sake!) than there is in Melinda or LaKisha's likely-to-be-chosen genre. Jordin or Blake would be the better choice because they'll have the better success later on. It's not fair, no. But it's true. Unless someone has a better explaination for why so many great singers (again: Fantasia) aren't doing as well as they "should."

Melinda is good, but she's completely unmarketable. Look at Taylor Hicks. He was a brilliant performer, never in the bottom 3 and won effortlessly, yet his album came out and he is currently one of the most underperformed idol winners in the history of the show because he catered too much to an older demographic. I'm so sick of hearing how this show is a "singing competition". It's not even close to being a singing competition. It's an "American Idol" competition. In this post-MTV world, an "American Idol" has to appeal to a young demographic and Melinda just doesn't do it. There's a very specific reason why Kelly Clarkson is a superstar and Ruben Studdard is not. Melinda is simply weird looking and sounds old. She has absolutely no market in pop music. Which is why, if she wins, they'll probably give her tons of urban music like they did Fantasia and eventually force her to do Broadway so that she doesn't fade from the spotlight completely.

Blake has guts and creative talent. He can be a producer or something behind the scene. He can sing well if he don't beat box. He was bad in that song. I don't think mixing beat boxing in the song goes well for me. Phil is a better singer than blake but phil lacks personality or has the desire to win it. He does well in patches of few second during his performances. I really think this 4 people left are as bad as you can get. Yes they can sing in their own style (not my liking), only jordin has star quality but she does n't have that mature singing ability. Enough of she is only 17 ....she is getting many pity votes with that line. It seems as though AI wants her in final either with blake or melinda. Without sanjaya the show is really boring. Even with his bad singing , he was entertaining.

Blake, Melinda, Lakisha, and Jordin can truly sing. It'll be hard to watch anyone go at this point. I decided fairly early this year to pick a favorite and stay with her, until the end. Because of the awesome talent that it left, I'm going to continue to support her, unless she screws up royally. I think being a "Idol" is very difficult. They get one take. Many have out-sung most of the established talent that has graced the show, and I think all of the "Idols" that are left are better than anyone I heard last year. Good luck to them all!

I tend to be futurestic and dynamic in selecting winner's talent for Idol. I have backed Melinda and Blake all along as being the top two...(I saw a uniqueness in Blake from the beginning)...but after Blake's "take" on the Bon Jovi song, I wouldn't rule him out as having a big edge on Melinda now!!! Melinda, tho a GREAT singer,(and she WILL go far)...after all this time, still doesn't have the "stage presence" needed for concerts, & personal tours, etc. She's "sweet" but not "edgie & fresh"!! As long as she is in a recording studio she could probably belt out those songs for platinum cd's, but Blake has PLENTY of "stage presence", a GREAT personality to go along with his unique arrangements on different genre's of music...and he too, WILL make platinum cd's, since he could actually appeal to a wider range of audience. I totally agree with this article. While Melinda has obviously been the future AI from the start, it's Blake who interests me the most. Having watch "Idol" every week I must say that I believe that the last 4 remainder of the exact right ones to be standing. Next week is set to be a test for everyone! I do however find it hard that to think that Blake will go next week. Although when it comes to singing he cant hold a note to the other three, but then again we all know this isnt a singings show, its a popularity contest which is why Blake has a shot at winning. Honestly I dont think Melinda even needs the show anymore she has proved time in and time out that she can ANYTHING and propbably has the record studios calling her. I'm all for a Blake v. Melinda finale. It could be the best Idol showdown since Clay v. Ruben (since neither Carrie nor Bo brought their A game to all 3 of their finale songs), and no matter who won, they would both get contracts with Clive and have excellent chances of putting out hit albums. (The Idol/RMG execs blew a lot of golden opportunities with the debut albums of Kelly, Justin, Clay, Ruben, Diana, Bo, Tamyra, and other AI grads, but with the way they handled Carrie's, Kellie P's, and Daughtry's debuts, I think maybe they've finally gotten a clue). Much as I like Jordin and Kiki when they're at their best, I think an all-female final 3 would be as unexciting as Season 2 was after George Huff's exit. And should the unthinkable happen, with Melinda following in the footsteps of Tamyra, LaToya, and Chris Daughtry next week, Blake would be my only remaining reason for continuing to watch this season. Jordin, I'm sure, is marketable and might ultimately rival Kelly Clarkson's success, given the right songs, video producers, promo, etc. But neither she nor Lakisha bring anything new vocally or stylistically to today's music scene. Melinda's sound is eclectic and retro enough to change up that scene. But my money's on Blake as the one from this season who could become a really big star. For one thing, he'd put on a wild concert!

In reviewing the emails regarding the contenders for this year American Idol I am a little concern. Although Melinda has consistently performed well, I do not think she has the better voice. And all of us know that experience develop and perfect talent. As someone who is trained in music, LaKisha has the better voice. To know Lakisha is to know a geniune lovable, caring and kind person. Lakisha is equally as talented as Melinda, but without the experience and exposure. I'm still disillusioned from last year when Daughtry didn't win. Taylor Hicks couldn't sing his way out of a paper sack and his spastic moves were painful to watch. Blake's version of "You Give Love a Bad Name" was disrespectful to Bon Jovi. He took a "classic" Bon Jovi song and made it suitable to the crowd of music listeners who don't know the difference between singing talent and the talentless but gimmick laden. In the 80's there were artists/singers on our radio like Bon Jovi and now we have mostly entertainers who barely sing. I was disappointed by Jordin's performance this week but feel her singing ability is far greater than Blake's will ever be. I predict a Melinda-Jordin final with the title of AI going to Melinda. If Jordin wins, though, I will be extremely happy as I think she has the look, the singing ability, and the marketability. Whatever happens, I think she can be as big as Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood with the right management.

Of the final four Blake and Jordin are definitely the most marketable. Yes, Melinda can sing, but her style is not what is hip and now. I tend to feel that AI should not be open to people who have been paid professionally to sing. To me it doesn't seem like an even playing field. Kiki is a good singer as well, but as has been mentioned, seems to be missing the "star" factor. For Melinda and Kiki, their future seems destined for Broadway, not the top 40. Jordin, to me, has the most "star" potential, she comes across as humble and pleasant. She's not an awesome singer, but sings well. She definitely gets my vote for best performer. She consistantly, week after week, comes out and performs. And last but not least, Blake. I don't feel he has a fantastic voice but he is very marketable. I can see him having a great future in composing and arranging and possibly having the honor of being a "one hit wonder". Whatever way it goes, these people are brave souls and they all deserve the best and have my respect.

even though blake is my favorite, i think one of the girls will win. imagine not seeign what they look like and hearing them only.. blake isnt the strongest singer (so he compensates by beatboxing, dancing, and looking good) but the girls all have strong voices. i think melinda and jordin have been getting worse but lakishas stepping it up (probably since the judges have been giving her negative comments). but unfortunetly i think america is vain and theyll pick the wrong person to be idol (i think its gonna be jordin). either way all four of them will get record deals and whose to say the next person to go wont be the most successful (just compare taylor hicks to chris daughtry).

Jordin just plain has a "weird" aura about her! While I will give her the credit that she can sing and is a cute girl (and it doesn't hurt that daddy is famous), she is a little to cocky for me. The shocked "who me" looks are annoying and the attempts to be sultry and sexy just don't cut it for a 17 year old. She will do fine after idol, but I don't predict she will win the big prize. LaKisha is a good singer as well; however, she tends to sing in one voice tone - screaming! I also am tired of the lisp in her voice. She just plain needs to go. To answer Luke: Melinda was already on Broadway a lot of times. She has a backup singer and Broadway background, that's why she's SO GOOD. I think this is her grab at stardom. She knows her "looks" shortcomings. She's not light skinned, she doesn't have long flowing hair, she's not thin, but w/ AI she at the least gets her name out there and can possibly do private events. That's what Jennifer Hudson is doing - private events...that's where the MONEY is. It isn't in touring and putting out CDs? The reason? Corporations and associations pay some singers $100,000 just to "appear" and that's money in their pocket. They don't have to share it with anyone. Alicia Keys does/did private events. Jlo was just flown to Russia for $2Mil. That's money in her pocket, and the Record company didn't get a dime. Now interesting - the record comp's are NOW trying to cut into the touring that acts do. Think about it. Your artist is the Rolling Stones, they don't sell records anymore but they're on your label. By touring, they make a mint - millions of dollars. Wouldn't you want a piece of that action? That's the real threat now to artists, it's almost like a mafia grab. But getting back to Melinda, all she needs is a good solid solo single record - not a CD, and she can write her ticket. Do Vegas, Atlantic City, Branson, and PRIVATE EVENTS.

I think the decision would be between Jordin and Blake. Jordin, despite her age, has the composure of more seasoned talent and is able to step up to the plate. She did struggle with the Bon Jovi song, but I think that would have been hard for all the contestants because that is not an easy song. Blake, on the other hand, lends to the competition the temerity and innovative thinking that the American Idol contest should require of everyone. I think the 4 that are left make it a real competition. Sure, Blake does not have the best voice - but it is HIS perfrormances I rewind to watch again most weeks. His last performance was like a joke,a circus act... yet he received high praises. this seems to be turning into a beatboxing competion. his beatboxing is ok, but i've heard much better in the subway stations, and on the streets of NY. since the competition is obviously fixed, and as a result he is still in, idol can be prepared for truckloads of beatboxers auditioning next year. Blake should win. I've watched AI from the beginning and I just purchased my first songs from that show! I burned them and put them on my ipod and my car cd. Those songs? Two from Blake--Bad Name and I Need to Know (which sound fantastic, btw)and Chris's Wanted Dead or Alive. And I'm a 50-year old black woman. Yes, Melinda, Lakisha have great voices but they aren't singing anything I haven't heard before. They suffer from not having a signature style. A great voice does not a career guarantee. If that were true, Ruben Studdard would be as big as Michael Jackson by now. I have a feeling that AI can tell by the purchases who among these people have captured the hearts of viewers. Individual sales carry more weight than clapping. That's what these people are after--profits. And they want singers who can generate sales. All four singers are terrific and talented, and fully deserve to be in the Top 4. No matter who wins, it's very likely that they will all be putting out albums and working in the music business. However if I were to make predictions, I would say that this week is Lakisha's last. Why does everyone love Melinda??? I have no clue. To me, she isn't as good as the other contestants and will be another Taylor Hicks (what I mean is how well she will do after the show) if she wins. Jordin annoys the heck out of me and I have only liked one or two of her albums. Lakisha has a powerhouse voice and I would love to see her win (though I don't think she will) and see how happy her daughter would be. Personally, Blake has "it". Not only does he have the most appealing, contemporary, and best sounding voice of this season's contestants, but he has the looks (definetly!), the moves, the style, and the creativity and originality that makes everyone want to watch the show. If it wasn't for Blake, I wouldn't turn my t.v. on to watch AI.

Count me as one who misses Sanjaya. He is a great entertainer. Our family will be going to the American Idol Tour just to see Sanjaya. After Sanjaya, Blake and Jordin are my favorites. Blake is fresh and courageous. Jordin is just a good all around package and will do well with the tweens and teens. Melinda is a fantastic singer but I don't think I will be buying her album. Lakisha is good too but I don't see me buying her album either. I think all of them we do just fine without the show.

i too am somewhat tired of melindas 'i can sing' you mean i can sing'? shes very talented, no doubt and will make/sell albums.i really enjoyed blakes' performance last week, he is very original. i would love to see jordin win, lakisha will go home next, she just hasnt let any personality shine.. actually i felt like phil had the 'best' voice but showed his personality a little too late.. i think they will all do well in the end..

While Melinda is pegged as "the one to beat," I have to disagree that she is the best singer. Jordin has a much more pleasing tone to her voice, and a wider range. With the exception of last week, she grabs my attention more than Melinda. Melinda and Lakisha are good vocalists, but would not be as successful post-idol as Jordin or Blake. Blake and Jordin have a more youthful appeal that will sell records. Melinda and Lakisha are talented, but not what I would consider an "idol."

My opinion is: Melinda is great, has the ability, has the consistency, but does not move me. Based on these things alone, I would say she deserves to win AI. However, I wouldn't buy her album. Lakisha is great once in a while, good pretty much the rest of the time, can't stand looking at her and her voice is not my type. It's old and washed up. Jordin may be faulty and not make the best choices, but when she soars, she is amazing. Her voice has brought me to tears. She is the only female vocalist in the competition who has made me feel something when listening to her. This is a true gift, to touch someone's soul. She is pretty, and with the right producers she can be a superstar. I might buy her album, it depends in which direction she heads. Blake IS already a superstar. He brings what no other person has successfully brought to this competition: ORIGINALITY. He brings something new, which is desperately needed in this time. Yes, I agree this is a singing competition, and if it was that alone I would say that Blake should not be anywhere near the top 12 let alone top 4. But it's not just a singing competition, it's a talent, popularity, originality, singing competition. If Blake wins, it will breathe a strong wind of change through the idea of American Idol, and will raise the bar on future Idol hopefuls, making the statement that not just a good voice will win you a contract, but originality and courage to be true to what you love will as well. Blake is the only male in this competition who left me in awe. When he beatboxed in the song, I stood up and cheered from my living room. I have never been as moved watching this show as I was when they voted Sanjaya off the show. (I jumped up and down and cheered!!!) This guy has the ability to get the crowd energized and moving. That is awesome talent. Even if Blake doesn't win, my husband and I will be buying his album for sure. Good luck to him and the rest of the contestants.

Simple - Melinda & Lakisha don't fit the "mold" for an american idol. Jordin has the "pop" appeal, & Blake has the amazing talent. The best thing that could happen for Blake's career is to NOT win. Man was I happy when Sanjaya got voted off. I was never more excited to see someone get booted. now for the final four. My choice for the 2 in the finale? Blake and Melinda.. I agree with those that said them two in the finale, i like melinda, but to me shes doing the same thing every week and its geting old and will appeal to the older age group. Blake has been my favorite since day 1, and feel he should win. GO BLAKE!!!!! Jordin is a pretty girl, but come on looks only get you so far and shes 17! i mean she can sing but she really dont need american idol. Im sure where she lives they have a recording studio. Melinda should not be on the show, period. She is a professional back up singer and needs an agent not American Idol. She's fake and can't get out of the "wonder what I'm hearing look" which she thinks sells, besides her singing. She knows her abilities and really is a good singer as well. She doesn't need the show to succeed. This show originated for talent (other than professional) to have a chance at success. Blake has to quit the beat box, he cannot succeed on it alone and it will be his demise if he continues. It gets old, somewhat like watching everyone break dancing. Jordan on the other hand is what American Idol was created for. She has talent. She has good looks and is marketable. Her singing abilities need a little improvement however they can be honed with a vocal teacher. In the end, I hope that she succeeds as the next A.I.

Here's the thing--Melinda is fantastic, but not one who will sell records. Blake is cute and talented, but it is Jordin who should win. NOT because I think she is the best (her twitchy movements and constant smiling and flapping around drive me nuts!), but she is the youngest, and most 'appealing' to the people who will buy records from AI viewers. Also, I dont' think that Melinda and Blake would really WANT to be bound to the AI contract deal. From what I hear, it can be pretty strict and does not allow for much creativity on your own record. Jordin is able to be molded into what the AI producers would want, but I think that both Melinda and Blake would want to hold the reins on their own creativity more so than Jordin.

I endorse BLAKE! This is why: Ok, first of all I should start by saying that I really liked Doolittle in the beginning. She was so humble and down to earth and let's face it she can sing her butt off. However, as the season has gone on I have become less and less of a fan. The humble "oh my gosh, you mean I'm good, really?" act has my patience wearing thin, and I don't see her as versitile or contemporary. She may be the best technician but she makes me want to go to sleep. I can't see myself purchasing her album. Jordan would come in second place for me. I have been a fan of Jordin since the beginning, and her fantastic voice and bubbly attitude are sure to sell pop albums. However, she is just shy of the charisma and fresh spin that Blake manages to put on every song. Yeah, he tries to beatbox during pretty much every song but.... it worked for Justin Timberlake right? In all seriousness, Blake takes risks, he is original, he's true to himself. If Melinda is the "technician" of the competition then Blake is the artist. What's more, I would be willing to bet that he would sell more albums than Melinda or Jordin. Sure we all loved Taylor Hicks.... but wasn't last year's TRUE idol Chris Daughtry?

This is going to come down to the wire. Most agree that Jordin is too inexperienced, and that Melinda is the best singer of anyone left, but Jordin has the voters on her side. According to dialidol.com, Jordin's had the most amount of votes every single week (save for last week, where Blake had her beat by 1%). Jorin's too young, she's a little green, but the voters love her. Melinda, though definitely the most talented, simply doesn't have the same marketability as Jordin and Blake. She simply wouldn't sell records. Ask any of the previous dud idols...Melinda's style won't sell. Jordin however, though almost a shoe-in to win, will need to change her song choice. Singing old songs isn't going to cut it. She needs to be new and fresh to bring the same thing to the table as Blake. Blake, though not a powerful singer, has major potential for selling records. No, he's definitely not better than Jordin and Melinda (Blaker girls, stay back) singing wise, but he has the originality that both Melinda and Jordin lack. I think Jordin would do the best winning Idol, because Blake shouldn't be held down by the great iron fist that is the Idol contract, and Melinda, though I reiterate she is the best singer, will simply not sell. I am a 57-year old grandmother, so I'm not one of those screaming 11-year old girls. Blake is my choice. I would buy only buy his CDs from all this year's contestants. Jordin is really getting boring and doesn't take risks and plays it safe. If I hear "I Who Have Nothing" from her in the finale I'll scream. She's 17 and instead of singing her favorite and may I add a "current" song, she sang that song from the British Invasion week. She should go on tour with Tom Jones after AI6. She plays it safe. Simon was right when he said he wished she hadn't picked such an old song. She has a great voice but week after week it's all sounding the same to me. Jordan is pretty, she sings well (for her age); however she needs to mature a little and frankly, she needs to lose weight to compete out there if she wants to be a "pop" star. I don't mean to be cruel but it is what it is. Blake really entertains me week after week. I can't say I liked all his song choices, some of which I never heard before, but he sure knows how to entertain and he is young, has looks, looks like a rock star, puts his own slant to songs and modernizes songs so that you think they are new. I've even grown to like some of his beat boxing as long as he doesn't overdo. Frankly, many of his songs were better than the orginals. Win or lose, Blake is a winner.
