I hated the five year jump. Maybe I was in the minority but I despised it enough that I finally quit watching. I just didn't care after a while. (I happened to LIKE Lynette's little kids. They added some much needed comic relief.)

If the producers wanted the show to go in this direction, they had seasons by which to take it. If I wanted "time jumps", I'd watch science fiction. For me, this ruined a good show and lost one household of viewers.

I agree that this is one of DH's best seasons, and the time jump helped that. Loving Gaby and Bree's storylines, and Creepy Dave is great to watch. I really hope Lynnette's cancer doesn't come back though. That made the show way too depressing for me. We can get our fill of illnesses on the medical dramas, we don't want it on DH!

I watched two episodes this season. The first episode turned me off so much I stopped watching. When I heard that Edie was killed off, I watched the next episode out of curiosity. It wasn't bad, but not good enough to make me want to start watching again. It is too bad - up to this season I enjoyed the show so much I never missed an episode.

I thought this season was a vast improvement over last year's. Creepy Dave is really creepy and I'll be glad if he doesn't return next season. Susan's new romance with a much younger man seeking a green card is typical of Susan's character...not thinking it would mean an end to her alimony. Mike should really be with Susan....he was a good influence on her and I think that would prompt all sorts of new scenes for future episodes. I miss Edie, but maybe someone new will replace her in the neighborhood.

I did like the jump! I, too, will miss Edie. I thought she added comic relief, but also able to protray her true feelings through her comedy. I really liked her interaction with Mrs. McCluskey (she's one of my favorites)! I think it's been an interesting season!

I did not like the 5 yr jump at all, but in the end it all worked out and this season has me hooked again. I can always relate to Lynette and her kids, when she left them on the street corner I could definately relate to that urge. I once threated my 3 sons with the same exact thing.

Creepy Dave has been a wonderful addition to the cast and I will hate to see him go.

I had stopped watching until they did the "time-jump". I think it brought the show back to life and I wish a few other ABC shows would consider doing something as dramatic. This has been my favorite season of DH, and moved the show to the top of my "must-see" list.

This has been an up and down season for me. I can't stand Jackson, thank you Creepy Dave for turning him in to the INS. But episodes without him weren't bad. It was easy to ignore the time jump after a few eps and MJ not being a baby is actually a good thing. What I just can't understand is how Gaby's daughter is older than MJ (I really hate continuity issues). I admit, I have watched faithfully despite not loving the show. I guess since there's nothing on on Sunday's at 9:00 it's better than nothing but I haven't loved all the changes.

I like when DH is more serious. When the show falls into slapstick, I sit there watching and thinking "why am I watching this crap".

Of the time-line, I really liked what the writers did with Gaby. I enjoyed seeing her look more down-to-earth; I guess I could relate to that. I did not like that they had Carlos blind. He really is my favorite character and I'm glad the writers gave him his sight back.

I'm really sorry that the writers have made Katherine not interesting. I liked it better when she had "secrets".

Lynette and Tom could drop off the face of t.v. earth and I wouldn't miss them a bit. And, they could take their boys with them. I get tired of Lynette's screeching and Tom's helplessness. I just get tired of the boys.

Susan is annoying. She can go with Lynette and Tom! I do like her attorney ex-husband, though.

I like Bree and Orson and their storylines. I think the writers show, very well, Bree's struggles to be perfect. I like that Orson has thrown a wrench into her life.

I'm completely w/Gael. I love Gaby and Bree and I hated seeing Edie killed off, and yes, her friendship with Karen was very sweet. I can't really watch Susan for too long she drives me nuts and Lynnette, well, I'm just not a fan. I'm really liking Karl's character and Carlos, I've always been a fan of his.

I agree that the "time jump" was a very creative, successful move to redirect the show. However Susan is becoming tiresome with her unrealistically stupid behavior and killing off Edie was not a good move; she added an important element to the mix.

I hated the time jump- I felt like I was completly lost and the show I knew was gone. I think killing Edie of was a mistake- she had a light, funny element to her that carried the heavy load. I think the show just got stupid with the leap and I quit watching it and when I catch it here and there I turn it off- it has not improved with age. Just watch people- they will pull a Dallas on us and it will all be a dream next season to bring Edie back to life and to undo the stupidity of this season!!

At first, I didn't agree with the time jump. Last May when I watched the season 4 finale, I was tempted to throw objects at the tv when I discovered Susan with Jackson. I personally have never liked Gale Harold to begin with. So seeing him with Susan really irritated me. Why ruin a marriage that so many people waited so long for, and so many people loved? Ever here of "ain't broke, don't fix?"

I liked the idea of aging the Scavo kids, giving their family some drama. Except Porter still dosen't know that Anne Schilling was lying to him about the baby.

To my way of thinking, Edie's death was inevitable. She wasn't involved in the season 2 finale, season 3 she falsely attempted suicide, season 4 she was exiled from "the lane"---the writing was on the wall so to speak. It's unfortunate only because Nicollette did such a great job with Edie, especially with no real story to work with. Edie was never given a fair shot at being a "houswife" until her last season. Then Marc Cherry kills her. Way to go.

I would love to see more story involving Bob and Lee's characters. It was so controversial bringing them on last season, yet they recieve virtually no screen time!! I know they're not really housewives, but they could use some drama. I personally would love to see a Bob/Tom/Lee triagle!!! OOH LA LA!! Break up the perfect Tom/Lynette duo, partner Bob with Tom. Let's face it, some men are closeted their whole married lives, and then have to face the truth about themselves. I think this would be a great avenue to explore. And a guy like Tom would be perfect. He's very straight-acting so it wouldn't be an obvious plot device. Unlike if Orson were to come out.

I think Gabby's story is in dange of becoming repetative. She went from being a bored, lonely, wealthy houswife who needed a young stud to make her life meaningful to a mother of two who struggled. Guess what. She's back to being wealthy, Carlos' is working again, and Gabby's getting lonely again. If I were Lynette, I would keep Porter FAR, FAR away from the Solis household!!! History could end up repeating itself.

On a semi-unrelated note, it would have been interesting if John Roland was Carlos' son. Over the year's, Carlos has been said to have wanted a son. John's mother Helen worked for an adoption agency. I would lay odds that John is an adopted child. They could go back in time to when Carlos was younger (probably 17 or 18) he knocked up a young teenage girl, she maybe died during child birth. Carlos never knew he had sired a child. Meanwhile we have the Roland's who are desperate for a child... Fast forward you now have a story where Carlos is the father of the man who once slept with his wife!!!! That's good drama!!

Personally, I'm disappointed with this season. The mystery that used to keep us hanging every season was put out there before half the season was over.

The episode of Edie's death finally brought back some of the suspense and the Desperate Housewives I loved in the beginning.

This season feels like it is tying up loose ends with no thought. If this season finale doesn't catch me, I may no longer be a fan.... :(

Just started watching DH this season and I love it. It has taken a while to figure out all the plots and I'm still not sure I understand everything. I agree, the one mistake they made was killing off the slut of Wisteria Lane, Edie. I loved her honesty and down right trampiness! The show lost an important dimension in killing her. I'll be watching next season to see if Bree really does kill off Orsen, whether Susan and Mike get back together and whether Lynette actually has cancer - I hope not - what a drag. Her character is so much more interesting when they play her as the powerful, business woman.

I have been a fan of DH since it started. I have hated this season. I do not like Dana Daleny with Susan's ex. I thought Susan and he were a better match. I also like the Lynette's "brat" boys. Thy reminded me of the mischief my brother did growing up. Can't the next season by like Dallas was (just a dream?) I really don't know if I can stand another season of DH if it is like this season.

Are you serious? No, no, no. The fifth season has to be the weakest season by far. Dave Williams has to be one of the worst villains yet. His mystery isn't even a mystery and it has dragged from the season opener. Katherine is practically wallpaper and the storylines are stale, repetitive and downright bland. Quite frankly, I believe "Desperate Housewives" is beginning to lose its appeal and that is sad. I have been a devoted fan since its debut in 2004. I think the writers should go back to to the drawing board for season 6, because this show is no longer juicy.

I loved the 5-year jump. Expected great things. Then they under-used Edie; and then killed her off. They presented us with uninteresting plots that left Gaby as the only character entertaining enough to watch. Stories are getting resolved and started in ridiculous ways. Seriously, when I saw the first few moments of Bree sitting down with Karl to plan out her divorce, I turned off the show a soon as Bree agreed to rob her own house. The suspension of disbeleif is totally gone for me with this show. I'm done.

I couldn't watch DH anymore and though I really like all of the actresses--it got boring. It was at first, quirky and fun but then in the long run it is really just a soap opera and was tiresome.

Sometimes it's just not possible for the writers to keep up the sizzle of the lst or 2nd seasons because it's hard to top the uniqueness over and over again.

I too love the jump and hate that they offed Edie...she was my favorite. I don't like creepy Dave and have seldom liked Susan's stories. Lynette is the most real except that we seldom see her brood. I only have 2 kids and they are ALWAYs around! Gaby is forgivable as a climbing witch...but Carlo's miracle was ubelievable.

I love DH and it took a couple of shows to get into the 5 year leap. I loved the little kids and the chaos they caused, it kept the show real and reminded us why it was called DH. I'd like to see Susan grow up and be not so whinny. I wish it would "back flash" 5 years every so often to better explain some of the confusing story lines.

After the bomb that was Season 2, this show's been steadily building itself up. I didn't think the time jump was really necessary, but I didn't mind it. To everyone complaining above, outside of Lynette's annoying young children, what did it actually change? We had some people in different relationships, but it honestly didn't change much else at all. This was a great season either way, so count me a huge fan again.

The finale was phenomenal!! I loved it! I hope it was Susan that Mike married--I hated that they ever divorced. Besides, it's a recession so who can afford to pay a boring actress that adds nothing to the show (Katherine)? She needs to move on and be with her fake daughter--wherever that is.
