Jericho was one of the best shows on TV and the only one I watched every week. It was science fiction, mystery, action, and family drama all mixed together. I thought it had a great premise and inspired writing. Unfortunately, after pushing viewers to invest their time and interest in a program, CBS cancelled it because it wasn't getting quite the numbers they wanted. Soon all we'll have are crime dramas and reality TV. Why can't networks give the rest of us something to watch? I will miss Jericho a lot. Now I have no reason to turn the TV on at all.

I just "found" Gilmore Girls" this season by accident and fell in love. I was watching season 6 on FAM and season 7 on CW simultaneously. Then I got seasons 1 & 2 from the library and fell in love. The relationship with Lorelei and Rory was wonderful, and I watch mother & daughter grow up and in love together. But even better was the Emily-Lorelei one. The banter was brilliant and the acting top rate. Every character on that show was beautifully constructed (except Kirk who drove me nuts!) & the episodes made me laugh and cry. I wish it never had ended, but then I still miss "Judging Amy" and "NYPD." May their reruns continue forever!

Jericho ended with 8 million viewers. I'm willing to bet a million bucks that the new show averages less than 4 million and is cancelled after 3 episodes. Then CBS will be kicking themselves because TNT, FX or Sci-Fi picked Jericho up and are very happy with 8 million views.

I loved Gilmore Girls and I'm really going to miss it. Yes, the show went down hill in the last two seasons and had a few "jump the shark" moments (Luke has a daughter? Lorelie eloped in Paris?), but the show was almost like family. Despite the fact that the last two seasons didn't live up to its early glory, I stayed devoted. And the last few episodes were really great. Yes, I wanted a wedding (dang it, it was fated from the first scene of the first episode!), but the ending was still great. I'm going to miss this show. RIP Gilmore Girls.

They truly loved each other, complemented each other... and why would Luke take the chance of losing someone he loved so much by ignoring her feelings? The last two years have been totally out of whack! In my opinion - The Class was the best new comedy to come out in years. It was the one out of the Monday lineup we watched first off the DVR... I will truly miss it. I was very disappointed with Gilmore Girls cancellation. It was one of the best series I have ever tried to keep up with. Maybe not perfect, but to me Jericho was the best show on TV this year. It was at its best when it got away from some of its serialized-mystery elements (It didn't really matter that much who dropped the bombs outside of providing interesting backstories for some of the characters) and speculated about how civilized people would behave when many of the trappings of civilization suddenly disappeared.

"The Class" was something of a guilty pleasure for me. I am still bitter at CBS for canceling "Joan of Arcadia" and normally the only show I'll watch on that network is "How I Met Your Mother" (Neil Patrick Harris is le-gen-dary). But I would find myself sucked in to "The Class" despite my best intentions. It wasn't the smartest or funniest of comedies, but it had something that made it worth watching--despite my grudge against the network.

I completely agree with your opinions about Gilmore Girls, Close to Home, and Jericho. The networks screwed up the shows themselves, almost like they wanted to sabotage these shows. The long hiatus for Jericho did that show in. Getting rid of the husband on CLose to Home took away the entire 'Home' concept and lost me as a viewer. And what can I say about Gilmore Girls. They are guilty of messing too much with the plot line this last year, and then just to end the series leaving so many threads hanging is just unforgivable. At least they could have given us a 2 hour final that would give the loyal fans a sense of closure. Gilmore Girls was one of the best family dramas on television and desired a more fitting ending. Let us hope Veronica Mars can make it to the Fall schedule, but I don't give it much hope. This show is thoughtful and goes outside the box, so of course it won't be allowed to last. Too bad. The networks always sell the fans short for "ratings". I guess a show based on the Geico COmmercial cavemen is more in line with what the networks think we are worth.

For a show I once loved the 2nd to last episode left me upset with Loreli. Her hypacritical remarks to Rory while she was contemplating her proposal left me thinking What? UH? How can Loreli who had trouble seeing the love of her life right in front of her face and did went through how many relationships, tell Rory you just know (love) when its right. The show failed for me when Loreli married Christopher. Nevertheless just like with most familiy members you get made and get over it you dont want them banished from your life. I will miss GG and wish they would rethink then rewrite and have it return.

You're right about the show not being the same after the creator left. The witty banter all but disapeared. The pop culture references were gone. I no longer had to google phrases to find out what random classic book they were speaking of. But still, although the creator herself had always planned for Rory to graduate in the last episode, and she did graduate in the second to last, the Lorelai/Luke storyline is still too unresolved for most fans. The show had gone a bit downhill, it was time, but we'll miss it if only because we'll still wish we could have seen them really get it together this time, rather than the lame "oh look what a nice necklace Luke gave you" ending. That's not enough to REALLY please the fans.

I can't feel too sad about the GG not coming back. I LOVED the show, one of the few I watched every week, but the last episode had a good feeling of being where it should be at the ending. You felt like the characters were going to be continuing on, even though you wouldn't see them. It's hard for me to feel sad about a show with that many years under it's belt leaving, and being able to leave wrapping things up instead of mid-season where you're just left to wonder. There are too many good shows out there that had potential that barely made it out of the starting gate (Firefly, Cupid, Wonderfalls, Birds of Prey) But hey, we got 8 seasons of Full House and 9 of Family Matters ---- The universe is a cruel, cruel place!!!

Gael, I agree with you about Gilmore Girls. I've watched the show since the very beginning, and always loved it. However, since Amy & Dan left, the show began to go downhill. The writing just wasn't the same, and the characters began to act differently than I believed Amy had envisioned them to act. Regardless, I still tuned in every week because I was so invested in the show. I absolutely loved the finale - it seemed to bring everyone full circle, and ended the way I had hoped. It was heartbreaking and I cried a lot, but I can't complain because it was almost perfect. I am going to miss GG, but thank god for reruns and the DVD's!

Sometimes I think the networks just don't get it. If one has a hit it's copied ad nauseum until the public becomes sick of them (CBS's CSI series are the rare exception). When they do have a promising show they bounce it around or preempt it for some lame special or put in repeats from only a few weeks into the schedule thinking the viewers won't mind (we do!). The networks are killing these shows themselves. Lost Heroes and Scrubs all lost viewers for just those rea- sons this year. Not to be outdone, SciFi is holding off until 2008 for the new season of Battlestar Galac- tica, one of their few hits. Wake up guys. As rare as a good show is anymore, we don't need the networks screwing things up as readily as they do now.

I watched it from the beginning. They finnally come up with one creative but possible scenario of something that everyone agrees will happen some day (Nuke Bomb in the USA). Hopefully the first bomb goes off at the desk of the person who cancelled the show. I wouldn't want them around "shaking their head---if we only kept the show on to show how to handle the potential upcoming disaster." If you think you saw chaos during Katrina. People are going to flip after a 9/11 nuke! At least give the writers a couple more episodes or a movie to wrap up the show. Maybe they can change the name to CSI/Jericho? It seems if it isn't CSI it doesn't count on CBS. I can only hope the Scifi channel will pick it up.

I am a huge GG fan, and have watched the show as loyally as I could with two kids under 2. I will miss the show, but am not totally surprised it was cancelled. First off, I really didn't know where the show would go after Rory graduated. And secondly, and more important, I feel the show lost some of its momentum in season 6, when Rory and Lorelai stopped speaking. I think even after they reconciled, the show couldn't get fully back to its roots (of course with Amy being gone, how could it?). I will mourn the Gilmore Girls, but that is what they made the DVDs for - to revisit greatness.

One should have seen the impending demise of all/most WB programming when the so-called merger with UPN took place. Let's face it. This was a hostile UPN takeover apparently. The classy WB line-up has now been decimated into a lackluster UPN yawner. It IS such a shame that the Gilmore Girls had to end, but who can blame them for bowing out from this network? Anymore, when I'm watching TV, half the time I'll be watching reruns of old shows - Cheers, Raymond, Friends, becuase even though I've seen those a hundred times, they're still better than 90% of the garbage that's on the tube now. "Studio 60" was a brilliant show - just like West Wing it had great writing, was well acted, and beautifly shot with great production values. But the network just let it fade into oblivian, I never even heard about it being cancelled, it just died a quiet death. So sad, I really looked forward to seeing that every week. "Jericho" was another show that had a very interesting premise, it could have been explored much deeper and been a great show, but what turned me off was all the little 'soap' style romantic sidestories going on every week - it was like "Dawson's Creek" with nukes - it never knew what it wanted to be. Now they're coming out with Bingo? They expect me to sit at home and watch BINGO??? No, we can't have intelligent TV, let's put on Bingo! What's next, 'The Thrilling Adventures of CandyLand'? Maybe next year we can look forward to, "Are You Smart Enough to Dance with a Millionaire Batchelor Model?"

NBC is running the rest of the Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip episodes, saw it listed on my TiVo for the last week of May, not sure of the date, check your local listings. I wanted to like this show but ultimately was bored with then spending too much time of the Matt / Harriet romance, which had no on screem chemistry, at least not in my mind. I wanted more of Bradley Whitford, Steven Weber and more Matthew Perry, sans Harriet. The show should have been 30 minutes, not an hour. I was surprised at how much I fell in love with 30 Rock instead and am glad NBC renewed it and renewed (though banished to the USA nework) Law and Order Criminal Intent. I used to love Boston Legal and My Name is Earl, but for some reason lost interest in both shows.

When Jerrico was first promoted, I said "Finally, a program about what might 'really' happen if we nuked ourselved." What would happen to the world we take for granted everyday? How would people survive without cable TV, cell phones and the internet? Having personally experienced hurricane Katrina, I saw first hand how thin the veneer of civilization is and how quicly it can break down. Within hours of the hurricane's passing, the city of New Orleans literally sank into chaos before my very eyes. Even with all the resources of the wealthiest nation on the planet, it took 3 days for even the most rudimentary support to reach the city. Yet after going weeks without fresh food, clean water and any similance of a real goverment, the people of Jerrico seem to go about their day-to-day lives without missing a beat. Everyone's clothes are clean and everyone's hair is perfectly cut. Come on, did anyone believe this? This show was supposed to be about the dangers of nucelear war and what we got was a bunch of hokie soap opera love stories and easily resolved conflicts with small town bullies. Its really a shame that the networks have to cowtow to the simple desires of their audiences and the ratings monster that they themselves created. I'm not surprised it was cancelled. I really tried to follow along with the show but after a while I stopped wasting my time waiting for anything that was close to what the reality of nuclear holicaust might hold.

The problem with Jericho was that CBS stopped running it in November and waited until February to pick it back up. It lost momentum and viewers. I really wish everything wasn't based on the almighty dollar and maybe, just maybe, the public at large could have a real say in the programming the networks seem to think we like. In the age of DVR and TIVO, many shows are not being watched when they are actually on, so all these new fangled gadgets could be the cause of some show cancelations. Sorry to see Crossing Jordan go and I hope the network ("NBC") does a two hour movie to bring closure to this diverse group of characters.

Hate to see Crossing Jordan leave.....unique characters, involved story lines with characters, brought in the 'family connection' many times. Much better than some of the mindless drivel on television. The Geico commercials with the cavemen at first had some draw appeal but some of them now are just plain simple and insulting. We must have been the only souls watching "Wedding Bells" because it ended before anyone realized it was on! But, as another David Kelley show, it was funny, quirky, and totally entertaining. (How does he come up with these things? They are great!) And speaking of quirky, there was "Raines" - Jeff Goldblum was so right for that role. But TV will keep on shows like a gazillion CSIs and Law & Orders and lose great shows in the meantime. Realty TV? Not really for me, tho I do like "Dancing with the Stars." The rest are boring to me. "Cavemen"? - I can't stand the commercial and always turn it off. So I won't watch the show. Now, make something with the Aflack duck and you have something promising! (not really!) I am so irritated with newtork TV. I still can't get over the West Wing being cancelled last year! Gilmore Girls was my favorite show. I was so dissapointed this morning when I read a quote from the CW president, Dawn Ostroff; when she said that Beauty and the Geek had higher ratings than Gilmore Girls. Thank goodness our Girls will live on on ABC Family and DVD's. The show wasn't the same this year without Amy and Dan;(especially wasting half the season with the whole Chris/Lorelai debacle); but it was still heartwarming. I looked forward to it on Tuesday nights. I'm sad about Studio 60 as well. NBC is dumping the remaining episodes on Thursdays starting 5/24; so we'll at least get to see how things end up. It was a smartly written show; so that's probably why it didn't catch on. There is nothing but crap on now. I guess it's the Travel Channel, TLC and Food Network for me now!

If the networks had been as quick to pull the plug on low-rated shows in the 70s, 80s, and 90s as they are now, we would have had only one season of All in the Family, only one season of Married with Children, only one season of Seinfeld. Back before cable offered major competition, the networks didn't live or die on their advertising dollars and were willing to let promising new shows "find their voice" in their second seasons. Now anything that is creative or offbeat--in short, anything that deviates from the same tired old formulaic garbage that the networks throw at us night after night--gets canceled, sometimes with no fanfare or explanation. It's damn depressing.

I loved Gilmore Girls once, but it just was too crazy this last season. It was time. But the cancellation of Jericho and Studio 60, like the cancellation of Arrested Development last year, is absolutely tragic! None of these shows were doing so bad that they should be cancelled. CBS saying that Jericho is losing steam while continuing to run endless CSI-Wherevers and Numbers (really, who is watching that?) is ridiculous. I feel like I got too attached to these shows. I have to admit I don't watch some of the shows being cancelled except Crossing Jordan and The Class. I happened to watch The Class out of curiosity and usually laughed out loud. It did have its slower moments though. I am sad to see quality shows go. I wonder when the networks are going to get a clue and program year-round instead of September to May. 9 or 10pm would be reasonable for first run shows in the spring/summer months. This way they could let audiences build. The executives keep forgetting that it took Seinfeld 4 years to be wildly successful, 2 years to be noticed. I'll bet the networks would maintain viewers if they kept quality on and let it take time to develop.

Well, I am not surprised that Jericho was canned. There were mistakes so large in the science that it hurt the show for those of who know something of science; it was so distracting that it hurt the show. The idea that these people didn't start gathering food fuel and other supplies from the area nearby is laughable. To have a store still "doing business" when a situation like that is going on is just as silly; there was no real pulling together. I have to say it is better than some reality shows. Given a choice between a reality show, Jericho and a book, I won't be picky as to what book it is. Nothing was resolved clear enough when it was revealed. My wife will be glad because it will mean that I won't be yelling at the tv any more when there are clearly stupid things done. I do have to say that it is not a surprise that Gilmore Girls is going. I didn't watch it myself, but my wife loved the show. I have to admit that the dialog was great! I heard that the original writers left the show and thought that might be problem. I just wish it did end the show so soon.

I too am very disappointed with NBC over the mid-season removal and now cancellation (?) of Stuido 60. As all above say - it was "smart". As far as The Class goes and Jerhico - eh, it's just TV. If they touch How I Met you Mother I might just turn the darned thing off. I think all three networks went a little too haywire with all of the mid-season premiers and schedules changes this year, but, happily, it gave me the chance to channel surf and find Notes from the Underbelly. Tried Jericho, too boring. Wanted to like Studio 60, but it was too pretentious and not at all subtle. I will miss Veronica Mars, though. The first season of that show was about as perfect as a show could be. This season, however, was not so good. Mostly due to the neutering of Logan. Shouldn't have killed Aaron Echolls off in S2 (though it was done well), and Logan could have played against his evil dad. that would have been great TV.

CBS is cancelling Close To Home? NBC is cancelling Crossing Jordan? What are they thinking? I was floored last Friday when Kimberly Elise's character Maureen Scofield was murdered. I thought maybe the actress had decided not to come back to the show, and the writers were opening up the possibility of Annabeth getting more involved with the detective introduced several episodes back during one of the other murder cases. (They make a great couple!). As to Crossing Jordan's cancellation, why? Last night's "season finale" with the coroner and staff's plane crashing, and not knowing if they'd survive (but they did, of course) was pretty suspenseful. The writers are missing out on a wonderful subplot with Bug and Lily and her baby daughter forming a family. Maybe they should build a series-ending episode around that-Bug and Lily getting married, and all the complications of the wedding, preparing for marriage and the coroner's office, etc. (Crossing Jordan seems to be the only detective-type show not created/produced by either Dick Wolf or Jerry Bruckheimer. Let's hear it for those independent types who, like Tim Kring, create well-written shows that last several seasons. My only beef with Crossing Jordan was that, after the second season, its theme music changed from an Irish jig-in keeping with Jordan Kavanaugh's Irish heritage-to a more techno-sound, perhaps in keeping with the overall storyline of daily life in a coroner's office.) Next season, I hope NBC's next lead-in show to Medium is good, but I'm not holding my breath.

Jerico was one of those tv shows that promotes thinking about the old "what if". That's probably why it was cancelled. I grew up during the cold war and experienced the drills and speculation that we could be "nuked" at any time. This show hit home and sparked frank conversations at our house about what could still happen. Apparently the tv execs think we are all a bunch of mindless idiots that don't want tv to entertain. We are suppose to be satisfied with non-realty "reality" shows, competition/game shows, and investigative reports. Not so. If, for an extended period of time a reality show rates higher than "Close to Home", for example, the reality show stays on the air and CTH is cancelled. BTW, cancelled means just that, the show is history. The network is not going to "bring it back" unless enough episodes exist to make syndication work. Some of my favorite shows have been cancelled, too, but somehow I found other shows I liked just as well.

What a HUGE mistake to cancel Jericho - I love the cast and character interaction - and don't care if the science isn't perfect. Does anyone know if there is a way to protest directly to CBS and perhaps get those knotheads to change their minds? Whatever takes its place, you can bet I will NOT watch it. Close to Home was another of my favorites - especially since David Elliot joined the cast. Canceling Crossing Jordan is another huge mistake. Guess I won't be back to NBC - that was its best drama.

Am I the only person on earth who thinks that the only thing wrong with Studio 60 was Sarah Paulson playing Harriet Hayes? She has no TV appeal, is not attractive, devalued her character every time the show needed her to be strong and was frankly the only weak link in an otherwise rock solid cast. Here is the list of stars, tell me what's wrong with this list...Matthew Perry, Amanda Peet, Bradley Whitford, DL Hughley, Sarah Paulson. Now you should know why the show is being canceled. I liked the show but hated her and could never get past it. She is not believable and I could never believe that Matt Albie was in love with anyone like her.

Another disappointed Studio 60 fan (my husband too). It was the only network show that we made sure we taped if we were not home. It could have been another West Wing for NBC if they would have given it a chance. I heard that NBC doesn't want to spend the money on writers anymore, that is why they are increasing the reality shows. I can't stand reality TV and thought it would be dead a long time ago. I don't like some of the things that I see NBC doing lately. Commercials all the time, and has anyone noticed that all of the NBC stations go to commercial at the same time so we can't channel surf? Reality is just people acting badly, where is the talent? Shows with talented actors get cancelled.

Once upon a time, my family read, played board games, and interacted more together. We went out to movies. We missed the new t.v. shows, but we didn't know the disappointment and disgust when something quality was cancelled for no good reason. Now, much of our entertainment comes from a small screen. We don't watch soaps, abhor reality t.v., find talk shows boring, and don't waste time on game shows. Isn't the idea of a GOOD t.v. show to whisk us away from our often mundane, hectic lives? Isn't that why we used to go to the movies? Aren't we entitled to some QUALITY entertainment? Diversity is a good thing. I don't expect everyone to watch what my family watches, but why aren't we at least offered closure? And why are there so many clones of successful t.v. shows? How can idiotic shows go on for 10+ years, when shows that cause one to really think don't even make it an entire season? This time it's Jericho. There have been many others in the past. I'm not sure there will be more in our future. We're just about ready to have cable pulled and go back to books, board games, hobbies, etc. It's disheartening to invest so much time in something and never have any idea how it was meant to end. Why bother?

It's a shame that networks don't give TV shows a chance anymore. I remember when no-one watched the first season of M*A*S*H but the network gave it a second season and it turned out to be one of the greatest shows of all time. CBS didn't give Jericho a chance. I was a Gilmore Girls fan for most of the seasons, but I agree it was getting old. They really lost momentum when they started pulling crazy storylines out of nowhere. I was still sad when it ended though. It was one of the few TV shows I actually watched. Does anyone remember the show on FOX called "Reunion"? I was obsessed with that show and they cancelled it without so much as a backward glance. :( Although I'm sure I won't watch any of the new shows the networks have come up with (especially the "reality" ones), I do want to say that I think a lot of you will be surprised by the Geico Caveman show. If you pay attention to the commercials you'll notice he really is rather sophisticated. I think the show will have some good dialogue. We'll see. :)

Trouble with Jericho is the theme has been done to death. (Mad Max comes to mind) But what Jericho most reminded me of was: "Survivors - Bleak 1970s BBC drama by Terry Nation kills off 98% of the world's population in the first episode with a virus. Those who are left must attempt to rebuild their society, and the show concentrates on the day-to-day tasks of survival." Copy cats alive and well in Hollywood. At least they could have done their viewing audience a justice and finished the out season with some closure vs. leaving everything up in the air with a fad-to-black gun battle. But maybe this is a test to see how much we’ll all screech to bring it back and continue on after yet another long hiatus. Jericho to me was a fresh approach to making great TV, with a premise on never knowing what was going to happen next, and ensemble of characters that drew us in to actually making us want to tune in every Wednesday and not miss a single show. I can’t say that about too many TV shows on the tube these days. Instead CBS will probably replace it with yet another lame sitcom as we are getting our overloaded fill of “reality” TV. I am sorry to learn there will be no more Jericho, but this clearly demonstrates that CBS’ programming executives should be “nuked” themselves for not a least finishing out the season and answering some of the questions we all wanted ultimately to know. Especially given that fact that as one of 8-million viewers, “we” all bothered to tune in week after week with our investment of time expecting some closure or a continuance into another season. 1st off - Cancelling Veronica Mars is almost a criminal act. It is one of the best shows on television. I was watching the ER season finale last night, and I saw commercials for Studio 60. Apparently they are giving it another chance. It will be on Thursday nights during the summer, in the usual ER time slot. One small gripe while I am thinking about it: How in the heck can NBC keep crap like Medium around and get rid of a great show like The Black Donnellys? I did find the rest of the episdoes of The Black Donnelys on NBC's website, but it just is not the same. My other gripe: All of the good shows are on Monday or Thursday. Spread the wealth,folks! Throw Tuesday or Wednesday a bone!

Why are you saying Gilmore Girls was cancelled? It wasn't cancelled - it was retired, ended, finished! It was probably the best show on TV during its run, but you can't follow characters forever. We can assume Luke and Lorilei got together, Rory went on to a successful career and life, and whatever else makes us happy. I'm very unhappy over the cancellation of Close To home which was another show I never missed.That one should be brought back.

I am very disappointed that Studio 60 and Jericho were canceled. Jericho especially makes me mad. The execs obviously knew they were considering canceling it, and they still left the season with a cliffhanger ending. That is absolutely uncalled for. I am an affluent consumer who should be an advertising target. I watch long form story arc shows like Lost, Heroes, Jericho, 24 etc. However these shows are constantly getting canceled before they can finish their stories (like Jericho and Invasion). I DO NOT watch CSI, Law & Order, or any other self contained episode kind of show. I didn't watch TV for years, and then there was an explosion of good long form drama. I am about to leave again.

The only reason that I can think of that the ratings have been dropping on Jericho and other shows is because the networks like to show too many re-runs during the season. It use to be that when a show started in September, it ran the entire 22 episodes then it went on summer hiatus. But not anymore, now they take breaks every 6 or 7 weeks or so. That's why I don't watch Smallville anymore, I lost track of what was going on with it because of the re-runs. And also they changed it from Wednesday to Thursday night. If the networks wants us to keep watching tv, then stop with the repeats and stop with changing the days it comes on. Otherwise I will just have to give up tv completely and start reading again.

TWo thoughts: Jason Ritter on "The Class" was so good and clever and funny that I hope someone grabs him up quickly. Our household would watch that show just because Jason was in it! Thank God that "House" is still on. (Is it?) Its cryptic humor and subtle thinking makes it more than entertainment. Our children and their friends get such a kick out of the way House thinks, and their thinking is becoming more insightful. They actually discuss the way that House comes to his conclusions and how he uses intuition to solve medical problems They love figuring it out. A couple have started talking about what a neat profession medicine would be for themselves. How's that for a beneficial TV show?

I had made a vow to the effect that if CBS cancelled "The Class" and "Jericho" that I would not watch or begin to watch any programs that they air ever again. I am sick to death of being offered trash like "Christine" and "Two and a Half Men" that went from mildly funny to pure raunch and became totally offensive. So now we get an irritating commercial to say the least made into a T.V. show, game shows up the ying-yang and tripe interspersed between what half-way decent shows are left on the networks. I think "The Class" could have been another "Friends" if given half the chance to succeed, but the network "brains" yank shows so fast if they aren't in the top ten right out of the gate and don't give them time to develop an audience. So my mindset from here on out is that I don't care what new shows they trot out, I am not going to even tune in to them, because if they happen to be entertaining, it will just let me down again when they drop them. Hopefully, the cable channels will see the opportunity to capture the shows the Networks throw away and give us more and more reason to tune in to them. That would be great.

I'm distraught over Veronica Mars being canceled!! I'm not surprised and I suppose I should have prepared myself but I just didn't think the CW would be so stupid. Veronica is a smart, sassy, independent girl and while she's made her share of mistakes she was a great role model for girls. Instead the CW will air barely clothed girls doing suggestive dances. I loved jericho and thought it was great. The reason many shows get cancelled now a days is that abc/cbs and nbc do not run shows like they used to. A season starts later and later now and then after 4 weeks we are forced to watch repeats for 8 weeks in a row then they expect the viewers to still be there. Use to start season then watch continuously till thanksgiving/christmas filled with holiday shows and repeats and then start running in jan. Not anymore. Back in the olden days of the 60's and 70's, the networks would start a show in September and it would go until May....no breaks and rarely any re-runs. In the summer, you could watch the shows on other stations that you didn't watch during fall and winter. Now, with the way the networks do things....it's no wonder great shows like Jericho and What About Brian (which were both my favorites and will be sorely missed each week) lose a fan base. You can't expect a viewer to stay involved in the show when they don't see it for weeks on end. I don't know when the networks are going to wake up and start giving the viewers what THEY want instead of what the networks THINK we want. And the Geico cavemen? Someone spare me that. Such idiocy.

As a person that doesnt watch much Tv it was something to actually get hooked on a show. Every person I know understood that on wednesday nights from 8-9 to do call since jericho was on. I agree that the plot did get a bit slow for a couple episodes leading into the jail break but now looking back I see that it was possibly to demonstrate the calm before the storm...the middle of the storm is where we were left...we need closure we need to know what happens, we cant give up... as we saw in the "finale" when asked to surrender what should our reply be?.........NUTS! Where I never watched Jericho, Crossing Jordan, Studio 60, or The Class, I can appreciate the responses here. Networks seem to have short seasons with huge cliffhangers and inexplicably long wait times for the next season. As a viewer that is incredibly frustrating. Sci-fi Channel is terrible about this with shows like Star-Gate (both SG-1 and Atlantis) which are in their last seasons :"-(, and Battle Star Galactica. I continue to watch Sci-Fi though because they pick up other great shows that have been cancelled, such as "Dead Like Me" and for a while "Highlander". I'm sick of reality shows. I hated them at their advent, and I hate them now. I am ready to cover my ears and childishly start going "la la la la la" every time someone wants to talk about "Survivor" or "American Idol". For goodness sakes, enough is enough! Give us some decent story lines with intriguing twists and historical and pop culture references. The art of good programming to me is that which inspires you to find out more, or to use your imagination. At this point I am more inclined to watch the Discovery and History channels to be so inspired. I love "what if" scenarios. Heroes does an excellent job of keeping a person interested, but as the story line is headed at the moment, I see it only lasting a season or two more before they end or bungle up the most intricate plots and story lines. Networks should really look at television series' such as Star-gate to find out what made them succesful enough to run for 8 and 9 seasons or more. (Trust me it could probably run more, I just think the actors are ready to move on in their careers.) Anyway that's my opinion. Worth exactly what you paid for it.

the networks should take a hint for from fx and tnt. i am a forever fan of THE SHIELD". it runs for 12 weeks, no interruptions, and then it's gone until the next year. the closer on tnt is the same way. when you tune in each week and your show has been pre-empted for some mindless drivel, or you get reruns 3 or 4 weeks into the season, you just stop watching.

I don't know why people are ripping on the "Christine" show.... I love that show! I think it's hilarious. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is a great actress. I'm really disappointed over Studio 60 being cancelled. That show was a breath of fresh air - it was original and brought back the good Matthew Perry. He has his humor back like in Friends. Loved that show, how sad that it's cancelled. Does anyone know the fate of Til Death? I haven't heard if it's renewed or not. My husband loves it (I can take it or leave it). I just wish they would quit having their daughter come on the show - she keeps popping in randomly and doesn't fit at all.

"X-files" as good as it was the first 6 seasons would never have made it today. Reality TV??? There is a camera there people.. Rich "on the scene" game shows is all they are. Who would have thought coining a phrase would have generated Billions of dollars. Maybe that was the flash of brillance that the reporter long ago said "we will do on the scene reporting" that was a milestone back then to have the reporters go "on location" to have the area on film as the back drop for the news. Jericho and Crossing Jordan were two of the best shows on TV. Both of these shows deserve a chance to finish and wrap up their storylines. With both we are left hanging and wanting more. When are the powers that be see how frustrated and mad they are making the fans. I have decided that I will not watch any new show that comes on this season. I am tired of getting involved in a show to have it yanked out from under me. As far as I a concerned I hope that all the new shows tank so bad in the ratings that all of the networks might realize that the way TV is viewed now from DVR, Tivo, computer that the fans are not going to stand for all this garbage that they keep trying to pass on to us and that we will fight for a show that we believe in. WAKE UP CBS_NBC_ABC-the fans are not going to take much more before they stop watching all together.

I'm very disappointed in NBC's fall schedule. It canceled Crossing Jordan, the only show that I absolutely drop everything to watch. And to replace it, the network has put on shows centered on a karaoke spelling bee, a remake of the bionic woman, a reality show about parents who lend real babies to teen wannabe parents, a quantum leap ripoff... Additionally, NBC kept lower rated shows. Crossing Jordan was put up against American Idol and had no promotion, and it still beat out other NBC shows. And those shows were renewed.

Add me to the discontented Crossing Jordan contingent, a wonderful show abandoned by its creator and treated like yesterday's trash by NBC. The networks seem to prefer dropping good shows, even if the ratings aren't stellar, and replacing them with drivel. My TV has not been on since the last episode of Crossing Jordan. I'm boycotting NBC and might explore the other networks a bit, thought it sounds like they're all alike. Perhaps I need to get cable to I can stop watching the networks altogether. They've lost sight of who they serve.

NBC is not worthy of calling itself a network anymore. They have sold out on quality programming because game shows and reality television shows are cheaper to produce. The only show NBC cares about is Heroes, which I can't stand whatsoever. Of course how would I know anything else is even on NBC because they don't promote anything but Heroes? When you watch an hour long drama and every commercial break has an advertisement for Heroes, I think thats pushing it and irritating, making me never want to watch the show. Crossing Jordan was my favourite show and its not the cancellation that bothers me so much, though that does bother me, its what led to the cancellation and that I'll never get to see the show properly put to rest. You don't just decide a taped season finale is now a series finale. The fans who watched for six years deserved more than that. NBC proved to me that they do not care whatsoever about the fans that watch their shows, so why should I care about their shows?

The cancellation of NBC's Crossing Jordan has been a huge disappointmet for all of us loyal fans. We've been waiting patiently for all of the loose ends to be tied up...and none of them have, meaning we're left without closure. We've written to NBC, emailed them, sent postcards, started a tissue campaign and guess what? No response. A network that refuses to REPLY to their fans is a network that does not care about the fans, period. I see no reason to remain a faithful viewer of this network. We simply ask for closure, maybe a 2-hour wrap-up, or something along those lines. It's obvious a few of the 'new' shows NBC introduced are going to tank. Look at CBS, they listened to their fans and are willing to give them closure. Now that's a network I'd be proud to be a viewer of. I hope you realize how wrong it was of you NBC to cancel Crossing Jordan without allowing the viewers a chance to watch the main storylines be wrapped up.

I'm hugely disappointed by the canceling of Veronica Mars and Crossing Jordan. While Gilmore Girls has been a favorite of mine for years, I really think it was time for the girls to move on. I'm okay with it because it was Alexis and Lauren's decision... if they're happy with how the show ended, then so am I. What I'm infuriated about is networks treating shows like Crossing Jordan and Veronica Mars they way they have. To cancel them with almost no warning to their devoted fans and to leave us with un-resolved storylines despite our years of dedication to these two shows is just horrible. And to replace them with reality shows like "the Baby Borrowers" and "the Singing Bee" and a show about a bounty hunter for the devil??? Come on. In a world of down-right bad television, these two shows stood for what TV could be... brilliant lead actresses, fantastic supportive casts and wonderful writing year after year.

The networks are losing viewers. No wonder! The deep-thinking among us, those who appreciate quality, are being treated like collateral casualties, unfortunate but necessary. Each season, upfront time results in more angry viewers, which also results in more people at Discovery Channel. Crossing Jordan has been my favourite since the pilot. I can't imagine why the network doesn't consider it necessary to end a series with a reasonable finish. Part of today's lack of customer service. It's hard to find good service, anywhere!

I am more than devasted at the cancellation of Crossing Jordan. Such a quality show and considering that forensic science is the popular premise for many of the hits on CBS, it's unbelievable that NBC would cancel the only show it has on the subject. This show had quality actors, storylines, and also knew just how to touch your heart. It also had a huge following. I will never watch NBC again. They don't know their a-- from their elbow when it comes to programming and scheduling. Most of their shows stink. Crossing Jordan was about the only one I turned NBC on for.

Crossing Jordan was one of the last classic and emotional hour long shows without over the top sex and foul language. Just like old TV you honestly formed a bond with the characters. We lost Profiler the same way - who cares about solid TV when reality TV gives you wife swaps, 5th graders, dancers and singers and just stupid mindless humor. NBC should stand for No Basic Concern for the audience. There isn't anything there for me anymore, TNT, A&E and USA are my home bases now. Even in re-runs the quality is there.

If at all possible, could some other network please pick up CROSSING JORDAN? A few years ago CBS picked up JAG when NBC canceled it without giving it a chance. Once CBS took it over, it went on to many successful seasons. CROSSING JORDAN needs at least one more season to wrap up all the unfinished story lines, especially who killed Jordan's mother and why; which was the main thread through the first 3 years of the show. Fans got no warning that this was the end - most networks promote the series finale weeks in advance to give the fans a chance to be sure to see it. No so with CROSSING JORDAN. Even the onscreen TV guide listed it as a season finale until the day of the show, and as for the network, they didn't say series finale ubtil the intro to the show "coming up next...". Any network that picks up CROSSING JORDAN will be getting a sure ratings winner. Like getting a Van Gough at a yard sale. All the show needs is reasonsble handling... normal promotion and a fixed schedule. We fans (and we are legion), will do the rest. And to the No Brain Cells network, Adios - I won't be back. (Hope the sponsors are taking notice.)

I can't believe CROSSING JORDAN was cancelled... It was a quality show. I have watched all 6 seasons and never felt cheated by even one episode. Could we at least have a few episodes after that cliffhanger? So many other shows are not as enjoyable and for the past 2 seasons, CJ has been given the crappiest time slots ever. A little promotion and a regular time-slot would have done wonders. Let's hope another network is smarter than NBC... I'd follow CJ any day, any time slot.

While I am one of the many, many fans who is sad to see Gilmore Girls go I believe that it was time. Even though I continued to watch it every week, over the past season that show has not lived up to the first 6 seasons. The series finale was a disappointment, yes, because it was more of a season fnale but look at the series finale of "Angel". That being said the cancellation of Gilmore Girls really had nothing to do with the network or the viewers. Both Alexis and Lauren's contracts were up this year and they both said that they would not continue to do the show without the other. I believe that The CW would have kept the show on but without the lead characters there really isn't a show.

Unbelieveable. I am appalled at the cancellation list. It seems as if the viewers opinions don't matter anymore. I'm really disappointed that The Class was cancelled. I was totally looking forward to a seeing if Ethan & Kat were finally going to spill their guts about how they really feel about each other, seeing Richie & Lina get married and finally seeing Duncan & Nicole get together. But, I guess we'll never know. Then GG. I've also watched that show since it's inception. I was made to believe that the show wasn't cancelled, just had some problems with contract negotiations (Alexis Bledel) and that they would be worked out. Heck, maybe it was for the best anyways, since the original writers left anyways. I, too was upset with the 2nd to last episode and the way the whole Logan/Rory proposal was handled. Everyone is jumping on the lame reality TV bandwagon. What a shame? Soon, there will be no reason to even turn on your t.v. sets anymore. Good, witty, intelligent, brilliant & quality shows will soon be yesterdays news....

Those suits on the top floor at CBS are IDIOTS for canceling both Jerrico and Close to Home. I can almost understand canceling Close to Home. It is like so many other shows. But Jerico! It's really upsetting that the CW would cancel 2 of its best shows (Veronica Mars and Gilmore Girls) and choose to air shows such as "The Search for the Next Pussycat Doll" and "Gossip Girl" - (The O.C ripoff, anyone?)! With a line up including One Tree Hill, Supernatural, and Smallville (I cannot believe that show is still on) - the only show worth watching is ANTM - and it's more fun to watch on VH1 or MTV as a marathon anyways! All I have to say is that the CW is NOT off to a very promising start. The whole network now caters to middle school/high school aged GIRLS - not adults or even college students. There will definately be no more CW on my tivo. It's really sad that unless a network "dumbs" down a show (ie: takes away witty dialogue, plot twists) - the American publie refuses to embrace a show. Hmmm...maybe the American stereotype isn't so wrong afterall...

I can't express how upset I was when I heard that the Gilmore Girls had been canceled. In my home it has been a Tuesday night ritual for a very long time. My daughter and I love the two seperate mother daughter relationships (Emily/Loreli-Loreli/Rory). We will miss them. I am sorry the networks can't realize that families need programs like GG and 7th Heaven. It almost seems like the networks are fighting against the family. I guess the only way we have to fight back is to turn the tube OFF. I know mine will be off more this year than it has ever been.

I loved Studio 60 and felt that NBC didn't give it a chance to find an audience. If they back a show they move it around to a time spot that will work. They never supported the show enough to do that. It was great and made you think rather than the mindless other shows that are on. I will say that at least they resolved all of the story lines before they took it off. For those of you that didn't get to see it, maybe you can down load the last episode so you don't get left hanging! Please find another vehicle for Matthew Perry...he's great!
