I hear all the good stuff being said about the episode, but it just didn't do it for me. The whole show seemed slow compared to the last couple of weeks. Moreover, the whole thing was so stale and predictable. We have been waiting and waiting and waiting on Charlie to die, the build up is almost anti-climatic, like, Charlie will never die as well as we have been built up to expect.
Moreover, what is the deal with him saying he 'doesn't swim' earlier in the series, yet, comes clean w/ being a swimming champ, etc? I still think this show is being written based on viewer feedback and reaction.

It is unfortunate that the Lost writers feel it necessary to point out over and over again that they don't understand anything about radios. From the guys who claimed you need three people to triangulate a source, we now have ... an completely submerged radio transmitter! How do these howlers get on the air without a SINGLE person involved noticing???

They just got on their boat and vanished. They need to come back with help or something. But the last episode was a good one. I didn't realize the woman that Charlie saved (in his flashback) was Sayid's love, Nadia, until someone pointed it out to me. It was also great to see Bernard and Rose again. They seem like such a sweet couple. It would be great to see more of those two. I hope next week's show answers some questions and wraps up a few ends. I also think the writers need to address Danielle's character. It would be nice to see Danielle's flashbacks and her story and history. After all we saw Desmond's story, so why not Danielle's?

Has 'Lost' found itself?

I thought it was a fantastic episode. (1) Charlie episode: ugh, can he die already? Other than Claire, he is by far my least favorite/least interesting character. Yeah, we get it, you were in a band, eventually got hooked on drugs, and never really did anything with your life..Yawn.

Even without looking at Juliet's expression, it is obvious that Charlie was going to say whatever it took to get the chance to 'save' Claire (although since Desmond's flashes are not time stamped, I sense a red herring here by the writers, i.e. that Claire and Aaron will get picked up, but either it won't happen for another 47 episodes, or somehow the helicopter will crash after they get picked up - another EM surge maybe?)

B. I looked back at the episode, and the actors for the mugger and the 2 girls in Charlie's bed were not the same as those that portrayed Boone or the Hatch Babes. Of course, these scenes may get reshot later with different actors if they writers like those ideas...

C. I wondered why-not-just-cut-the-power-cable too. Maybe it is just a communication line back to Ben and not a power cable, since an underwater station would actually have many options for power that would not be dependent on a cable from the surface.

D. But the biggest problem with the episode was the idea of radio jamming from underwater as mentioned above. This is ridiculous, and really represents laziness on the part of the writers, who have been called out for this sort of stupid mistake before and should have at least asked someone who took high school physics to review the script before filming. Pretty lame, but I am sure that they will write in a fix later on - like maybe Ben was lying about what the function of the Looking Glass really is (like was lying about it being flooded), and the radio jamming comes from somewhere else...like maybe Jacob?

Certainly a creature presumably spawned by strong EM fluctuations would intrinsically be able to manipulate EM energy (like radio waves)? And a lonely creature wanting to bring people to live near it and then not wanting to let them leave would not exactly be a new idea in literature/entertainment, but it would certainly explain a lot.

E. Building on that idea, my prediction for the season finale of Season 4 (next season) is this: the smoke monster has kept Locke alive and he supplants Ben as his mouthpiece/human intermediary after the smoke moster eats Ben for having pursued his own agenda and vendettas. Maybe for having imprisoned or hurt the smoke monster/Jacob: "Help me," and the fact that Ben did not seem really frightened when going to Jacob's shack (like he knew smokey was helpless and there was no real danger), and he was just trying to scare Locke.

Has 'Lost' found itself?

I think the girls in the looking glass station are the women that Ben said died after getting pregnant on the island...thats just my guess tho

Has 'Lost' found itself?

I thought the newest addition was great. So in essence, the writer's thought about the same thing (cutting power) and pre-empted it quite thoughtfully!

Has 'Lost' found itself?

The story of Charlie's past and his future united to form one of the most outstanding episodes I have ever seen. I find her very troublesome and manipulative, don't buy her apparent switch in loyalty, and hope her demise is part of the finale. Did she really think The Looking Glass was unmanned (or unwomanned, apparently)? Or did she know there were people there, but wanted to divert volunteers from the upcoming battle on the beach?

Has 'Lost' found itself?

Common people!!! Some of you saing that "Lost" been slow and boring this season, then why did you keep watching???? I think it has been catching and wanting-to-see-it-again all the time. I liked that this season has been a little bit more concentrated on romantic issues, and not more and more secrets, because head start spinning already from secrets which has not been revealed and instead adding more and more of them. I am so glad that we find out about a lot of secrets which were bugging us since the first season. And for sure everyone waits for Jack and Kate be together. Jack loves her!!!! One scene stuck with me: In one of Juliet's flashbacks, Richard shows here x-rays of an island woman's reproductive system. Juliet said they belong to a 70-year-old, Richard says the woman is in her 20s. This and the fact that Richard, apparently, doesn't age, made me think twice about the issue of Time on the island. Maybe it keeps you young (though maybe not your organs) or maybe it slows down time (for all we know, it's actually 5 years later off the island). The writers confirmed these people are alive, but only said they're somewhere in the "space-time continuem." Something's definitely going on here.

Has 'Lost' found itself?

The Purgatory thing…. I was talking with a friend of mine over the weekend about the “are they in hell” theory. I mentioned the blogs I’ve read where it was stated the writers have said it isn’t hell. Well my friend, a catholic, reminded me that in Christian beliefs (not sure if all Christian faiths as I am not a Christian myself) that there is a difference between hell and purgatory. Purgatory is like a waiting room for “lost” souls. I’ve noticed that those who have “died” on the show have all some how redeemed themselves. I am thinking that they really don’t die (because they are already dead), just their souls move on. It doesn’t explain Ben’s existence, but there is still time for explanations. One other point in the Charlie/Clair story line….in the first season Clair visits a psychic who basically lies to her about an adoptive family for her baby in California just to get her on a plane that crashes. You got the sense that the child she was carrying was evil. Maybe Charlie needs to leave the island so that things play out as they need to with baby Aaron.

Has 'Lost' found itself?

I think the best thing that can do for itself is end. This isn't Law & Order: SUVanilla! The people making this show are incredibly responsible about crafting their story, and they're in no particular rush to reveal everything. The whole point of discovering what's going on on this island hinges on the "unknown Others" - you should be cheering that we've spent so much time this year finding out about them. And that Nikki and Paulo episode was tour-de-force brilliant, esp. with the circus of dead-people cameos. Hitchcock himself woulda been proud. The last 2 eps were HUGE, but also the way things have been revealed the entire season was terrific. Blame the network for the st00pid split-season experiment; that wasn't the show creators.

Has 'Lost' found itself?

Some people have a hard time understanding that characters can and do lie on a TV show. Just because Charlie said that he couldn't swim in season 1 doesn't mean that he doesn't know how. He was a self involved drug addict then and wasn't willing to risk his life, now he has changed and is willing to risk himself for those that he loves, namely claire and the baby. Also, he was lying when he said that he was a swim champ. If you pay attention in the episode they reveal this without spelling it out for the viewers. Also, I don't think that the cable on the beach is a power cord. First, I don't think that a little cable like that would be sufficient to power the entire station. My xbox 360 has a bigger power cord! I've heard that it might be there to tether the station to the island, maybe it's there so that the others can find the station, or maybe it pumps air into the station. Maybe we will find out what it's for at a later date but I'm sure that the writers wouldn't let an oversight like that happen!

Has 'Lost' found itself?

I must be the only viewer who has never complained about anything to do with this show. Lost is pure entertainment it is like reading a great book one chapter a week then taking a break and coming back to read more. I am always disappointed how fast time flies when I am watching it. Great story telling and twists and turns, I do like the shorter flashbacks that have something to do with the current thread and adds to it. I am going to be waiting for next February for sure but baseball and football is there to occupy my time till then. Can't wait for the finale this season and the DVD's. Also, I think the whole Lost was on a downturn this season, was mostly an entertainment-media driven story. The tv critics sing the praises the first season, build the hype the second season, so that they can trash it in the third season. It's the whole rise and fall thing. How many articles did I read in the press about how Lost was slipping this year? It's like all the tv critics got a press release, "LOST isn't as good this year."

I didn't discover LOST until May, 2005, when they began rerunning Sesaon 1, but I have been HOOKED ever since! I can't count the times my jaw has dropped this season and I can hardly wait for 2 hours of my favorite show from 8-10 tonight plus whatever they are teasing us about in a "special" at 7. I agree that the split season thing was a real drag and making us wait til February to start Season 4 is aggravating to say the least.
My favorite characters right now are bad boy Sawyer and Hurley, the ping pong champ, but that is subject to change! They have to bring Locke back because of the whole deal between him and Ben. I can't wait for Danielle to get her first look at her daughter, Alex. The women in The Looking Glass are not the women in bed with Charlie, but I like the idea from V. Dumont that they may be women who became pregnant on the island but women whom Ben says died. Interesting theory.

Has 'Lost' found itself?

I just hope ABC moves Lost back to 8 or at least 9 PM when it returns next year so I can watch it the night it airs instead of having to record it or watch it online a day or more later. But is the lady that 'fell from the sky' really good or bad? I also believe that Locke will come back because remember that people on the island or whereever it is they are they heal extreamly fast, so YES locke will return. But who's side will he actually be on?
And I think that 'Ben's daughter' now knows that she is not his daughter and Russo will make a huge effort in the finale to let her know who she really is! One thing I love about this show is you never know who to trust! Everyone has skeletons in their closets and there seems to be alot of closets on this 'island'.
I also believe that this 'Jacob Ghost' is being held there by Ben. Because if you remember the voodoo type sulfer around the shack is what is keeping Jacob in there. So there is something that Ben of course has a secret about.
And I recommend HIGHLY that if you have Tivo or a DVR from cableone record lost and replay the previews slowly because you see alot more that you would just watching it regularly. These producers a brilliant and they have my loyalty for this season and all of the seasons to come.

Has 'Lost' found itself?

I am a bit curious about the aging thing too...Ben aged, but Richard hasn't? One idea that's occurred to me is that, during the "tests" Walt told Michael were done on him, the Others could have given him growth hormone or something. True, I have no idea why they would do that... Still, it would solve the problem of Walt's now being a teenager! I also really want to know why Richard hasn't aged, yet Alex was born on the island, went through childhood (we've seen photos of her as a young girl in Ben's house), and is now a teenager.

Has 'Lost' found itself?

Maryam Raleigh. Those episodes will tell alot.

Has 'Lost' found itself?

im known as having a heart of ice, my friends say im quite uncompassionate, but thats the allure of me. however this weeks lost episode made me cry. and i haven't cried over a show or movie...ever. tonight had such tender moments. when charlie left the ring in aarons crib...very cute. but when he realized that he had to do it to save claire and the baby...when it really truly hit him. it was over. i was crying. and then when he wrote that his number one memory of his life was meeting her...that was something. call me a hopeless romantic. call me a pmsing girl, i am neither. this was lost at its finest hour.

Has 'Lost' found itself?

I just watched the last episode and I think the plot is getting closer to my original idea...They are in an alternate dimension. Vindication! Redemption for the show's writers, vindication for those of us who stuck with the show when it seemed to be losing itself. Possibly the best season finale in TV history. I was particularly pleased to be 'deceived' by the flashback which turned to be a flashfoward that seemed to justify the weirdly concordant admonitions of Ben and John Locke.

As for the final episode, I am still trying to understand why Charlie didn't go on the side Desmond was and close the door. I think it is possible Charlie survives. Personally, I hope he does. I think they pushed too much that Charlie would die to allow it to happen - it is much too predictable for Lost. Why wouldn't Charlie take a few minutes to put on his scuba gear before unjamming the transmission? Why didn't he just step out and close the door behind him? Tenna L., I agree with you, I also loved lost from the start. It's a great show, I am also sad that (if he did) Charlie died. He wasn't my favorite character, but I think I could relate to him. My favorite characters are probably Sun, Claire, and Hurley. Hurley's awsome because he's hilarious, Sun has a great personallity, and Claire is beautiful and kind. I can watch Lost over and over again and I will never get bored. It's my favorite show that isn't animated. The writters do a great job with the twists in Lost, I am always excited to see the episodes. I stay at my mom's on Wednesday, so I can't watch them on Wednesday. I have to record them at my dad's and I watch it with my dad and my step-mom every Thursday night when my sisters go to bed. I hate it when people say what happened "last night on Lost." Example: "I can't believe Locke got shot last night" then I say "Damn it...why did you tell me that" they say "Ooops...sorry, I didn't know you could switch moods so fast." That's cool though, I'll watch it that night, so it doesn't really matter...it's cool...it's cool

Has 'Lost' found itself?

Lost was never lost, some of the audience lost their ability to understand how to watch the show. It's not exactly your typical every day, run of the mill shows offered multiple times on every network. It's like reading a book except every week you see another chapter of the story, and it morphs between genres so you get , sci fi, action adventure, romance, etc etc. If you appreciate quality then you would have never thought Lost was any place other than right where it should be, one of the best shows on Network television.
