Where on earth is "24" in your Best Drama conversation? The show had it's argueably best season this past year. It's usually nominated for far worst seasons. As for Best Actor...we watched Jack Bauer almost die (seisures and all) this entire season. I wouldn't mind seeing him get back into the category for actually doing good this season (see previous comment about getting nominated for worst seasons).

Are you kidding? Hugh Laurie probably had one of his best seasons with "House." Also the show was probably had one of its better seasons too. Laurie plays one of the best characters on TV and should finally be recognized with his first Emmy hands down. I agree with adding Dennis Leary, because this season of "Rescue Me" has been by far the best and his performance was excellent. Like the Emmys, you have to "hate" on "House" for absolutely no reason.

I wholeheartedly agree with the absolute need to have The Shield be represented - the final season was one of the best TV seasons I have ever seen and Michael Chiklis and Walton Goggins were unbelievable. I would also include Bryan Cranston for his work on Breaking Bad. Finally, I would add Nelasan Ellis in the Supporting Actor category for his magnificent work as Lafayette Reynolds on True Blood.

Even though the writing on Grey's Anatomy has been abominable, the cast has done great things with mediocre material. Even though a SUPPORTING actress declined to compete last year, one of the show's leads is reportedly entering in the Supporting Actor category, probably due to lack of air time. Nevertheless, Patrick Dempsey's performance last season was nuanced and subtle, overcoming the lacklust writing to deliver a performance deserving of a nomination, if not an award.

I don't know about the period of eligibility but I would have to say whatever category you want to put her in Alison Pill is a must have nominee for her performance of April on "In Treatment". Hope Davis was very, very good as Mia, too but Pill was a revelation.

You talk about The Shield and don't mention CCH Pounder's Claudette Wymm? In my opinion they should just give her the Emmy now. Her Portrayal of Claudette Wymms was fantastic. Pounder had such amazing nuance. One could see Wymm's quiet determination to create anything good from the disaster that was the barn before her disease forced to quit. She brought strength and grace to the role with just a touch of vulnerability.

And that final confrontation with Vic. Brilliantly done. Pounder was one of the few actors on the show who could go stare down to stare down with Chiklis is full Mackey mode.

If CCH Pounder is not at least nonimated for Best Supporting Actress this year than the Emmy's are even more bankrupt than I thought.

True Blood deserves at the very least a nomination. I'm sure Anna Paquin will get her mon for both True Blood and Irena Sendler. While the category for leading actor in a drama is very tough, Stephen Moyer is incredible. Rutina Wesely should get a supporting role nomination as well.

As for the actor category, Gabriel Bryne (HBO's In Treatment) deserves an Emmy. That show is BRILLIANT! I think that Showtime's 'The Tudors' deserves some love and respect also.

Lost is by far my favorite of all the dramas, and I'm always impressed with its all around great quality. I would love to see FNL finally get some Emmy attention, and BSG too.
I like True Blood, but don't feel that Anna Paquin's acting is all that great in it. The women of Big Love were really amazing this season, I'd like to see them get some nominations. Bill Paxton, not so much - I've always found him duller than dull, especially compared with the dynamic women on the show. The Closer is always very good, as is star Kyra Sedgwick.
I would definitely like to see some new names in the categories, so if that means leaving out a multiple nominee/winner like Hugh Laurie, maybe it's time.

Ian McShane is giving the best dramatic performance by a Lead Actor this year and he is not even a contender for his role on Kings. Such a shame that such an amazing performance will be overlooked.

Dear lucy2, NJ - Hugh Laurie is NOT a multiple winner. He's been nominated 3 times and has never won the Emmy. He's won all the other television acting awards twice each - GG, SAG, and TCA. I think that's the problem, the Emmy voters seem to be under the delusion that he's won the Emmy many times before. And he was brilliant this season. As he was in S1, 2, 3, and 4.

I definitely believe that Ellen Pompeo Did a better job at portraying Meredith Grey than January Jones did at playing Elizabeth Draper. Jones performance seemed mechanical and boring. Nothing special. Shes definitely the weak link in the show. Ellen, on the other hand, gave Meredith the extra charm and presence that makes a "character" into a real life person.
Ellen may be the dark horse, but shes definitely more talented than most of the woman who get nominated.

I totally agree that "Breaking Bad" must be on any list of Best Dramas. This show is just amazing--I guess too many people find it difficult and dark, but the writing and acting are incredible.
