Hate: Sony Handycam (I think) ad with the grown man being bathed in the kitchen sink by his obviously deranged and yet somehow not institutionalized parents. Horrifying! By the time they get around to mentioning the product my brain is screaming "make it stop!" so I'm not 100% sure if it is Sony Handycam.

Love: Trojan Condoms pigs in a bar ad. I know it's been controversial, but I think it's really clever. I'm not sure how it's any more offensive than the ED ads (When the time is right...) or any ads for tampons!

Alright Gael, you almost started an early morning office riot here. None of my co-workers or myself had seen the Berries and Cream commercial (lucky us) so we just watched it courtesy of your link, and I have to say that's almost more irritating than Head On. I think the majority of the words used to describe it here were expletives. It's got our vote for worst.
My only problem with the K-9 Advantix commercial is that it's older than dirt as far as commercials go at this point. How many years has that been around? If we're going to do cute dogs I still love the new PetSmart ad with the bull dog and his little sister.
The "IDK, my BFF Jill" commercial bugs me for a couple of reasons...mostly that the mother winds up looking like an idiot at the end of the commercial with her "That's what S..N..F..." retort (Never lower yourself to the kids' level. It's like going in shark infested waters with a sack of meat.) And I think they lost sight of the fact that they're trying to sell these services to the adults, not the kids. Sure my stepdaughters thought the commercial was hysterical. But my husband and I were irked by it and we're the ones paying the bills...be careful which audience you cater to!

Best commercial--the little boy having an "art show" for his parents and they're soooo proud of the grandma's house, the next door dog and then..."mommy and daddy wrestling". It's been on for awhile, but I laugh every time! One of the few that my husband laughs at, as well!

Worst--I don't know if these are only shown in Canada, but they are for Whiska's cat treats and they have short, fat men trying to act like cats. They crawl up on the couch and in one of them the guy is using the litterbox and throwing sand over his waste. NICE! These give me the willies every time I see them and they make me want to scream!

Am I the only one who doesn't get those new milk commercials at all? You know, the series with the kid and the dad breaking into a warehouse or something? I have seen those a million times and I still don't understand what it means..Bring back the cows!

I also sorely detest the Whopper commercials with the dad and son who look like giant walking hamburgers. The one where the kid says, "I wish I'd never been broiled!". Notice the mom and daughter look like regular people. Yeah- ok- like some normal woman would marry, and then spawn, some giant talking whopper. Gross.

I love the IDK commercial - the daughter's expression when she says "IDK, my BFF Jill?" is spot-on. And I love that the mom responds in "normal" adult speak.

I agree with Leslie from NM about the dog commercials. The k-9 one is very old, I find the petsmart one far more heartwarming and worthy of remembering.

I have to agree with Leslie, New Mexico on the "IDK" commercial. I'm not very old (only 30) yet I was irked by the little girls attitude toward the mom. I could never imagine speaking to my mother that way when I was younger or even now. It perpetuates the notion of disrespectful, mouthy kids talking back to their parents and the mother being shown as an "idiot". As Leslie stated above, they targeted the wrong group as the parent is the one paying the bill.

I have two least favorite commercials right now.

1 - I already hated the Geico caveman commercials when they first started, but one of the more recent ones where he's on the moving sidewalk and says "Really, I'm staring at one right now 4' by 5'" I think that's the dimensions says, but the sign he's looking at clearly isn't the dimension he's stating. Maybe I'm just picky.

2 - I don't know why, but the new Ipod commercial with Paul McCartney singing gets on my last nerves. I don't know if it's the colors, the graphics, his walking/dancing - I just don't know.

The worst commercial I ever saw was for Stanley Steamer and I only saw it once (I don't know if they pulled it off the air because it was so offensive). It is a woman talking about how much she likes Stanley Steamer because their employees are as clean as her carpets. They do background checks on all employees so she feels safe with whoever is coming into her house. I don't kow if this was supposed to make us feel safe, but I found it totally offensive and have not seen it since that first viewing.

I seriously have to disagree with the views on the K9 Advantix commerical: There is NOTHING cheesier than talking puppies. Drives me crazy. I used to say you could never go wrong having a golden retriever pup in an add -- until this one.

And unlike the lady from Saskatchewan (again, don't know if you guys have these in the states, but I'm sure their on YouTube) I LOVE the whiskas adds with the old fat men acting like cats. I think it is a cat lover's thing. Here's an outtake:

I really enjoy the new Toyota(?) commercials where the people are talking about how much money they have saved... The best one is when the couple is one the couch, and he says "since we saved so much money, lets get you that neckalace" and she says "or we could get you that mountain bike" and he gets really excited, and it looks like he's going into hug her, but instead he grabs a catalog... the "you can ride on the handle bars" line cracks me up.
I also agree with Sherrie about the little boy's art show...and I like the one with Elvis Costello sitting in the back of a car talking about classical music, I think it's a car company. At the end, when he starts 'conducting' the music, it makes me smile.

The worst ads are the mucas ads... just plain gross and any perscription ads. The Burger King ads creep me out too.

So, going with the commercials that have been posted already, I hate the K9 Advantis commercial. IT'S SO ANNOYING! I actually think the IDK commercial is pretty funny. The girl is annoying, but the concept is great.

However, I can't believe that no one has talked about the new Subway commercial?? It's the one where a husband and wife go to a fast food restaurant drive through. The husband proceeds to order "fat and blubber" and then the wife asks for "an order of thunder thighs, and a badonka-donk butt." This commercial is HYSTERICAL! The first time I saw it, I was thinking, "Did they really just say that?"

The other commercial that I can't HELP but repeat it for hours after I see it is the new Axe commercial. "BOM-CHICKA-WOW-WOW! BOM-CHICKA, BOM-CHICKA! BOM-CHICKA-WOW-WOW!"

There are two types of people when it comes to the "BFF Jill" commercial, those who really get it, and those who don't. You can easily separate the two by the way they view the mom. Those who dislike the mom's foolishness and the child's attitude, I feel, don't get it. More often than not, these people also happen to be parents themselves or part of an older generation.

It's not that the child isn't rude, or that the mom isn't acting foolish, the beauty of the commercial is in it's showing of the great divide between most parents and their children today. Could many of you identify what the girl was saying if the subtitles weren't there? The commercial translated some innocous acronyms, but do you understand what asl and nifoc mean? This ad may have been just a plug for a phone company, but it should make you think, "How well do I understand the younger generation/and my children?"

The ad I hate the most is the add for some toliet where a really pretty female plumber is going into a neighbors house and the guy sees this and runs up to his own toliet and trys to clog it so the pretty plumber will come over and unclog his toliet, but the toliet wont clog. I hate this ad because the guys wife walks in and sees him trying to clog the toliet and it just seems wrong to me because he is married but trying to get the pretty plumber to come over. It just makes me really mad and I change the channel every time it comes on.

I love the Dodge Avenger commercial with Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple

But the best commercial set is Verizon FIOS. When the little boy asks if the Verizon tech is the cable guy and he goes into specs on FIOS, the little kid says nice truck. The next of the set is the kid giving the specs to his dad and telling him he should see the verizon techs truck..... LOVE IT!

My least favorite ad is the "Patty" Melt at Hardee's--I absolutely HATE this ad!

Now onto my favorites:

After reading alot of the comments it looks like I'm in the minority, but I really like the Dairy Queen Waffle/Sundae commerical series, those crack me up.

I also really like the "Carrot on the Shoulder" for Bud-Lite, where the guy walks into a pirate bar with a carrot on his shoulder instead of a parrot!

I haven't seen this one very often, but it has really stuck with me: The M&Ms as the Addams Family (complete with the Addams Family Theme Music) for the Dark Chocolate M&Ms.

And my absolute favorites are the GE One Second Theater (Eco-imagination) ads. They make it worth your while to watch the ad on slow-mo. The latest one that I've seen is the one with the frog bounding around the world landing on different GE properties, but at the very end of the ad if you watch it frame by frame they do a cute send up of the Frog Prince fairy tale!! Talk about make technology (Tivo) work for you.

My favorite ad right now is the wife telling her husband they're pregnant and the call drops. He's dancing like a loon, but she can't hear him. "Way to step up there, Rick." The Vegas dorpped call ad is good, too.

And I'm surprised the Mac vs. PC ads never made the best mentions in the last couple years. They're still great, and I make a point of not fast-forwarding my DVR when I see a new one on.

nominations for the best:
The GE commercial where the little boy captures the wind in a jar and then treks cross country to deliver
to the Granpa's birthday party reels me in every time. I just love the mussed looks on everyone at the end when the jar is opened and the wind escapes.
No one has mentioned the Chevy commercials where each
scene is accompanied by a song about chevrolets. The only one I can remember(or really know)is with Dale Earnhart,Jr singing the country song "We're not the Jet Set. We're the old Chevrolet Set. But ain't we got love". It brings a smile every time.
Also, speaking of Junior, has anyone besides me noticed the new Nascar Budweiser can looks as though he is taking a leak on the far side of his car?? Why would they pose the picture like that instead of facing head-on for heavensakes? It makes me laugh out
loud every time I look at it...I'm smilin' now just thinkin' of it.

Love the "dropped calls" ads, especially the one with the daughter calling from Vegas with her boyfriend and mom thinks they have eloped and tells her, "Don't make the same mistake I did."

Tied for most hated- Yaris car ads; I just don't get the whole "gas tank shrinking the gas pump thing." Are my husband and I the only ones who hate it? Also hate the Viva paper towel commercial with the bratty kid and mom spraying soda and water all over the kitchen and then supposedly wiping it up with paper towels. Why are moms portrayed as such idiots in so many ads?!

The BFF Jill ad is good, and is definetally creative. What strikes me about it is that the mother understands what her daughter is saying, showing that she's involved and interested in what her daughter does. Though I would agree that I would not let my kid talk to me like that.
But my vote for best goes to the Cingular Dropped calls ads. They're much funnier, and they get bonus points for having variety (not the same one commerical over and over). The first one was the best, and I can't believe no one has mentioned it yet: "Cat got your tounge? Earl got your tounge?". That line makes me laugh every time.

(Just have to note that the dog in the K9 commerical is a yellow lab, not a golden retriever.)

I have to say I think that the BFF Jill add is one of the worst. Something about that commercial just irritates me.

As for Berries and Cream. That commercial does not make sense, however the way that little man claps and sways, cracks me up all the time! I also enjoy the dog butt on the carpet one..it's just funny and very true!
I dont think this one was mentioned either. The comcast "save money" campaign, where one in particular has the lifeguard run over to the deer on the beach and says "not on my watch" and it flashes over and says "Save big bucks" the whole concept is extremely creative!

Can I just say that some people take commercials too seriously? They are supposed to be creative/ridiculous/entertaining. Of course some of these things wouldn't happen in real life. But would you remember a product if someone just came on the screen and said "buy this"? Other than that, most people's comments are very entertaining, and I'm remembering a lot of commercials that I had liked but forgotten about.
And did anyone see the pepsi commercial where the guy pauses the baseball game as Damon is diving into home? He looks at the catcher, while in mid air and goes "you're not gonna catch that are you?". love it, even though I hate pepsi.

I like the new one where the mom finds the cell phone minutes in the garbage and told her he can use rollover minutes. And was mad he just threw them away. I thought it was cute.

I think the person that said the IDK commercial is disrespectful needs to lighten up. I know many many girls that age that mouth off to their mother. Its the age. Its a fun commercial.

One of the best commercial series is the La Quinta ads, at least, they were before they started having a narrator. I think we all got it BEFORE they had some guy having to read it to us (are we that lacking in reading skills?). I also love the PetSmart ad with the bulldog and his beloved toy and the K-9 Advantix. Ones that really bug me would have to be the Avis commercial with the people opening their mouths and screaming rock music. I don't have anything against rock music, I just absolutely abhor that ad and cannot change the channel fast enough. I don't want to even THINK about renting a car from them, no matter what their prices or features.

The new Life Savers ads are also annoying.

Sigh.

I'm fairly young (29) and I don't have children, but the talk-text commercial drives me insane. The first time I saw it I thought it was cute, but the more I saw it the more inscensed I became.

It really trumpets the way that children are spoiled in our society today. Your kid runs up an enormous cell phone bill? Don't worry! Just expand your plan! Make it so that she doesn't need to learn how to manage to stay within a budget! You'll take care of it! It irks me and I don't even have kids.

Much like the commercial with the little girl who smacks the cough syrup out of her mother's hand because she doesn't like the way it tastes -- I'm sorry, but NO -- aboslutely not. (My sister who has children is very vocal about how much she dislikes that commercial.

Commercials I like? The Slowskys (they have their own website) -- esp. where the lady turtle is a Sodoku maniac and the one with the lava, the birds who pull the sliding door gag, and the Sprint anti-theft ad. Also any ad that has a song I wind up researching and purchasing from iTunes -- this means that I even like one of those awful caveman ads.

OK, the Little Lad freaks me out, but that &*$! Starburst commercial is one of the best ones out there right now. My teenage sons are mesmerized by it; since they (unlike their 42-year-old mother) ARE Starburst's demographic target, that seems like enough validation to me. And ... I have to admit it ... the more I watch ... the more fascinating I find that darn Little Lad.

Least favorite? Easily that sappy K9 puppy and the sanitary-pad commerical with the exploding water tower -- yeeee-uch.

We have one here in California for Cox Communications where this creepy litle guy is complaining that "last night, I gave my number to three smokin' hot ladies, and not one call. What are the chances that all three called at once and clogged up your system?" (the phone guy) "About one in a billion." (creepy guy) "Oh, so there IS a chance." It's pretty funny.

I do not understand those new milk commercials. It drives me crazy that I don't get it. I keep thinking that I missed a part in the beginning.

Oh, and it bugs me TOO that the caveman is looking at the "four by five" picture and it clearly is way larger than that. That's all I got for now.

I hate the commercial for the feminine pads, where the girl soaks up an entire water tower. What bugs me even more, she slides it back into her BAG! Um, what? I don't care if it's just water, throw it away, don't keep it as a souvenier! Yuck...

The commercials I love:
The ones for the NBA Finals, where they have a magician (I think it's David Blaine) explaining some "basketball phenomenon." My fave of that series was "Yao or Yaos." Hilliarous!

Also, the one for T-Mobile's "5" Where Charles Barkley makes Dwyane Wade watch old clips of him playing basketball. Dwywane comments on Charles' shorts, saying "SEXY!" Cracks me up everytime!! :D

That said the current worse commercial is a tossup between that excerable Starbursts Berry's and Cream Fauntleroy, his squeal,followed by the falsetto (my teeth have lost at least 1/4 inch of enamel from grinding them when that commercial comes on) and that obnoxious Mrs Right Now on the new NetFlix commercials (she accounts for the rest of the missing tooth enamel). The singing dogs annoy me, because something is subtlly off with the scan or rhyme scheme (also, I've always hated singing animals)

There are no "must watch" commercials on right now, although I really liked the Wii/Pirates of the Carribean tiein commercials.

UGH - the worst I've seen lately BY FAR is the Stanley Steemer ad with the dog dragging his rump (and smearing God-knows-what)across the rug. I didn't think it was funny when I was little and my dog did that, either.
I do kind of like the one for some brand of bottled water where the gal is walking down the sidewalk and the water she's drinking makes her feel so fabulous she is imagining people like John Stamos and Derek Jeter checking her out. But to be honest, I'd probably even like the Head On commercials if they had John Stamos and Derek Jeter in them.

The BFF Jill commercial is great. Personally, I abhore reading textspeak (it makes my eyes bleed) but hearing it spoken is pretty funny, and it does a good job of illustrating the culture of "these kids today." As for Cingular itself, they're not endorsing kids talking back to parents! They're peddling their products - rate plans - to parents who already gave cell phones to their kids (and who may regret having done so).

I don't mind the BFF Jill commercial, I liked the cell phone commercial better where the mother and daughter are yelling at each other. They sound like they are furious but they are saying nice things to each other. It cracks me up!

The puppy is cute and I'll watch it every time.

The dropped calls commercials are great, especially the ones with the new son-in-law and the "we're pregnant" call.

The one I can't stand is the family sitting down to eat Kentucky Fried Chicken and what looks like a 12 year old boy comes to the table and complains about the legs and thighs bucket not being around when he was a kid, and he says something about being accepted into college? I guess I just don't get it.

I just saw the Berries and Cream commercial and I think I'll have to fast forward though that one, A LOT!

Has anyone seen the Nestle ice cream bars commercial where the "Nestle Ice Cream Fairy" magically turns the boy standing with 2 girls beside an ice cream freezer into which ever ice cream treat they may contemplate? In the end they decide on the chocolate dipped drumstick rolled in crushed peanuts. When the "Ice Cream Fairy" turns him into this icey treat the girls attack him and start chowing down and, no word of a lie, the tag line is "Hey girls, easy on the nuts"! I swear I saw this, anyone else?!

BEST: I really enjoy the Petsmart ads. The little wiener dog with his "Bobo" that has to be replaced while he sleeps because he has just "loved" and chewed it to death reminds me of my own pets. Dogs used in commercials just "get" me where I live. The only one I really hate to see is the, "I'm a good dog and I just want to go home." Gees, after seeing that one; I wanted to slit my wrists. I felt terrible for days afterwards.
WORST: The Dad telling his rotten, no-good kids that they can finally afford all the texting and cell phoning bills with the "new" plan and Mom doesn't have to work two jobs to pay the bill. Gees, I just want to smack those miserable kids, with their "so what" attitude and the useless Dad who can only come up with a weak, "hola" when his exhausted wife comes home from her "second job" dressed as a taco.
One thing that I do find interesting from reading all the comments is; that anything to do with body functions, especially female body functions are considered "gross" and "disgusting". What, women's bodies and their functions are "gross"? Why are we taught that anything guys do is just fine--even funny; but women are just "gross" and they should be hidden whenever their bodies do something that men's bodies don't do. It reminds me of a quote from South Parks' Mr. Garrison; "I never trust anything that bleeds for five days and doesn't die!" I guess women, in our culture, still aren't allowed to sweat, spit, bleed, or break wind. Oh well, just a thought.

I actually really hate the oreo commercial Amy (from Pensacola) mentioned above. Bad acting on the part of Mom and Kitty.

But there's one that I think is from Starburst that features a walrus throwing up on its trainers. Gross, but hilarious. But gross. I think it gets more play on stuff like Adult Swim.

I also think I hate the Skittles one with the singing rabbit. It's okay for about five seconds, but by the time it's the end it makes no sense whatsoever and does not amuse me.

Admittedly I like the little berries and cream lad, and I hate the BFF Jill commercial. I text using txtspk all the time, and it is still annoying.

Someone mentions the little girl slapping her mother's hand away--that's what it reminds me of, too. OR the little girl in the shopping cart: "I HATE pancakes. I HATE chicken. I don't think I like that either." Oh, shut up you brat.

I LOVE the pay it forward ads that have been mentioned (Liberty Mutual?) and ALSO the Bank of America ads where everyone looks into the logo on the window and sees their dreams coming true. Kinda sappy, but also kinda nice.

Ok here is my pick for worst (and I am devoting this whole post to this one commercial):

The all time worst ever is the "little lad" Starburst commercials. I have had commercials that make me want to run out of the room screaming but this one takes the cake. I AUDIBALLY scream Noooooooooooooooo when it comes on and scramble to either mute or turn the channel before he starts singing the song that makes my skin crawl.

I am the 29 female demographic that 90% of all commercials are supposed to hit and I tell you what, that commercial causes a knee jerk reaction for me to involuntarily twitch when I hear the words, "Berries and Cream" *shudder* I didn't even want to type it. I HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT.

In fact, I refuse to consume any product that is "berries and cream" (like ice cream or soda) anymore because it makes me think of that weird little guy doing that dance that makes me want to punch him in the face.

Sorry that one has to win worst. It is just...awful.

I so totally love this time of the year. This commercial event is just the greatest. Here’s a couple notables: The Budweiser “Real Men of Genius” is just pure hilarity. There’s a whole slew of them, so it’s hard to choose just one. Also, I just rave about the Dunkin Donuts “Rip Things In Half” commercial, not only cuz I know one of the kids in that vid but the song is just so catchy.

The top commercial is definitely the “BFF Jill” commercial. It’s the geek speak and the way the girl delivers her lines that I love. And the bottom-feeder commercial award goes to the “Berries N Cream Lad”, I hate that guy and at first I had no idea what he was babbling about.

I totally agree about the Sonic ad about "what does your drink say about you?". The Sonic ads are really hit and miss, either really funny or really annoying (especially the ones with the 2 guys... the woman can be pretty funny sometimes). In the fast food vein, I agree that the Sirloin vs. Angus ad is stupid. Angus is not a part of the cow!

The Mac vs PC ads are good, too, albeit not always too true to life (some are dead on). PC is just too funny, so my husband and I always stop DVR fast-forwarding if a new Mac commercial comes on. And some of the anti-Windows things are dead-on, even for a seasoned Windows user like me.

I like the Dwayne Wade-Charles Barkley commercial for being in "your five" or something like that when the girl asks if Charles is Dwayne's father. Hilarious!

Absolutely hate the Slowsky ads for Comcast (maybe that's just because I hate Comcast, but I think they are pretty dumb). Hate most prescription drug ads where they act like the side effects are something that should come up in conversation among friends, or the way this one drug is talked about by a doctor and his like med school class or something. Also, that Old Spice ad with that guy singing at the piano with the weird looking women... who would buy Old Spice after seeing that ad? Is there target audience old men with a fetish for weirdly styled women? Ugh... After that one ran the first time, my husband and I looked at each other like, WTH?

I know these ads have been running for years, but they always update them... I hate the yogurt ads with the two women talking about some yogurt being so good and each has to outdo each other with their superlative ("private island good", etc.) They are so annoying, and the woman with the short hair has the most grating voice! Maybe it's for Yoplait? I'm not sure, but if I can fast-forward through those I will, otherwise, I hit the mute button.

That is because I'm always saying things like "did you see that great commercial? I can't remember what product it was for but it went like this...."

K9 Advantix ad- you can't go wrong with cute puppies, but the ad isn't that great and we've been seeing it for awhile
I hadn't seen the Little Lad Starburst ad until I looked at the YouTube link. I thought it was funny, but it could get annoying if you saw it over and over again.
I'm ambivilent on the BFF Jill ad. I'm surprised it is such a big deal.
I can't stand the Patty Melt commericial. It makes no sense.
I don't like the Happy Cows Come from California commericials.
I like the MAC vs. PC ads- I don't think I've ever seen a bad one.

I think Cingular's cell phone commercial with the so-called "argument" between the mother and daughter is sooo much funnier than the IDK MY BFF JILL advertisement.

My favorite is the one where Kasey Kahne pulls a rabbit out of his helmet and says, "That's magic," and Jamie McMurray responds by saying, "No, that's sleight of hand," then calls his crew chief on his phone -- "Get me a bunny." Crew chief runs over, takes the bunny from Kahne and gives it to McMurray. "That's magic."

I just have to second the worst for the latest Hot Pockets commercials.
It was a tough call between those and the Berries and Cream, but I had to give the Hot Pockets ads the edge.

Annoying as he is, the "little lad" ALMOST makes sense, as he is expressing his love for the product advertised.

Non sequiturs can be hilarious, but the disconnect between whatever action is taking place and Hot Pockets is just unbearable.

Love the Lifesavers commercials! Especially the 'Muffin top' one. My friends and I have been pointing (and laughing) at these for years and finally it gets some recognition in mainstream media!!
Hate this Hyundai ad that plays in the theaters. It's narrated by Kelsey Grammar. It starts by talking about smart people and how great it is to be smart, pretending it's going to be something really deep and thought provoking (for farrrr to long) and then suddenly turns into a super lame typical car commercial with some lame line about "smart people buy Hyundais!" Too bad smart people didn't make your ad!

My favorite commercials were the ones for Cingular Wireless with the dropped calls. They are so funny, especially the pregnant one.

The Hillshire "GO MEAT!" campaign is hilarious. I love the cheerleader type chants. It's great cause you can sing along. On youtube there have been a bunch of tribute videos.

The Dark chocolate M&Ms commercial with the Addams family is pretty great, I find myself singing along.

Any of the Geico commercials.Caveman or gecko.
The stupid Nasonex french accent bee.
Any product that thinks I believe their product is better because the voiceover is done with a British accent.

Among my favorites....
I actually like Abe and the groundhog especially where they are together in a room and Abe is shooting paper "footballs" and the groundhog says "oh grow up."

I HATE the ads with the 2 angels; it's for Philadelphia Cream Cheese. They are the homliest angels ever, and the dialog is lame at best. Also hate the air freshener commercial with the "busy, working mom" who is a giraffe and whose children are a whole different species than she is. Not buying that. Last, HATE the cavemen. I know I'm in the minority here, but they bug the crap outta me AND it would have been such a small thing to get the size of the sign to match what he is saying. Ugh. HATE.

On the other hand, love both the Advantix and the Cottonelle ones, but then I'm a sucker for yellow lab puppies. And count me a vote for the BFF Jill ad; I think its more clever than annoying.

Has anyone seen the commercial for Skittles with the singing rabbit? A guy trades his singing rabbit for a bag of skittles. Not only is it a totally bizarre commercial (the rabbit's singing is really creepy!), but I have no idea what it has to do with skittles. HATE that commercial!

I love the dropped call ads too, I forgot about those earlier. The pregnancy one is one of my favorites. And I personally love the commercials with the Visa debit card and about cash slowing you down. The first one was the best by far, with everybody working at the eatery and then crashing into each other when the guy with cash shows up.

2 worst commercials right now: Gatorade Derek Jeter/Harvey Keitel - partly because I find baseball to be more boring than watching paint dry (I've done both - paint drying was by far more eventful), and partly because I hate the line: You gotta do what you gotta do.... Annoying. Also - the Gatorade commercial that talks about the Gators' football national championship. I'm a Buckeye and live in Buckeye country and the ad runs here in Columbus. What moron marketer decided to run this commercial in COLUMBUS? It's resulted in a total and eternal boycott of Gatorade for me.

Also, any Target commercial is horrible. Hey Target: Quit trying to be hip and trendy! You're a discount retail firm barely one step above Wal-Mart; and the only reason you're one step above Wal-Mart is the cleanliness of your stores!

Oh, I am so glad that someone mentioned those John Basedow "Fitness made simple" ads, even though they've been playing for at least ten years (in some form) they are so cheesy! I had a roommate in college who called him Johnny Pencilneck because his neck has almost no muscle and the rest of his body is very muscular. He is also Oompa-loompa orange, it makes him look so creepy!
The "IDK, my BFF Jill" commercial annoys the hell out of me too. Ugh, when I have children, they better not speak to me like that. Why do middle and elementary school children need cell phones anyway?

Nobody has mentioned the Cold Stone Creamery commercials with the heiress ("Paris Hilton type") who is afraid to go into the store because of the more beautiful heiress, paparazzi, and dog that she gave away. Also, the small child that is afraid to enter the store because of the boogie man, piece of broccoli, monster under the bed, and monster in the closet. Makes me laugh.

The NFL Network has a series of "Fantasy Football Rules" ads featuring guys at their fantasy football draft--hysterical!

I also love the ads for a healthy alternative to fast food (maybe Subway?) where the couple at the drive-thru orders, "an extra blubber layer and a badonkadonk butt." So funny to hear a middle-aged woman say "badonkadonk".

Is it me or is almost every commercial these days irrelevant to the product? I find myself saying, "Huh? Did I just miss something?" And, I swear, nearly all car ads look the same to me!!!

I don't know if they have them where you are, but the Subway commercial where the guy goes to the baseball game is pathetic. He just sits down in his seat, nobody around him, when a home run ball lands right next to him. While he and others are fighting for the ball, a fan rips off his sandwich yelling and screaming "I got it." What's worse, when they do the tag line at the end, the guy comes back and rips off his drink. If I did that a a ball game, I'd get the boot.

The worst: The air fresherner commercial where the busy mom is a giraffe and the two bratty "kids" are warthogs. I don't even know what kind of air freshener is being sold because every time I see this inane commercial, I can't focus on anything but the fact that a giraffe gave birth to two warthogs!!! This commercial is the absolute worst!!!

I do like the IDK commercial, though I'd take my kids' cell phones away if they spoke to me like that, and I love the "Bobo" commercial!

My favorite commercial is one of the Orbitz dirty mouth commercials. This one is where a soon to be ex-wife gives her husband back his car...in a box. The set up is not that original, but the dialog is great. "Pickle you Cumquat!" "Who the frenchtoast are you calling a Cumquat you Lintlicker" I don't know why but I love the actors-especially the trashy girlfriend, and find myself using their profanity instead of real curse words.

Best commercials: My husband and I love all the dropped call commercials--they rotate them enough that no one seems terribly overplayed. In general I like Target commercials. I love the iPod commercials with the dancing silhouettes--old but good. The Subway commerical with the fast-food diners ordering "love handles and a side of blubber" is great.

But most of all, I adore the PetSmart bulldog commercials with the new "little sister" (mentioned a few times above). In fact, my brother called to tell me he was considering getting a puppy. All I said was, "Have you seen the cutest commercial in the world?" and he instantly understood me.

Worst--Burger King needs a new ad agency. From the creepy king to the inane "Spongebob No-pants" to the terrible "I am Man" commercials, they have been consistently turning me off from their product for years. To quote someone else, "I want to beat the King to death with a sack of whoppers."

I concur with a lot of opinions given above for bad commercials (Oxi-Clean shouting, paper towel commercial where mom sprays kid with sink hose, Berries and Cream lad), but I just saw the creepiest, worst commercial ever last night. (I may hate this one more than I hate all the BK ads combined--this is a huge amount of loathing.)

One man enters a barn to tell another that the milk tastes sour. Then we see that a milking machine is attached to--the second man? His consumption of sour Skittles is making his milk sour? I don't care that it has nothing to do with Skittles--I care that it is so vile and disgusting to see a man hooked up to a milker. And to imagine the other driking it. Ugh.

I've posted a few comments on best/worst commercials, but one topic I haven't seen addressed much here is sexism in commercials. In particular I'm thinking of two Sketchers commercials running concurrently.

The first shows women's shoes with voiceovers from young girls discussing how much they love their Sketchers and couldn't live without them. The second commercial shows men's shoes. Only this time, the voiceovers feature young men discussing how they like the shoes so they're investing in Sketchers stock.

This makes me crazy--how stereotypical to assume that young women will only discuss fashion but young men will have the smarts to invest in stock! I'm not a rabid feministn(and in truth, I sure do love shoes myself), but this makes me steam.

The irony is, the first commercial with the young women would have just been an unmemorable commercial, until I saw the other commercial Sketchers is running. Apparently I don't notice negative female stereotypes until they're juxtaposed with postive stereotypes for males. The worst part is, I bet Sketchers and most of the public hasn't even noticed how these commercials reinforce negative images for women.

I want to throw in a vote for La Quinta. I never was aware of their brand before this, but the campy retro look and witty jokes are very amusing. The quip "La Quinta!" at the end gets their name in your head. This is the definition of an effective ad.

The Subaru Ricky! commercial. Am I the only one who thinks the animals saying someone's name in animal voices is creepy? Animals make animal sounds, they don't call people's names. It's like a horror movie, "when animals become possessed"!

I'm sick of Axe and Tag and every other stanky cologne brand making it seems like women are weak and have no willpower or brains. "Oh, you smell good, I will have sex with you in public this instant! Forget any sort of respect for myself and my body! Then I'll just walk away because you don't want anything else from me!" Aside from the fact that these sprays smell terrible and cheap. Talk about repelling! It's all marketing.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the horrible waste of time that is the celebrex commercial. I wanted to take an NSAID just to make the pain of watching it stop. I am all for educating the public on their medications, but I have never wanted a commerical to end so badly. It is over two minutes long with an obnoxious musical interlude that repeats about every 15-20 seconds. It has all this font dancing around on a blue screen and a very nice woman's voice warning you of EVERY POSSIBLE side effect associated with pain medication. For those of you who have Tivo/DVR, hit fast forward as soon as you can.

As a teen, I actually like the IDKmyBFFJill commercial. It's so funny because the mom understands everything she's saying, and most of all the look on the Mom's face at the end. To those that say the little girl is a brat and the mom is irresponsible, I don't see it that way at all. The girl may be grammatically challenged, but she didn't throw a horrible fit over the whole thing. Also, the mom was involved enough in her daughter's life that she knew what her daughter was talking about. Furthermore, I think people totally missed the part where she took away her daughter's phone. That's a good mother.

Commercial that I hate is the cellphone ad with the two bratty teens on the couch with the mom in the taco suit at the end. Those types of teenagers give all of us a bad name than we already have. It also made me realize that I should be nicer to my mom. I don't want to be put in the same category as those two. Ugh.

Oh yeah. The commercial with the Viva and the orange soda I love. The kid (again) wasn't a brat. Did you see the fearful look on his face when he thought his head was about to get bitten off? The mom just realized to make the best out of a situation that she was going to have to clean up anyway. We all need to lighten up sometimes.

There's a Century 21 commercial trying to get their insurance business going that I think is just awful. Surely not as horrible as the "sand chug" orbit commercial but such a bad marketing scheme I thought it was worth mentioning. The commercial has a company representative that can't find his drycleaning receipt, finds it and then loses it, hits his car door, etc....Now you tell me, would you do business with an insurance company full of incompentent people that can't even complete the simplest of tasks without screwing them up? Their marketing manager should be looking for work elsewhere.

I'd like to submit a new ad that has just started popping up that I feel is absolutely terrible. The product is Sour Skittles, and the ad depicts a man eating the candy while he is strapped to an auto-milking machine. A dairy farmer then comes into the room and complains that the Sour Skittles are making the man produce Sour milk. The first time I saw this ad it made me gag, and a few repeat viewings haven't improved the impact. What a terrible way to present a product!

Ugh, I hate the "IDK, my BFF Jill?" commercial. It makes my skin crawl! No wonder people think Americans are lazy, our young people can't even summon the energy to say or write a one to two syllable word. Personally, I'd fail the student who turned in something written like this commercial, and I'd ignore my kid until he could use "big person words."

I hate the paper towel ad, where the boy takes the soda out of the refrigerator, shakes it till it explodes and aims it at his mother...then she tells him it's better to use the spray attachment on the sink and squirts him with that! What is the matter with these companies, that they have to make it look as if that type of behavior is okay?!? There is no way those paper towels will get all that soda off the walls, ceiling, cabinets, etc.!

That commercial is even worse than the Head-On one.

I love the Geico Caveman commercials - he makes more sense than most of the goons I have seen on TV lately. Just cannot stand the Ditech commercials - they look dumb and treat us like we are stupid and need to hear their commercial 5 or 6 times an hour.
But, the real winner is Billy Mays - Why doesn't he get a hearing aid so he knows he is screaming at us? He could be talking about the miracle product of the century, but I just mute him or turn him off. I don't care. It is rude to yell at people.

I LIKE the Valtrex commercials for treatment of genital herpes, because of the straightforward, matter-of-fact, and informative content. I am a female in her 50's, a mental health professional, a human sexuality instructor, and I have had genital herpes since age 30. It's so important to let herpes sufferers know how to minimize the risk of transmission to their partners, and people are more likely to seek treatment and to inform partners if they are not shamed. My absolute favorite commercial is the new Oreo commercial with the son and the Dad on an overseas business trip. It looks like they are in the room together eating oreos until the video pans out and you realize they are on a webcam. It is beautifully done and is really shows the signs of the times with technology and all. The interaction with the father and son is so beautiful to me also, it makes me tear up every time. Just my 2 cents
