I agree with and disagree with the producers statements. We are all here to make judgements on most everything in our lives. That is how we live our lives every day and those judgements/decisions are a direct reflection of our morals and education or, more tritely, our values. Secondly, do we judge Washington incapable of redemption, and if we do, based on what? Of course if someone is contrite shouldn't they get another chance? I judge Washington to be a fairly typical human, bad tempered, occasionally hair triggered and judgemental himself. I further judge him to have had some of the scales knocked from his eyes and I think that he may be on the path to doing far more than just walking the straight and narrow to stay out of trouble. An investment now in folks like him will, hopefully be an investment in us all.

Interesting question asked: If Washington had been a white actor who used the N-word, would he have been forgiven?
I feel this is an unfair question. Isaiah Washington likely has faced more racism all his life as a black man, than his white former co-star who hadn't even officially come out of the closet. While no doubt there are plenty of gay and lesbians out there that are of different race. I feel that Isaiah has been treated badly in this situation. This story should have died quite some time ago. Imagine if everytime you had an arguement with a co-worker or spouse, your every word was scrutinized for any possible offensive word and then plastered all over your local newspaper. I think that the Gay Rights activists picked the wrong story to ride so hard in the press. They were and still are out to ruin a man who likely has had a harder time facing discrimination than they ever have. No one has a right to know what your sexual preference is behind closed doors, but it's pretty hard to hide that you are a person of color. Now that I have written this, I am worried that I may have not used the proper or "politically correct" terms. I am a married white mother of 2. This is my opinion and it is without prejudice.

The last time I looked, we still had that pesky freedom of speech thing in the US. If everyone used politically correct speech, we would not need the constitution to protect those who don't. I hear things that offend me all the time and no one loses his or her job because of it. I think if people searched their souls, they would find that they have almost all said something in the heat of the moment that hurt or offended someone. I know that I would not like to be held accountable publicly for every single word I have ever uttered, and I promise that I do not use curse, racial, sexual-orientation, religious or slang body size/part words as a daily course of conversation. I always thought that Isaiah's character on Grey's was annoying and boring...I'm glad he is gone, regardless of his bigotry. However, I do think he is pathetic as a person. If someone would have used an ethnic slur against him...it would have been a much bigger issue. I actually thought he should have been fired as soon as this happened. I am not sure which is worse, the fact that he did what he did or the fact the he denied it.

I do believe in second chances, however to me a liar will always be a liar. Maybe he is sorry for what he said, but the fact remains that he lied about it on more than one occasion.

For all you Isaiah fans...I'm glad that you will get to see him in another series (that I will not be watching). I am even more glad that he will not be tainting Grey's any longer.

It's disheartening to see the support for Washington on this board. This isn't about an "incident." There is a pattern of reprehensible and immature behavior. He used an offensive term. He then did it again. He whined about the fact that he wasted his time getting therapy and apologizing, but still got fired (an admission that his apologies were insincere). He went on Larry King and said that he uses the "f" word to mean someone who was weak -- just insulting the gay community again. He also blamed everyone else for what he did, played the race card, and refused to take responsibility.

There are too many talented out-of-work actors out there who are not bigots, who do not have anger management issues, and who are mature, professional and respectful. Why should he get a "second chance" when so many others haven't had even a first chance?

This isn't a free speech issue. There's no governmental censorship. This is about a pattern of terrible conduct and a refusal to take any personal responsibility. I'm saddened that so many people don't seem to get that. And I'm very disappointed in NBC for giving another forum for this talented actor but bigoted and angry man.

Dr. Burke and Christina were the hi-lights of Grey. Will miss their storyline, was hoping they would be married and have some mixed kids. You know they are the most exotic. Anyway, glad Bionic Woman took up with Isiah, I will definitely watch Bionic and may dump Grey. Isiah is a great and wonderful actor. What words transpired on the set with the other cast mates was not worth firing him. TR Knight needed an excuse to come out of the closet and it was Isiah. God Speed Isiah.

Mr. Washington was a great asset on Grey's Anatomy. He was the only reason I watched the show. Many people are being too judgemental. How do you know if T.R. Knight is telling the truth, or was it just to advance his career. Where was his storyline before all this happened. Sounds like a poor me act. I for one will not watch Grey's Anatomy. ABC really screwed up this time. Did you not learn from The View. See how that one bit you back.

Isaiah Washington did not call anyone the "F" word as he said. Get over it. He made the statement that Patrick Dempsey was not going to treat him like a "F". Yes, he should not have used the word. With that said, I think T.R. Knight or whatever his name is used the incident to his advantage and everyone else, except Catherine Heigle, who is about as stupid as they come, kept their mouth shut to make Washington out to be the bad guy. He is a superior actor to everyone else on the show. It was clear to see after everything happened that the cast did not like Washington. I'm glad he was fired. Now he can move on to bigger and better things. Washington was the primary reason I watched that show. I WILL NEVER WATCH GREYS ANATOMY AGAIN. He was by far the best actor on the show. The show now consists of a group of people running around with a weak plot. I will not be long before Grey's Anatomy is cancelled. When the show is cancelled, lets see who is going to hire a simi talented actor like T.R. Knight. The only person that may have a change of another roll is Patrick Dempsey only because he revived his career with the roll. Catherine Heigle will marry a rich man and the rest of them will go back to nowhere where they came from.

Did T.R.Knight really write that post on 7/18? if so, that is very interesting. i don't believe that isaiah was treated fairly, he did all that was requested of him and still was fired. that is bogus. i think that this situation has stayed in the "limelight" for far too long. like another blogger mentioned, there are far more serious things that we should be focusing on other than whether or not isaiah called t.r. a f------. i think grey's is a fabulous show, i think t.r. and isaiah are both really good actors. let's hope all of this will eventually blow over and everyone involved can move on w/ their lives and careers. the individual who said they are amazed at all the support washington is receiving via these postings, get over yourself sweetie. if you felt strongly about someone being wronged, you'd be as supportive as these people are. that is the beauty of being able to voice your opinions, you get to pick and choose who to stand up for and when. just like it would appear that you support grey's and t.r...........

Puh-lease. Everybody is so hung up on being "PC" all the time, that everytime someone makes a half honest attempt at communication (and we are most honest when we are angry or hurt) someone else wants to sue them. Whatever. Washington is a fine actor, why does he deserve any more or less of a chance than any other Hollywood idiot who's put their foot in their mouth? (And why the heck does anyone REALLY care...)
As for the show, I personally will not watch it, not because of Washington, but because I am so tired of the majority of the movie and tv business having no original thought! Can we stop making remakes? "Re-imagining"? What the? Who's brilliant idea was that one? Most of the remakes are lame copies of lame shows/movies to begin with. Battlestar was ONE that surprised and delighted me.
You wanna make a cop movie, then make a cop movie, call 'em John Jones and Dave Smith (or whatever), DON'T call it Miami Vice. Why couldn't they make a great chase movie and set it in, oh, London and call it the London Job, like it's some kind of sequel; why does it have to be the Italian Job re-do? And the list goes on and on and on and....
Sheesh. I know I'm not the only one losing faith in Hollywood-land.

I was looking forward to watching the new BW, but, given the producer's choice to cast Mr. Washington, I will not tune in.
Mr. Washington did not just make one or two isolated comments. His duplicitous whining subsequent to his apologies negates an "apologies" he has offered.
Face it, homophobia is still accepted and people will bend over backwards to excuse it in a way that they would never do in the case of racism, anti-Semitism, or misogyny.

Please allow me to speak for the majority of my gay and lesbian 30-something peers when I say that NBC has shot itself in their bionic foot by casting Mr. Washington in "Bionic Woman." First of all, to any fans of the original show, there is and will forever be only one Bionic Woman, and that is Ms. Lindsay Wagner. The addition of Washington to the cast of this remake has already begun to alienate an already built-in fan base of gay men who worshipped the original show. Trust me when I say. Let's see how long it takes for the new "Bionic Woman" to get the axe. I personally can't wait for the news. I wouldn't watch "Bionic Woman" if I were tied to a chair with toothpicks holding my eyes open. That said, Lindsay Wagner could sing "Row, row, row your boat" and I'd be front and center for the performance. NBC, you truly made a mistake. Number one, you don't replace gay icons. Number two, adding someone who calls another gay man a faggot, well...need I say more?

Everyone is stuck on Isaiah Washington's plight, and this blog is supposed to be about the new show "Bionic Woman". So, let's talk about the main character, Jaime Sommers. I heard a producer or some higher-up with the show say that Jaime is supposed to be the "All American Girl". That's great, but where is this all-American Girl? They hired a nice young woman to play Jaime, but does she really know anything about being an American? When there are literally 100's of talented, young American women who can pull off this role, the producers decided to outsource -- what were they thinking? I'm sure Michelle Ryan is a wonderful actress in her own right, but the role should have gone to an American!

Bravo! Bravo! Now that's how you react to the tragedy of releasing Mr. Washington from Grey's Anatomy. Now he's BIONIC. What a huge talent he is. I have watched his career flourish over the years. He will be an asset to any show. As for T.R. Knight, his inner anger will consume him like acid in a plastic bottle. His unhappiness is clearly visible on screen. Mr. Washington was never his problem. His life style is his problem. Mr. Washington just hit a nerve. Mr. Washington has moved on and will do well. T.R. is still in limbo within himself. Eventually, he will self destruct because he has no inner peace.

I noticed that there wasn't one single reference to the fact that the two old TV series haven't yet made it to DVD relase here in the United States. There is a little publicized fact on this, the rights to both series is in a legal mess. There was a legal case filed back in at least 1980 between Universal and Miramx that has and still is preventing the fans from being able to get their "fix" by purchasing the series in the US on DVD. No status update is being posted any where on this stupid and sad lawsuit. Can't the two companies get a brain and just agree to give the fans a break and release them and split the sales or just decide to donate the proceeds to bionic research (for example the Christopher Reeve foundation would be a nice recippient) this way neither company would be either getting or be out the proceeds. Or does this just make too much common sense for attorneys and corporate types? I want my DVDs!!!
