New show: Commuting with the 'Carpoolers'

I like Jerry O'Connell (Sliders is still in my top 10 t.v. shows), but even I don't think that I will watch this show... I think that I have heard of Fred Goss, but neither of the other two guys' names sound even vaguely familiar. Have the other guys been in anything or is this their debut? Is it possible that only the pilot is this bad, and that they might reshoot it if enough critics give them bad reviews? I am not sure if these networks even know what comedy is anymore, considering that "Two and a Half Men" is still on the air... I kinda like Jon Cryer (Duckie forever!), but that show is practically unwatchable! (HATE the "theme song"... Ugh!)

I think CARPOOLERS is really funny and clever. There's a Kids In The Hall sensibility to it. The actors are good. You have to give shows a chance. Pilots are tough because you have to cram in so much backstory. I think this show has a lot of potential.

Carpoolers sounds interesting, so who knows how long it will last. I love sitcoms, even dumb ones. Even the slightly unwatchable ones are still better than any of the reality shows where someone is trying to find their soul-mate.

Sounds like a 'comedy' sitcom I won't be watching, although I do like Jerry O'Connell and Fred Goss.

We have been TIVOing 'Eureka' on the SciFi channel. Started watching it last summer, and really enjoy it. It is a comedy with heart - and a little fantasy scifi thrown in. I was just commenting last nite, that I was surprised that this hadn't been picked up by mainstrean networks.

This was what Jerry O'Connell went for after Crossing Jordan? (and Miguel Ferrar to the Bionic Woman!) The premise of this show doesn't even sound funny enough to be a skit on MadTV.

NBC's oft repeared vignette ads for the new season are wearing thin in general. I may give Chuck 1 edisode of attention but Journeyman is Quantum Leap with no clue and Bionic Woman's are just a bunch of smashups and rage scenes that tell nothing good enouh to make me look.

Maybe they could rerun Jay and Conan all evening.

I saw it (pilot) and found it to be hilarious. Definite Kids in the Hall and Arrested Development influences. It is smart. And goofy. I can't wait for Episode #2.

I'm looking forward to this show, Bruce McCulloch is in my opinion the best comedian/writer to come out of canada. If you ever get a chance, you should watch some of his "kids in the hall" skits. And I like the character name "Dougie" that's a nice Canadian touch.
I hope Doug Gilmour is ok with it.

Wow, I had Tivo'ed this show and just watched the pilot and it's absolutely dreadful. I couldn't even get through the whole episode. I didn't even smile, let alone laugh in this embarrassingly poorly-written show. Way too much talent is being wasted in creating this drivel and I don't think it will last on air for more than 4 or 5 episodes.

To Aaron: As a Canadian I'd have to strongly disagree with you!

No, you're wrong. It's got all the woman..., strong & confident, lazy & donothing, sexy & loving. I think it's very funny. But it does have that same old sitcom feel. However, it is still the best thing that came out this year.

This review is all wrong. Watch three episodes and you will see it is a great show that is nothing like what the reviewer described in the pilot. I laugh hard at least once during each episode, and I have not been able to say that about any sitcom in the last 10 years. Carpoolers is the only new show that started in Fall 2007 that I ended up watching regularly, and I hope it comes back next season.
