It was disappointing to see that they think we need our humor spelled out for us.

For example, in the Bud "Rock, Paper, Scissors" ad, we _saw_ the guy get beaned with a rock. Why then do we need to have some character observe, "That was a real rock." Did we need that _explained_ to us?

In their "Slapping replaces fist-bumping" ad, wouldn't it be a lot funnier to stop just _before_ the big boss gets slapped? Don't they trust our imaginations to connect the dots and provide our own big ending laugh there?

This is where the Blockbuster Pet Store ad stands out as my choice of best of the evening. It starts with a slyly suggestive camera angle that suggests some risqué possibilities for what's occurring, but we immediately find out it's nothing like what we thought it was. (Yes, you did think that. Admit it.) What follows are rapid-fire, beautifully-rendered sight gags of a madly scrabbling, long-suffering mouse, building up to a great closing punch line, with the scene logically following that playing only in your imagination. Budweiser would have just plugged in the mouse on camera. Hardy Har Har!

In short, in too many ads it seemed like the original concept was filmed in full, every detail, and at no point did it occur to anyone that sometimes the funnier moments are the ones that you don't see.

Maybe they added a few new text sceens to fit today, but I have been recieving copies of this over the email for years. The Dirty dog was just stupid; I guess if I just make myself look like who I am not, then people will love me??? You guys don't seem to be understanding what the Snickers ad is doing...its WORKING. You may be disgusted by it...I was...but the name Snickers has been all over the forum. GOOD ADVERTISING THERE!!! Personally, I liked the "dumb" commercials. Anyone see the Combos commercial just before the game.

Dissecting the Super Bowl ads

Actually I thought this year's line-up of ads fell short from the creativity of previous years. Previous ads that come to mind were the Budweiser reptile series and most recently the Caveman FedEx ads. Simple, funny and memorable. I can't say that any one commercial left any significant impression yesterday. Oh well....there's always next year.

Dissecting the Super Bowl ads

Seemed like many of these commercials had already been aired before the game. Maybe I'm mis-remembering the past, but I always thought that the SB ads were original placements, which was part of the excitement. It also seems like none of the commercials yesterday were anything more than your standard TV fair... quite dissapointing.

Dissecting the Super Bowl ads

What is wrong with all of you?! The only commercial through out the Superbowl that caused the entire party to "Laugh out Loud" was the Bud-Lite paper, rock, scissors ad. In my mind, funny is what sells and that was one of the few which succeeded in doing that. And you didn't know what beer is being advertised. Were you not watching when the camera focused in on the bottle that clearly stated "BUD LITE"... And since when has the beer ever been the focus point of a beer Ad? Hence the Budweiser dalmations and frogs. They have a lot to do with beer don't they? But, like I said they are entertaining and funny so they sell.

Dissecting the Super Bowl ads

IN AN OVERALL SENSE THESE ADS DID NOT MEASURE UP TO LAST YEARS ADS AND WERE A DISAPPOINTMENT TO THOSE OF US WHO WATCH THIS PROGRAM JUST FOR THE ADS. The men stripping for Chevy was good too; a real send-up of all the 20 million ads that feature scantily-clad women (can you say GoDaddy?) The CareerBuilder ads were a riot! The first Doritos ad was good, the second one sucked. The Budweiser slapping ad must be a guy thing 'cause I didn't think that one was funny at all. And finally, say what you will about the Snickers ad, but it was effective at making you remember the product...which is was advertising is supposed to do.

Dissecting the Super Bowl ads

Blockbuster mouse wins hands-down. Bud Dalmation "kick in the head" was cute, too.

By the looks of it, I thought for sure the salesgenie.com was a campy joke, then at the end of it, I had the sad realization that I had just watched the entire commercial for nothing; its production qualities looked as though they were a prelude to bad porn.

Dissecting the Super Bowl ads

The Blockbuster and Snickers commercials were the best. From reading above, it is obvious more people will not choose to buy a Snickers than see how fast they can go out and buy one. I am sure there will be plenty of talk around the office cooler, but if no one buys your product, who cares that people talked about it at the cooler. Snickers makes money on sales, not on "cooler talk". I am just glad that I do not have to defend their commercial and "Good Luck" to whatever company has to...

Dissecting the Super Bowl ads

Where do you get "Firefly" out of the FedEx Moon Office ad?

Is anyone younger then 50 and with enough testosterone to not vote for dreamgirls as the best movie. Which was completely awful by the way. Here are my problems with the majority of your statements.

1. These are commercials not life lessons. If you really think a commercial is going to influence your children, grandchildren, or yourself to throw rocks at people, slap someone in the face, or take a real mouse and pound on it like it was a computer mouse then you are an idiot and lack all the parenting and commonsense skills in the world. Get a hobby.

2. The budweiser commericials were quit entertaining and brought much more laughter then cgi pets and their crazy puns. (not funny, puns never are)

3. Commercials are effective if you remember them and what product they were for. Thats the whole point. Very few people will remember the oprah-letterman promo but everyone will most likely remember the rock, paper, scissors and sadly enough the snickers chest hair for awhile.

4. ALL THE COKE COMMERCIALS WERE PLAYED OR RECYCLED BEFORE SUPER BOWL FORTY TWO. They shouldn't have even been allowed to be talked about. Some of them were played at last years superbowl. Lazy!!!

5. Rock, paper, scissors was by far the best.

Dissecting the Super Bowl ads

I disagree with most all of you.
