People vote hundreds of times for the person they like. Until we get some regulations for the voting, a true American Idol will never be found. Just look at the previous contenders. The worst singers should be voted off, and the best singers voted forward. Just look at dialidol.com Sundance Head and Antonella Barba are now in the top three, even though they sang like crap. I love Paula- when I heard the rumor about replacing her, I was one of those who said I'd quit watching the show altogether. The one who should leave is Ryan Seacrest. He is so obnoxious. Simon is right most of the time. Ryan is an idiot. But, I do love when they have guest judges-- go ahead and have Bette Midler guest judge, she'd be great! But please, no more Stevie Wonder songs. It's not fair to ask these singers to perform his stuff- he's vocally in a league of his own. Just b/c they can't do his songs justice doesn't mean they can't sing. Is it just me, or is this the worst bunch of contestants they've ever had? I like Blake from Seattle. The rest are predictable.

'American Idol' rumormania

Something with a positive message for today's youth, that's for sure... Having only the past finalists (inlcuding winners and runner-ups) appearing on the show is really not good enough when you have former semifinalists from the Top 24+ (Top 24, Top 30, and/or Top 32) who can be more talented than any of the current ones, expect for those with good or better singing talent; and/or have a better chance of being the next American Idol than any of the current contestants if Top 24/Top 30/Top 32 rule does not prohibit them from re-competing on American Idol. It is really not fair for someone like Fantasia Barrino or Jennifer Hudson being allowed to make guest appearances on American Idol unless if someone like Ayla Brown or Angela Peel was allowed to do the same. I am not that Fantasia or Jennifer are less-talented and don't deserve to be AI again, but do not like for AI to make any contestants who do not make to the Top 10 or Top 12 finals feel totally unwelcomed or banned from appearing on American Idol again.

'American Idol' rumormania

I would have to say a Michael Jackson or Prince Night would be the best since both of them are huge idols in American. They are both basically the kings of pop. I would say Madonna, but that wouldn't be as creative as the other two. But since, I like blues, house music, and music from England the best, I really don't get to hear my type of music on idol often. So that's another idea.

'American Idol' rumormania

I really do agree with what was said before in one of the posts, even Simon said it. There is not good competition in this American Idol. There would be good competition if one of the contestants wasn't in the show because there are a lot of good singers there. But after seeing last night and even the auditions to go to Hollywood, it is obvious to see that Lakeisha is way better than all 23 of the other guests and the competition is for hers to lose. Eventhough, there are a couple that are there right underneath her. This reminds me of the year that Fantasia one, the competition was over the first week, especially wity her personality. But the only difference this time is that Lakeisha is a a heavy African American woman. Adding the heavy part on top of it for a woman, is what kills and that's a shame...but that's how I perceive America is. But I hope America surprises me and chooses the obvious hands down winner. All Lakeisha has to do is to continue to do what she did last night in the beginning stages and once she see all of the other ones working hard and maybe get on her heel, just step up the performance to the next level. She's singing like that and coming out swinging out the gate, and she hasn't been through the learning stages yet.. which is really interesting about how good she actually could get. But even if America do what I believe it will do, still I think she would come out on top somewhere. Look at Jennifer Hudson. And last but not least, I'm black but not racist..my favorite AI of all time is Clay Aiken... but I have to say that it is not fair to the others in any competition because when you put in a African Aamerican female, especially a heavier that does have talent, especially raised in Gospel, she is natuarally (not often by training) going to have the best singing voice in comparision to the others-most range, stronger, soul, and emotion. Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson etc. It's like comparing Christina Aguillera and Britney Spears. Sometimes a Christina Aguillera or Kelly Clarkston comes along, but not often. Last, Randy is cool, Paula is still sexy hot cuz I like oler women, Simon is 95% right so I go along with what he says, and Ryan is sissified.

'American Idol' rumormania

I second REM, and how about a Jethro Tull night?

'American Idol' rumormania

I think the show would be better without Paula. This is the first year that I have personally watched American Idol. I wanted to see what all the hype was about. I am intrigued, however, I was embarrassed for the shows host (Ryan is it?). He doesn't hold a candle to Simon with his wit and charm. Ryan, being the shows host, should show some constraint with his criticisms towards the judges. Maybe the show has become to "Big" for him? As for the contestants, there were many that moved me. I'm hooked! Looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

'American Idol' rumormania

Let's face it most of us are only interested in the try-out phase of Idol. As for Simon, he is right most of the time... if not a bit harsh.

'American Idol' rumormania

I disagree with Robyn...the auditions are miserable. I suffer through them(thank you TiVO)just to get a little background on the ones moving on. So many people acting like fools to get on TV, it shows the enormous amount of trashy people out there. I have watched the show all 6 seasons and really like when we can watch the people with at least some talent. I am disappointed that Antonella was picked over Marissa (the last 2 for the final 12)who knows what that was all about Marissa clearly was more talented.

'American Idol' rumormania

Please America' it's talent that counts!. Where did the judges get the 12 boys from? None of them is worthy of the show and I knew after listening to them that the girls would outsing them all. The fat curly head guy stinks (Chris Sling). That long haired smiley boy is terrible - in fact they are ALL awful. I am beginning to worry about the judges judgment because there is no way they could not have come up with better men singers! NO WAY! They tend to disregard Black male singers as well. I agree with much of what Simon and Randy says. But, AI will starting to lose its magic due to arrogance, boring cat fights, and selecting people with little or no talent. And, only 32 million people even bothered to vote this week. That is way down from pass seasons. The show has lost its excitement and is in danger of losing millions of viewers. Trust me on this. All those celebrities dying to get exposure on the show will dump it like a hot potatoe once the ratings start to go down. And, go down it will. AI is destroying their own success by stupidity and cockiness.

'American Idol' rumormania

you all know the voting is fixed right????

'American Idol' rumormania

They should have a No Doubt night the week Gwen Stefani performs.

'American Idol' rumormania

They should have a No Doubt night the week Gwen Stefani performs.

'American Idol' rumormania

ryan &simon should stop attacking eachother, it's irritating. paula should check into rehab or reality - her choice. so far this year, girls rule. you might be right about it being fixed... ie. kelly pickler last year and antoinette or whatever her name is this year. However, this season seems to prove my developing theory that the selection of contestants is a little more involved than appears on the surface. The show is heavily weighted to ensure that the winner is a black female. i have no problem with which gender wins or what race. I do have a problem with the uneven selection of people. Why are there no country singers this time, no rockers, etc.? This situation is doubly highlighted by comparing the contestants on the "Grease, You're the one thatI want" show. Certainly good singers are around if you are not trying to stack the show with one of this kind, one of that kind, eight of another kind, and only good female singers. The law of averages must prevail that in all those thousands who auditioned there must have been some really good male singers. Also, I don't think the three judges make the final decisions. I think the shows producers do that.
So, the bottom line is that I think (and I'm very sad about it) that the show is becoming too contrived and in spite of the increased viewers some of us are getting pretty disgusted with what's happening.

80's and 90's night - good idea.
David Bowie night - Major Tom to Ground Control: No.
Deep Purple night - this show could be followed by Black Sabbath night? No and No.
Folk song night - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Skip the sominex and go straight to sleep.
Japanese night - Turning Japanese, turning Japanese, I really don't think so.
Rolling Stones night - it could be called "I can't get no (satisfaction)" night. No.
Rush and Yes night - No and no. Giddy Lee shrieks like a girl and I couldn't tolerate Yes butchered by idol contestants.
Three Dog Night night - it's right up there with Partridge Family night. No.
Bring back Constantine - who?
REM and U2 night - this show could be billed as political activism night where each contestant sings about their pet charity cause. No and No. And, No.
Glam Rock night - like Gary Glitter night? No and NO.
Michael Jackson night - this show could be billed as "little boys night at my adventure park." NO and NO. And to be perfectly clear on this idea, NO.
Prince night - flying penis night? No and No.
Stephen Colbert night - as a guest judge. Now Simon has some real competition!

And a Carol King night would be another great night. I would also like a "Early Days of Rock & Roll" night -- sing old 50's songs! Forget replacing the judges - the three we have are so ingrained to the AI concept it would be impossible to think of the show going forward with any others. (Even though Paula certainly annoys me most with her saccharine-sweet comments.) Randy makes me smile - hey! I *LOVE* dogs! And puppies!---- that was pretty funny! Simon is my favorite, snarkiness and all. My husband and I try to "judge" the singers before the actual judges make their comments and I agree most all the time with Simon. I think LaKeisha (spelling?) should win --- I have never heard anyone sound so professional so early in the season. She makes the other singers sound like eighth-graders at a school "Spring Fling Concert". It will be interesting to hear her tonight to see if she manages to duplicate last week's huge success. Even if she fails to win, she will certainly have a singing contract after this show ends. If I had to pick a guy, it would be Sundance. Loved his rendition of "Mustang Sally"! But Sligh is pretty good, too. FORGET ALL the other guys. As for "Most Annoying,Forgetable, Over-Commercialized AI Singer of All Time": The Winner is KATHERINE McPHEW ....err I mean McPHEE.... HATED her and all her wallowing all over the floor with what she thought would look "sexy" or "interpretive". And last of all: Ryan? I don't care if he stays or goes. I think he is easily the one expendible, replaceable person on the show. (As long as he isn't replaced by Katherine McPhee......)

'American Idol' rumormania

For pure musical chops, monsterous catalog, and musical variety you can't beat Elvis Costello. I tried several times to vote last year towards the end and never was able to get through...always got a busy tone. What's up! Also think the show should take some form of stop gap to prevent some of the better talent from being voted off too soon and lesser talent staying too long. (Most of us know when this happens) I really like Melinda Doolittle...by far the best voice range thus far...Latisha is GREAT also! Love Simon the most...if the contestants can't take the heat, they probably won't make it in the entertainment world. .He's always right on with his comments, and I think he gives them to help and better the contestants, not tear them down. Please spare us the painful "try-out" portions of this show. Only encourages "no talent" people who just want to see themselves on tv/dvd. Most of them surely know how dreadful they look or sound. I would think the judges would find this helpful in weeding out and selecting the very best for Hollywood. Love to hear them write some of their own material (maybe towards the end) say last five standing contestants. This would give them a chance to work on it during the first several weeks. Another peave...Contestants are encouraged "to make the song their own" but sometimes when they do, they are told they sang "pitchy" or the judges say the "song was too big for them". I think the players should be free to choose their own songs which showcase their uniqueness and individuality. Some sound great doing country, while others, pop, r&b or soul, hip-hop, gospel, etc.

'American Idol' rumormania

I would like to hear an Eagles or Bob Seger night. "pitchy" has got to go, Randy, come up with some different terms to use. Simon has commented so much on appearances lately but he is always reminding Paula that it is a singing competition! Paula is just a nice person and is put in the mix so the contestants don't feel completely lost when they do bad, but she has critisized more this season than previous ones. The talent this season is not as good as a whole, but there are some awesome singers(Blake, Sabrina, Chris S, Melinda, Jordin) I think the judges are regretting some of there final 24 selections, Antonella and Alaina were put through on their appearances. I could go on but I've said enough. Love the show, it's the only reality show I watch.

'American Idol' rumormania

What's getting old is the judges talking on top of each other and disrespecting each other. Simon constantly interrupts and criticizes Paula when she's trying to speak, and it’s extremely annoying. I’m not a Paula megafan or anything, but she IS a judge, so obviously has a right to voice her opinion without being dissed like a High Schooler. I respect Simon’s opinion, that is, when he’s not being hateful, but the rude thing is really off-putting. I wish they'd do their comments like Nashville Star, in a sort of round robin. After each singer, a different judge has to start the comments, no one talks on top of each other, no one is hateful to the contestants, and no one disses the other judges’ opinions.

'American Idol' rumormania

How about alternative music, like Indie Arie, Milessa Ethridge, A Tribe Called Quest, Tori Amos, Erykah Badu, Marley, Ziggy,De La Soul,Difranco, Ani

'American Idol' rumormania

What I have always wanted...all of them singing the same song to see who really does it best.

The "judges" should be called the "panel" because once the auditions are over they are just there for constructive criticism or to tell the contestant how to dress! Randy, Simon, Ryan, and Paula will stay as long as the ratings stay high. I agree the Ryan/Simon bantering is more forced than in past seasons, but it makes good ratings. Randy is much more negative this season than in past seasons. He's trying to be more like Simon, but it's not working. If I hear him say "pitchy" one more time..... How about a TV/Movie theme song night? I agree with the person who suggested that the contestants sing the same song. It would be a bit boring but it would be easier to see the different styles and strengths of the singers, perhaps nearer to the end of the show when there are fewer contestants. I would LOVE to see Paul McCartney, Carol King, Don Henley, or yes, even Dolly Parton work with the contestants. Let's get rid of the boys.

'American Idol' rumormania

WHAT was Kellie Pickler doing with Betty Ford's hair?!?!?

'American Idol' rumormania

Can we please get rid of Ryan. The constant insulting banter with Simon needs to stop. Like lots of others here, I agree that Ryan has become to big for the show (in his eyes). A new host would make the process so much more enjoyable. And has anybody picked up on the homophobic remarks Ryan makes? Spare us your sexual paranoia.
I too am sick to death of the constant bickering between the judges. Simon is harsh but generally right on with his critisisms. If I have to watch Paula dance and clap one more time I think I'm going to blow chunks and will somebody please give Randy some new words to add to his limited vocabulary. Doesn't it make you wonder if Randy even knows what pitchiness really is?
As for talent, it's heavy in the girl's camp this year. I think Ms. Doolittle is awesome!! I'd like to see this 6 boys and 6 girls thing done away with. Let's just pick the best 12 singers, regardless of their sex.

'American Idol' rumormania

I agree with some of the comments about voting. They really need to do something about that. The judges should be able to save someone, etc. People are getting voted out that obviously have a much better voice than ones that are being saved. Even the contestants themsleves believe this, just look at their faces when the other people are voted off and they are saved. I believe people are voting on "looks" and on comments made by the judges. Not the constructive critism ones but the ones that are not as faborable for the contestents. Lakisha is the best!!!! I believe she should win or Melinda she is fabulous too. As far as the guys, none really stands out.

'American Idol' rumormania

I agree with Laura (Naperville, IL), this is the worst bunch of contestants aside from Blake who is entertaining.
